Honestly, I think De Niro should take a page out of Nicholson's book this decade. Better to just sit it out than start making a bad movie today.

M. Night Shyamalan isn't exactly known for being a consistently top-tier director, but I'll always be grateful for how much I got sucked into watching Signs. Honestly, I had pretty much given up on actually being terrified by a movie at this point, considering I've seen more horror than I can count.
It's mainly that one scene with the news report. The sheer atmosphere—just pure vibe—of some amateur footage playing on a TV inside a lonely farmhouse in a world facing a quiet invasion, combined with that build-up where you just know you're about to see something terrifying. It might even be my favorite horror scene of all time.
All that zombie stuff, the jump scares, the blood, the chainsaws, whatever... it's all pretty weak.
I don't know, I guess they'd need to come up with something genuinely fresh if they want to actually rattle me again, but I haven't a clue what that would even look like.
