Immigration discussion in Women's Corner in Feedback & Suggestions ·

Wait, isn't that the exact opposite of what Michelle Evans was saying? 🤷

Michelle Evans said:Yes, I can answer. Whenever I am online...

It isn't our practice to issue warnings for posts edited within the allowed timeframe before a moderator even has a chance to spot them. We don't do that anywhere on the forum. It would result in way too many warnings if we penalized the original version of a post. I was acting as moderator at that moment, and while I was typing my reply to the OP, that post was written and then immediately edited, from what I can see...
My colleagues can correct me if I'm wrong and if warnings are indeed given for posts prior to editing.

If you're trying to draw a parallel to your own warning—it's been over an hour since your post went up, you've participated in the thread, and you had plenty of time to fix whatever caused your warning.

Any grievances regarding the moderation of this thread should be moved to a new topic. We shouldn't clutter this discussion, as this isn't the place to debate how this Women's Corner and Complaint thread is being managed.

Just curious—so does that mean I can drag someone into a heated argument in PMs, wait thirty seconds for them to read it, and then just edit my post to make myself look like the good guy?
Basically, anyone with enough cash in their pocket can pull together a convention whenever they feel like it.

Just curious, does anyone know why this specific thread was locked by the mods over on the US expat forums? I realize it’s some old relic from back in 2004, but man, it was such a hilarious read and honestly pretty spot on.

It’s basically just so when you start losing an argument, you can pivot to an ad hominem attack and go scorched earth on the other person by pointing out how they have a tiny number of crappy, short posts. 🤷
Personally, I'm totally lost on the point of it all too. You see people cranking out 10k posts in just six months in random chat threads.
Fraud, plagiarism, or what? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
On the flip side, about 90% of the listings you see on the job boards over at the World Economic Forum under the career section are basically just off-the-books gigs, so nobody even bats an eye. It’s like, if someone is totally fine with paying someone else to ghostwrite their entire college thesis...
Why do we feel the need to hide our emotions? in Psychology ·
Paul White80 said:Oh, absolutely! Because nothing beats being raised by drug addicts or alcoholics who spend all day screaming and fighting, only to end up back on the street at 18 anyway. 😍

Because let's be real—"normal" parents are basically a myth. They don't actually exist. 👍

Paul White80 said:Not a bad thing? My ass. Once a parent screws you over, not even a freaking fairy godmother can fix that damage.

Yeah, right. Because clearly, growing up in some state-run group home only to get tossed out onto the streets at 18 is just the dream. 🥳
So now you’re asking me that? Look, I can tell you’re just bored out of your mind. You wanna switch gears and talk about something else?🤷
Lawrence Bailey77 said:It bothers me when someone’s speech becomes such a distraction that it actually pulls focus away from nonverbal communication... which, if I'm being honest, I tend to favor much more than mere words 🍿

Multitasking? 😁

I find myself quite unsettled by women who possess an exceptionally deep, masculine resonance in their voices.
It truly strikes a discordant note with me; I simply have a low tolerance for sounds that feel aggressive or jarring.

Yeah. Total mood. I’m not trying to generalize everyone, but I hear it all the time back in California. That raspy female voice...

feralbison68 said:It honestly gets under my skin when people can't just hold a conversation at a reasonable volume, instead choosing to scream over everything like they’re trying to outshout a Boeing 747 engine mid-takeoff.

Then again, I suppose I tend to talk like some sort of monotone robot—pretty flat and lacking any real emotional peaks or valleys—which I guess probably irritates a lot of people too. 😁

You'd probably make a killer math teacher.😁
What's a normal PM-to-post ratio? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
William Bennett53 said:It sounds interesting on paper, but in practice, it feels like an unnecessary complication. All blue-tier users essentially function as a single collective, sharing identical rights that are updated for everyone simultaneously. Introducing distinctions based on post counts would necessitate creating various sub-groups and managing a transition mechanism between them, all for negligible impact. Besides, having a limit of 200 is already a significant step up from the previous 100. 😁 Who knows? If there were enough demand, perhaps they might consider bumping it up even further down the road, but for now, we simply have to work with what we've been given. 😉

So basically, they just bumped up the total capacity for how many we can actually hold. Okay, yeah, that explains everything.👍

Thanks!

Are you kidding me? I feel like I hit over 100 the other day (can't say for sure, though), but just a few years back, my gauge was already screaming at me that I was maxed out at 100. Is it really staying the same?
What even counts as the limit here?

I’m honestly not even sure if I’m looking at the right manual here—I see people asking all kinds of random questions, so I’m feeling a bit lost. Can someone point me in the right direction? Like, where can I find the breakdown on how our private message limits scale based on our total post count?
Thanks!
Why do some people just cave to peer pressure? in Psychology ·
ambercrane722 said:People just crave that sense of belonging, man. If you don't fit their little mold, they turn on you instantly... but honestly? Deep down, it’s pure envy. This whole forum is basically a microcosm of society right here in the States. You dare to go against the grain or act a little different, and suddenly you’re the "weirdo" who doesn't belong to the clique. It's always the same interrogation: why isn't she talking enough? Why isn't he weighing in on the latest headlines? Why aren't they dressing or acting exactly like the rest of us? Why, why, why? People cling to the herd because it's easy—it gives them an identity without having to actually think for themselves. It's that classic "strength in numbers" delusion used to mask total conformity.

Look, nobody is out there envying you. That’s just some movie trope nonsense; most people couldn't care less about what you're doing. You're just an outlier, plain and simple. Honestly, I don't get why you're even chasing that sense of belonging if you know you're different and those people aren't even good for you anyway.
Charles Castillo2 said:Hey, what’s up, psychologists, students, and everyone else hanging out here!

It’s just like this:

It’s still there. I guess I'll just drop a quick post here. One blog. That's it. So, there’s this one blogger here in the States—might be a household name to some people, but I guess others haven't really heard of him. He’s pretty big in those alternative circles, though.

People have been tearing this blog apart in the comments lately. It’s getting pretty intense. In this thread.

So, about this whole blog situation... there’s already a thread on it, and honestly, I think it belongs in the off-topic section anyway. It’s way too controversial for the old rules to handle, and let's be real—it would probably need constant moderation just to keep things from spiraling. Maybe that's just my take, but it feels like a mess waiting to happen.

Anyway, let's just move on from that.

The bottom line is this:

Some guy is out here claiming that:
Directly blood-related to Jesus Christ.
I mean, it’s like... it would need to have an entirely different skeleton and bloodline. Like, we're talking a complete fundamental overhaul from the ground up. Everything would have to be totally different.
So, some people actually believe the whole world is just one big flat plate. I mean, seriously? Like, we're really out here pretending physics doesn't exist? It's wild to me how much nonsense gets peddled online these days. I guess if you ignore everything we know about gravity and space, sure, maybe it makes sense to you. But honestly, it’s just ridiculous.
So, I guess the whole idea that the Earth is a sphere is actually true... but it's hollow. Like, totally empty inside. Just a big, round shell. Maybe.
Man, just imagine if we actually had two suns up there. I guess life would be totally different, right? Maybe it’d be cool, maybe it wouldn’t. Honestly, I can't even wrap my head around it. It sounds like some wild sci-fi movie shit, but seriously, think about the heat. We'd probably all be toasted before breakfast. But hey, maybe that's just how it is. Just a random thought, I guess.
So, I guess we're really talking about it now... like, the third sun is actually coming. Honestly? It feels inevitable at this point. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but you can practically feel the shift happening. It’s wild to think about, but yeah, I'm calling it: that third sun is on its way.
I mean, honestly? We probably need five suns. Just to be safe. I guess. Maybe it sounds crazy, but think about it. One sun just isn't cutting it anymore.
Honestly? I feel like maybe—and this is just me thinking out loud here—but most of us, like 95% of the population, probably should have just kicked the bucket back in 2011. I mean, I guess it's a heavy thing to say, but looking back at how things went down... yeah. It’s hard to argue otherwise.
Same old story, just like back in 2012.
Same thing, 2103.
Same old story from 2014.
Look, I'm just saying... anyone who tries to push back against him is straight-up Satanist trash. Honestly? They’re just human garbage. I guess that's just how it is. Maybe I'm being harsh, but they really are just bottom-tier scum.
So, I was thinking about this whole conspiracy theory that Madonna is actually some kind of alien or whatever. Honestly, it sounds totally wild, right? Like, I don't know, maybe there's actually some truth to it if you look at how she stays relevant forever. It’s almost like she isn't even from this planet. I guess it's just one of those things people love to obsess over, but man, the theories get crazy.
Honestly? I guess the less educated you are, the better off you'll be. Just my two cents.

I guess there isn't much to say about that. Just... yeah. It is what it is.
I haven't even scratched the surface of this mess yet, but honestly, the sheer amount of insults being thrown at the LGBTQ+ community, Jews, and just basic common sense is getting ridiculous.
Maybe. This page. Honestly, this just sums everything up perfectly. It’s basically the whole situation in a nutshell.
Or this one.

This guy’s been caught red-handed lying more times than I can count. It’s constant—just endless twisting of the truth, shady threats, and all kinds of low-down manipulation to get his way. He even went down that whole crazy rabbit hole trying to hawk those HOP bracelets, claiming they were some sacred gift from the Hopi people to help you survive the big apocalypse back in 2011 or whatever. Just total nonsense.
I mean, honestly, just read through the threads yourselves. It’s pretty hilarious how much people have been making fun of him regarding that topic above.

What I’m actually interested in is the psychological side of things, which is why I even bothered starting this thread. I’m just dropping some references here to show you guys where and how to go if you actually want to get informed on the stuff being discussed above.

How does someone even end up like that? I mean, seriously. Is it just a total mental breakdown? Maybe they're just a pathological liar. Or maybe—and this is what gets me—they know exactly what they're doing and they're just lying through their teeth because there's a massive payday at the end of it. I don't know, man. It's hard to say.

When someone starts getting all worked up about wanting the world to just end—like they’re actually out there glorifying death and praying for the apocalypse—it makes me wonder. I mean, does that kind of intense, almost obsessive craving for total destruction actually reflect their own inner darkness? Like, is it just a way for them to signal that they're secretly wishing they could just check out themselves and wrap up their own life once and for all? Maybe. It feels like a huge red flag, I guess.
If you want to know what I actually mean when I say "that kind of life," just go back and read that massive 95-page thread above. It’s all in there.

Super confident. He’s out here claiming we’re all gonna kick the bucket. Seriously. I mean, they’re basically out there brainwashing people—and honestly, I think even kids might be falling for it, if you actually look at the date on that link.

It’s honestly wild how much ego this guy has. Like, he’s out here acting like he’s some kind of visionary, but the reality is just brutal. He’s basically just picking up trash at this point. He’s got zero career momentum left and has turned into a total joke. I guess he just can't face how much of a laughingstock he's become.

So, how would you even begin to wrap your head around all this? How would you define what’s actually going on here, or even figure out what the hell the real story is?
Is it just one specific disorder, or are we talking about a whole cluster of them? I mean, I guess it depends on how you're looking at it, but honestly, it feels like everything is just lumped together these days. Maybe it's one thing, maybe it's a group... who knows. It's all pretty blurry to me.
Have you guys ever run into anything even remotely like this before?
Look, I’ve been through this more times than I can count, and honestly? It’s pretty damn obvious that trying to have a rational conversation with him is a total lost cause. You hit a brick wall every single time. But since we're all stuck dealing with this mess, I guess I have to wonder... is there actually any other way to handle it? Are there any other methods that aren't just banging your head against a wall? Maybe. I don't know. But talking? Yeah, forget about it.

So, what if I personally think this guy is a straight-up danger to everyone around him? Like, as an American citizen, am I actually allowed to do anything about it? Is there some kind of recourse, or should I be looking into getting a professional psychologist's take on the situation?

I mean, I hate to be naive, but I honestly think he's just chasing clickbait revenue, which is why he keeps casting such a wide net.
What kind of person should I strive to be? in Psychology ·
Be a good person, but always keep your guard up.
Look, here's an example. At my last job, the company was incredible during the interview process. Once I actually started, they were just as great—everything was smooth, everything was going according to plan, and honestly, I had zero complaints.
But what was the very first thing I did once I got access to the company data? I copied absolutely every single trade secret they had and backed them up to a private cloud. Why? Because if it turns out the whole "great workplace" thing was just an act—if they try to screw me over later—I need some leverage to hold their feet to the fire.
Luckily, it never came to that. They stayed awesome, everything went exactly as we agreed, and we eventually moved on as friends.

Bottom line: be a decent human being as long as people are treating you right, and always give everyone a fair shot.
What makes someone likable or unlikable to you? in Psychology ·
steelseal21 said:We basically tailor our likes and dislikes based on what we've dealt with in the past. It’s simple psychology. If you had a run-in with someone who had a particularly hooked nose, you’re probably going to find people with that same look off-putting down the road...

I feel like that logic works better for personality traits rather than just looks. Like, if someone has a specific vibe or habit that reminds you of a total jerk you used to know, you're gonna be repelled by it.
On the flip side, if my ex was this curvy girl with huge boobs, I might lose interest in women with big chests altogether.
Who do we owe? in Economy ·
Hey there,

This is my first time jumping into the econ threads, and honestly, I’ll be the first to admit—I don't know much about this stuff. It’s pretty much all Greek to me.
So, I was scrolling through some news on CNN (yeah, yeah, I know, it can be a total circus), and they were talking about how Japan’s national debt is sitting at 200% of their GDP. We just saw all that chaos unfold in the USA because of massive debt levels, and let's face it—half of Europe, including us, is basically living in a state of debt slavery right now.

My big question is: who actually owns all this debt? Which institutions are we beholden to? And who really holds the keys to the kingdom when it comes to ownership?
