Complaint against the moderator on Reddit - TV Shows sub in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Can I ask someone to look into my deleted posts over in the Friends thread? A whole bunch of them were wiped out right after this post:

The system keeps flagging me for "insults," but honestly, most of what I wrote was just venting about the show itself, not attacking individual users. Sure, maybe one single post had a bit of an edge to it, but even that was just me reacting to another user who was being just as toxic as I was. And frankly, the insult wasn't even that bad—not that it matters, if they want it gone, fine, let it be deleted.

If logic holds up, it seems like the moderator here has the authority to scrub content whenever they don't personally agree with what a user is saying. Now, with all those posts missing, it makes it look like that other guy actually has the stronger arguments than I do...
I'm not entirely sure if everything was handled by the moderator Sophia Campbell90, since she was the one who sent me the infraction. If she isn't the one responsible for the deletions, then my apologies...

Thanks.

Passion

I caught a screening of it recently. It feels like Huston went through and meticulously transcribed the dialogues and the actual sequence of events straight from the Bible. The casting is spot on and everything else follows suit perfectly. My only real gripe was his portrayal of Noah; he felt a bit too whimsical for my taste. Shortly after that, I sat down with Huston's Moby Dick, and once again, it seems he captured every single detail of the plot and dialogue with precision, even though I haven't actually read the book itself...

I can't seem to think of anything worth mentioning. There’s that one mediocre flick with Jason Statham Homefront...

I've always had a soft spot for legal dramas since I was a kid, and This The Judge was actually quite solid. Apparently, Robert Downey Jr. is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Perry Mason & Erin Brockovich...

Sci-Fi or Fantasy: The ultimate debate in Movies ·
I’ve been noticing that quite a few people try to shove Star Wars into the fantasy category. Even the holy grail of databases, IMDb, didn't rank sci-fi among its top three genres. While I can see how some fantasy elements might sneak in there, in my book, this is strictly sci-fi first, and everything else is just secondary...

You really shouldn't judge a movie solely by its special effects. There's an entire genre of cinema out there that doesn't rely on a single visual effect yet we still proudly label them Sci-Fi. Honestly, if the story is set in the future, you've already met the criteria. You see plenty of post-apocalyptic flicks that don't use any flashy tricks at all.
One of the most iconic examples, Stalker, doesn't use any special effects whatsoever, if my memory serves me right.

When it comes to superheroes, it's a different story. You've got Spider-Man getting bitten by a spider, Hulk being hit by gamma radiation, Batman relying on his high-tech gadgets, Superman being an alien, and Captain America being some kind of technological marvel... plenty of them have a heavy Sci-Fi background.
On the flip side, Catwoman is pure Fantasy. Based on that one bad movie—and I won't go looking for a second opinion—she was inspired by some ancient Egyptian cat thing. Some sort of ancient magic...

I was sitting around thinking yesterday, trying to pin down exactly which movies just don't qualify as true Sci-Fi, especially when people try to shove titles like "Gravity" into that category...🤔
I’m talking about those plague movies. You know the ones—set right here in the present day, where the only speculative element is some hyper-aggressive virus that wipes out civilization. But at the end of the day, a virus is a real thing, not science fiction.

The movie Contagion (2011)
The series The Last of Us

Then you have those natural disaster flicks, too.
Volcano (1997)

In my book, none of this actually counts as Sci-Fi. I'm curious to see if the rest of you agree or if I'm totally off base...

Seriously, how on earth can anyone claim Gravity Science Fiction is actually Science Fiction? It’s just a straight-up action flick...

Shameless is just freaking fun. Seriously, can you name one show that doesn't moralize its characters as much as that one does?

In my book, it's just your run-of-the-mill trashy TV. They basically just aim for maximum chaos and call it a day. The main selling point seems to be that the oldest sister—Fiona, I think—gets laid in basically every single episode. I used to be a fan myself, but honestly, the quality just tanks with every passing season, so I don't think it belongs in any conversation about truly great television... Macy is a decent actor, sure, but that's about it. Everything else is just "let's see how shocking we can make this."
Honestly, Shameless is just 😵top tier
. I don't really stick to a strict schedule; I just watch whatever catches my eye depending on my mood. The real issue with series, though, is when you get hooked on some absolute garbage and then feel forced to see it through to the end... especially when there are way too many seasons involved. Right now, I'm working my way through That's Life and I am just counting down the days until it's over. I had the exact same experience with First Wave and that total mess Shameless. And so on...
Nowadays, the trends seem pretty much the same across the board. There’s a massive amount of commercialized trash out there, but you can still find those rare gems worth mentioning. Here are a few shows from 2012 onwards that I actually consider decent:

Welcome to Sweden (2014)
Celebrity Squares (2014)
Fargo (2014)
Harry (2013)
Peaky Blinders (2013)
Hours in Police Custody (2014)
Gomorra (2014)

And here are some movies from that same era:
Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Silver Linings Playbook
Silver Linings Playbook
We Are the Best!
What We Do in the Shadows (2014)
The World's End (2013)

Looking at this list, you can see they're all roughly in the same ballpark...

There’s a new adaptation of this story hitting screens lately, the series 12 Monkeys. It’s actually a fantastic show... I caught it recently with an American narrator...

How on earth does a movie not even have a poster yet when it’s scheduled to hit theaters in just six months?
How do I access a RAW hard drive? in Desktops ·
I’m actually related to Jessica Morris6, and honestly, this drive was working perfectly fine before all this—it was formatted as NTFS and had zero issues running on my Windows machines or even over on my Mint XFCE setup,

But now? It’s showing up as completely RAW, and I can't get into it on anything... I've tried multiple Windows builds and different Linux distros, but nothing works. I even tried using GParted on Mint, and it just keeps telling me the disk is unusable and needs to be formatted because the filesystem is corrupted,

Thanks, I think I'll give that program a shot too. My main priority right now is just getting all my data off that drive safely, rather than worrying about whether I can get back into Windows 7 without having to wipe everything first...
How do I access a RAW hard drive? in Desktops ·
I had this hard drive sitting in another machine running Linux, but now I'm trying to hook it up to my current PC which is running
Windows 7
. The problem is, the drive just won't mount or open unless I format the whole thing, which obviously isn't an option... Recuva, Remo Recover and Remo Recover failed us both. My brother is actually pretty tech-savvy and he spent a good chunk of time running those programs, but we came up empty-handed. (So yeah, a quick Google search definitely didn't solve anything)
If anyone here has dealt with this specific headache and actually managed to fix it, please let me know. I'm open to suggestions whether they work on Windows or Linux... I really don't care which way we go, as long as it works.
Red Dwarf is absolutely brilliant during those first two seasons, but honestly, the quality just starts to slide after that. By the time you hit season 6 or 7, the whole thing pretty much turns to garbage. Sure, things pick up a bit in the third season once Kryten is introduced, but even then, the overall vibe leaves a lot to be desired...

Della is still around, actually, she’s 92 years old now. And whether it’s this year or next, we’re going to see new Perry Masons starring Robert Downey Jr.

As far as pure style goes, I suppose I always remember Grace Kelly for those stunning dresses of hers. I have a vivid memory of her in Rear Window. I also recently sat down to watch Top Hat, and Ginger Rogers was just so incredibly graceful. But it’s really that high-end, luxury fashion that sticks with you...
Kenneth Johnson12 said:I am familiar with all these films; I have seen some, and I fail to see how any of them qualify as masterpieces.

Are these supposed to be children's movies? I am asking seriously.

Patrick's list is desperate. Of everything listed, Blue Ruin is the only one that seems to have any potential. Fine, at least you provided one title. Perhaps I will get lucky with another one, who knows. Though I doubt it.

It is.

Newer American films.

Not at all. They’re really just meant for people who have a soft spot for comedies...
