Death Race 2000 (1975) - IMDb

I honestly can’t decide if I’ve ever sat through anything more mindless in my entire life... There isn't even a shred of a meaningful backstory to hold onto, the acting is absolutely bottom-tier, and the action sequences? They're just garbage squared.
It feels like something a group of middle schoolers shot on a weekend, and frankly, I think the only people who could actually sit through this would be kids under thirteen...

As far as I’m concerned, they really ought to just change the title...

Michael Ironside has quite the track record in sci-fi. He’s actually popped up in several absolute classics...
To circle back to the main point here, this lead actor is somewhat familiar to me, though looking through his filmography, he doesn't exactly have a standout, career-defining body of work. I probably just caught him playing a supporting role in something somewhere else...

these three: Las Vegas (1991) - IMDb, Mars (2000) - IMDb, and Apollo 11 (2000) - IMDb.
They aren't exactly ten out of ten masterpieces, obviously, but personally, I’d give them at least an eight...

I've started noticing this pattern where the horror flicks and sci-fi stuff with low ratings on IMDb actually end up being much better in my book. Just recently, I sat through three different movies that were sitting at a mediocre 5.0, and for me, they were absolute tens...🙂

Just finished watching it. For the most part, the acting was decent enough, and considering this came out back in 1982, the creature effects actually hold up quite well, though the special effects don't always mesh perfectly with the rest of the film 🙂 and those battle sequences were a bit rough, not to mention a few glaring plot holes here and there.
Overall, it wasn't a total slog to sit through, and I think folks who don't mind a low-budget production will find something to enjoy. As far as I'm concerned... 5/10.

It seems to me she was actually pretty great in that movie with Michael Douglas, the one where she's working for a tech giant... Every big star needs at least one standout performance to really break through and make their mark on the industry.

P.S. Personally, I’ve always thought Demi was just a mediocre actress anyway, so there’s really nothing to be ashamed about.
