It’s almost like they went looking through this thread to find their excuses. 🤣Maybe.

Lino Červar is basically the handball version of Ćiro—I’ve honestly never sat through one of his interviews before, so seeing him act like this was kind of a surprise.😁

First off, I totally respect your decision to eat whatever you want if it helps your health or immune system.

But, seriously— please, don't go thinking that a glass of milk or some gum is going to mask the smell of that much garlic. The scent gets into every single pore of your body and comes out through your sweat. Honestly, even your pinky toe, your clothes, and your shoes will smell like garlic if you wear them for any length of time.

Facts.
I've tried everything—lemon green tea, straight lemon juice, chewing parsley after eating, brushing teeth and tongues, gum... nothing works. Zero.
Betty Hayes10 said:Yeah, I get it. I actually went through a phase just like yours where I was catching a cold basically every single month, especially during the winter. My apartment was miserable because the central heating made the air so incredibly dry. Honestly, maybe try turning down the heat a bit? Or just get some humidifiers—even something simple like putting a pot of water near the radiator or hanging a damp towel works... and you really should vent the place out every day.

That’s actually solid advice 👍
Ever since I started sleeping with my window cracked open at night and making sure to air out the apartment during the day, those constant colds just stopped.

And as for HIV, there's really no reason to be scared. I'm assuming you aren't some total sexual deviant or using needles. Still, just for peace of mind, maybe go get your tests updated.
bluegardener4 said:Hey everyone,

I’ve got this one issue I’ve been hesitant to bring up here... It seems pretty straightforward on paper, but I honestly don't know how to fix it or even make it better.

I catch colds constantly—sore throats, coughing, that kind of stuff. I don't get the flu (at least I don't think so), and I don't have issues with my joints, muscles, or aches. But man, any little gust of wind or heaven forbid stepping outside with damp hair, and I'm down with a cold.

There are times when I'm being super careful, dressing warmly and everything... but the second the temperature shifts slightly, I'm hit with a sore throat, a low fever, a cough, or just all of it at once.

Since I hold a high-responsibility job, I can't really afford to just stay home in bed, so I end up taking antibiotics quite often for these things. Obviously, I'm not just self-prescribing 🙂

If I had to guess, I probably go through a course of antibiotics maybe 6 or 7 times a year (Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Augmentin, whatever they give me).

I should also mention that my diet might be part of the problem, specifically the fact that I never eat salads or anything like that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't believe it, this is literally me two years ago. 😲 We're identical, even down to having a negligent doctor—mine didn't even bother examining me, she just robotically prescribed antibiotics for every single cold.

I haven't had these problems for about a year now. Seriously, I went from 6 or 7 colds a year down to zero (so far). The solution?
Don't push yourself with absurdly intense workouts (I used to be a total fitness freak), get plenty of sleep, and keep social interactions to an absolute minimum (don't freak out, just read 😁 further)—if you see someone who looks even slightly sniffly, just avoid them. I'm not saying you can't hang out with healthy people, just steer clear of anyone showing signs of a cold or worse. If you can't avoid contact, just wash your hands thoroughly after seeing them.

It's probably advice you've heard a million times already, and that was my reaction too, but once I actually applied it, things really did improve.

They were showing it on NBC.
Can anyone actually explain why they even bothered making this movie?
It was awful.
The Fast and the Furious franchise in Movies ·
Fast & Furious is actually kind of innovative, I guess. It’s basically the first mainstream flick that really introduces you to that whole street-racing subculture. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel totally kill it in their roles, the soundtrack is mostly phenomenal, and Tran is a great villain. A lot of people seem to love the ending, but personally, I thought it was stupid. Even stupider because Dom and the crew in the fourth one are still acting salty toward O'Conner. I mean, come on man, a cop lets you walk free and you're still being a jerk about it all these years later?
The second one is the ultimate feel-good movie if you ask me. The vibe is just so relaxed, there's so much laughing and messing around that the original almost feels depressing by comparison. Tyrese brought some fresh energy to the series, and he's definitely going to be a huge hit in the fifth and sixth ones (probably even the seventh too). The plot is a bit shaky and the acting isn't exactly Oscar-worthy, but maybe that was the point of the movie. Honestly, I didn't miss Dom at all in this one; in an atmosphere like that, he would've been a total party-pooper.
Tokyo Drift never clicked for me and it never will. I mean, okay, learning about drifting is interesting, but it's not quite exciting enough to base an entire movie solely on that. And the casting for the lead? Total disaster. Just awful. You've got Lucas Black playing a high schooler who looks like he's thirty and talking with this heavy Southern accent. I read somewhere they passed on Walker because he was too old—which, yeah, I guess they profited from picking someone 7 or 8 years younger, though he's still way too old for the target audience anyway.
Fast & Furious 4 is just a mess. In my opinion, it's the weakest link. It jumps from one location to another, the races are incredibly unrealistic (even Fast Five looks tame compared to this), and the plot is so forgettable that I can barely remember it... Actually, let's just pretend it doesn't exist.
Fast Five brought Dwayne into the mix and that was a massive win. Dwayne probably carried about 50% of that movie on his back. I don't really have any major complaints about it.
The sixth one is like a Looney Tunes version of Good job in Italy. Aside from the usual solid performances from Dwayne and Tyrese, the movie was pretty bad. Maybe the first five and last five minutes were worth watching, but the rest was just mindless entertainment.

If I had to rank them: 1.)Fast Five 2.)Fast & Furious 3.)F&F 2 4.)F&F 6 5.)Tokyo Drift 6.)F&F 4

I guess it would've been better if the senior Wayans had been the one acting like an idiot at Burger King—his son is just way too soft for my taste.
But honestly, all things considered, it’s a pretty solid comedy.

If I remember right, it definitely falls into the "pretty good" category.
Maybe you meant just "average"
I’ll give it props for the crew, the soundtrack, and the fact that the concept felt somewhat fresh back then.
Everything else is just garbage and a total rip-off of what came before.

I guess I agree.

Everything really just boils down to how good the movie actually is. I guess that's the bottom line.
I just watched Dances with Wolves—the shorter version—and I gotta say, it didn't drag for even a second. Not boring at all.
Look, The Wolf of Wall Street isn't exactly some cinematic masterpiece. I don't know, maybe I'm just being harsh, but I honestly wouldn't have ever thought it would drag on for three whole hours.
I only watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy once in my entire life. I did it back-to-back, day after day, giving it my absolute full attention—and look, I guess it was a decent experience to watch, but I wouldn't ever do it again. It just demands way too much effort, and honestly? They definitely could have been shorter.
Sabotage (2014) in Movies ·
Jamie Turner80 said:Honestly, folks, this movie is a total riot from start to finish, and it’s executed with a very specific kind of intention. Every single detail is dialed up to eleven, but somehow, it all feels perfectly placed. If you're looking for credibility or realism, you won't find any here—not even in theory. It makes you wonder why David Ayer, acting as his own writer, would bother seeking input from Skip Woods, an author who is frankly far inferior. My advice? Treat it as pure trash and just enjoy the ride.

Breacher is trash, but it's highly entertaining trash.
This is basically just a pile of crap.
Why do some people just cave to peer pressure? in Psychology ·
Ronald Jones said:I have a question regarding the topic in the title.

To illustrate my point, let me offer a few examples.

a) Suppose we attend a social gathering where, naturally, one is expected to drink something. What is the purpose of this, truly, if I am already aware that I don't enjoy it? In fact, I find the very notion of being obligated quite distasteful. Why is it that people succumb to this pressure, have a few drinks, and then subsequently expect that individual to actually get intoxicated? 😳 🙄 It is quite the same situation with cigarettes. 😳 😳

b) Furthermore, why is there such an obligation to be in a relationship right now? Is there something inherently wrong with me if I am single? Am I supposed to simply abandon all my standards and settle for the very first person who happens to be somewhat attractive? 😳 🍿 Yet, I observe that a vast number of people simply give in to these societal expectations. ☕ ☕

I’ll just answer this specific example based on my own experience.
Drunk people feel awkward around sober people because sober people remember every single detail, and they won't respect that person as much when they see them acting like that.
But when everyone is drunk, any ugly mess from the night before is just brushed off with an "oh, we were just wasted." That's how everything gets forgiven, though if you ask me, a person is more in touch with their subconscious and hidden fears when they're drunk than when they're sober.
I had this acquaintance who I know for a fact has never touched a drop of alcohol in his life. We went to class together for years, and even when he did hang out with us maybe five or six times, at least five or six times people tried to force him to drink something. I was the only one who would buy him a soda; the others would've let him die of thirst.

I stopped going out with that crowd, and I stopped drinking too.
There were times I actually drank just to tolerate those boring people easier, and getting home wasn't even an option because the people waiting for me were even more tedious.
Once I was sober, I realized how incredibly dull those people were, regardless of their state, and I finally saw things clearly and concluded—well, damn, whatever I saw in them doesn't mean I care about their stories at all.

I cut those boring people out of my life, and now I just need to avoid the ones at home. Don't get me wrong, I deeply respect what they've gone through to afford an education, clothes, and food, but we have nothing in common. I can't stand those awkward silences sitting in the same room as them.
So, I dealt with that problem too—I'm pushing my exams to the fall semester (so I actually have something to do over the summer instead of dying of boredom; usually, I breeze through the school year by July), signing up for various courses (with my own money, obviously), planning to volunteer, traveling, stuff like that.

And honestly, I seem way more satisfied with my life now than I was three years ago when I was drinking like a fish, had a huge circle of "friends," and was just rushing to get everything done.
As cliché as it might sound to others—not that I care—it feels like I'm slowly finding myself instead of letting social expectations define who I am.
It’s a good feeling when you start seeing light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂

Honestly, this movie was shockingly bad.
I knew who took the payoff right from the jump, so that final showdown felt incredibly underwhelming.
I’m usually not a fan of that PG-13 nonsense, but if there isn't at least five "fucks" per minute, I'm basically losing my mind.
I don't even know what to say—the trailer promised some spectacular action, but the fights actually look like they're still in pre-production.

How to get abs? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Look, sit-ups really don't do anything for your physique, at least not when it comes to looking ripped or having better muscle definition.
They might strengthen your core and give you some stability for other lifts, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but in your specific case, it's kind of a wasted effort.
What makes someone likable or unlikable to you? in Psychology ·
redbear2 said:No, rather you just haven't grasped what I was actually getting at. My point is simple: people need to accept that loved ones pass away because it's just part of the human condition. They shouldn't be blindsided by it being brought up, especially by some random stranger on the internet.
People lose someone dear to them every single day. If we all had to walk on eggshells constantly, we'd never get anything done.

Don't go acting like your opinion is some absolute truth that only idiots can't wrap their heads around.
I get what you're aiming at—people die constantly, often people they love, and it's a totally normal part of existence.
But, I guess, generally speaking maybe, but on an individual level? No. You can't just tell some guy who has spent his whole life learning how to grieve to suddenly become indifferent to it, or even better, start cracking jokes about funerals just to lighten the mood.
Not everyone can be Mersault (and even he ends up emotionally broken by the end of the book).

As for the topic...
Likable people—an honest smile plays a huge role in whether someone comes across as likable.
Unlikable people—that's actually a bit easier. Egoists, people who never laugh or give fake smiles, people who are completely disconnected from any sense of humor and think their opinion is universal truth (like those terrible clerks at the DMV 😁 ).
