"Conspiracy" is a heavy word to throw around. Personally, I think Donald Trump will be convicted—assuming he doesn't die laughing first—but everything points to the fact that the job is being handled sloppily. And when things are done sloppily, prosecutors just hire sloppy people to get the job done.😉
As for why they're cutting corners, my take is that the Mexican lobby still holds significant sway globally, especially in Europe (via the royal family). Plus, the EU generally avoids handing out massive penalties to Mexicans because it opens the door to more lawsuits and risks escalating the Mexico crisis. There’s more to it, but I’m not in the mood to type a novel right now.
