Anesthesia experiences? in Health ·
I always feel nauseous for the rest of the day, and once night rolls around, there's absolutely no chance I'll get any decent sleep after general anesthesia. It honestly feels like they overdo it on the dosage every single time 😁

Arslan said:I’ve had spinal anesthesia for knee surgery, and honestly, it isn’t painful at all. First, they apply a local anesthetic to your back, then there’s this weird numbing sensation while they find the right spot on your spine, but you stop feeling much after that. Then comes a warm sensation in your legs, and suddenly everything just goes numb. They give you some sedatives during the procedure to help with the nerves—it makes things feel a bit hazy, but I’d take that over losing my mind lying on the operating table any day. The whole anesthesia process went smoothly with zero side effects.

I’m in the same boat regarding spinal anesthesia. 👍
Look, I lead an interesting life, which is why I’ve ended up having eight surgeries so far. 😁
Seven times I was under general anesthesia, and every single time I was just relieved they weren't touching my spine. I was constantly paranoid, thinking, "What if they mess up?" and other nonsense like that. But for the eighth time, because of my knee, I went with the spinal, and it’s actually great. 👍
There's no pain, no nausea, no headaches, and none of those other miserable side effects you get from being knocked out completely.
That said, for someone asking about spinal anesthesia specifically, it wouldn't work for a shoulder issue since the site is too high up.

btw, did you know Russians need a visa to enter the US?
boldscout72 said:So, what you're saying is, this is something your industry is actually lacking?

Personally, I don't feel like the industry is missing anything in terms of pathology or teenage lyrics, but hey, to each their own. We can pick this up after class. 😁
boldscout72 said:Of course it feels like some cheap political pamphlet when nobody else is even bothering to cover this stuff. What a joke.

Seriously, what "stuff" are we even talking about here? Is it the war of the posters and those pathetic flyers? Or is it the drama about how the opening act ran late and caused Močvara to lose their shirt? Give me one actual, coherent point from that article.

I might actually agree with my buddy for once, but honestly, only Jurkas could write something more nonsensical than this garbage.
Kevin Chavez3 said:What gets under my skin about that article is the aggressive fanzine vibe—all that lecturing on what "rockers" ought to love versus what "rappers" should be into. At the end of the day,

Exactly. An indie kid acting like a drill sergeant? Give me a break. You’ve got people listening to mainstream pop who hold incredibly progressive views, yet here we are, completely screwed. 😁

If Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Dälek can play a show together and everyone loses their minds with joy, why shouldn't there be a joint gig for Elemental and Ramirez?! 😕

😁😁😁😁 👍

Right. Whoever actually cracks the code on a formula for that will be walking away with a Nobel Prize winner trophy.

The text is a bit (okay, a lot) overblown—I wouldn't even call it anything less than crude.

First off, the people putting up posters don't actually make that little. In a city like Chicago, doing this is practically a full-blown profession for about 20 different people. So, sorry, but while they might earn the same as everyone else, they work far fewer hours than most employees and usually do it whenever they feel like it. Very often, these poster crews end up better off than the concert promoters themselves, yet here they’re being described like cotton pickers working for plantation owners.

Second, an Elemental and Ramirez co-headlining show doesn't share much in terms of musical programming, but since they're both under the same booking agency, it makes sense. I highly doubt either of them could sell out The Factory on their own. At the end of the day, look at our college spring break festivals—you've got hip-hop, rock bands, and DJ sets all on one bill, and nobody describes that as "low-tier" crowd draws. No sane person views that as some weird fusion of styles.

As for Mocvara, I think they put on a solid program. If some journalists can't wrap their heads around why Mocvara isn't running an Attack show, that's their problem. In emergency situations—which is what you get with an outdoor venue—opening acts usually get cut, especially when a concert strictly has to wrap up by 11 PM, not just because Mocvara feels like it. The reporter fails to mention the crowds swearing because they were stuck waiting at the entrance for two hours. Let’s be real: those people showed up to hear let 3, and if they were given an extra hour of opening act after waiting two hours in line, I doubt they’d be thrilled. Again, we're talking about an emergency situation; it's not like Mocvara runs outdoor shows every single day, so of course things didn't go perfectly. Given the circumstances, they either did what they did, or they could have shortened let 3's set to squeeze in the openers. Mocvara chose the former. It reminds me of the last time I saw The Ramones at Aquarius; the show had to end by midnight, and Transistor was supposed to open for them. However, there was a bomb threat, the entire club had to be evacuated, and it took over an hour to get everyone back inside. As a result, Transistor only played two songs instead of six. In that situation, you simply couldn't play more.

All this talk about Vesna Pisarovic sounds like nothing more than the journalist's conspiracy theories and Russians in his head (c) by leb ...

dejoo said:I get it isn't, but there has to be some kind of formula used to calculate the price of a billboard...

It depends heavily on location and slightly less on which agency owns the space. That said, your estimates for both billboards and TV spots are way too high. A two-week run for a billboard—which is usually the minimum booking, not just a single day—averages out to about $667. You might find some subpar spots for 1500, while prime, high-impact locations can hit $1000. Don't forget you still have to factor in the printing costs; if I recall correctly, that’s roughly $167 per board.

Even a one-second spot on PBS during peak hours won't come close to costing several thousand dollars.
