I have a question for the group: are you guys actually looking at the data here, or just reciting things from memory? Of course, electrical stimulation isn't going to cut it if you're trying to build a physique like a pro bodybuilder, but it’s definitely better than doing nothing at all. Besides, EMS is a standard component in about 90% of medical physical therapy protocols used to target specific muscle groups, so all this talk about it destroying your muscles or wrecking your nervous system just doesn't hold water.
Ryan Ruiz said:Look, man, you’re just being dense. It’s funny how people who don't really care about music—the ones stuck on top 40 radio or whatever is trending—get totally repulsed by stuff like this. Most of them are deeply disappointed by the DJ's set choice, just like those of us who actually have a specific taste. I don't have a problem with pop, Robbie, Lopez, or any of that mainstream filler meant for the masses. But playing these Islamic sounds or Thompson? That’s just primitive, regardless of whether they're hits or not. Go ahead, keep talking nonsense if it makes you feel better.
Sorry, but your mindset is clearly built for listening to Thompson.
Are you actually suggesting that someone would blast techno with an Arabic track in the background inside a mosque? 😕 God help the educated and cultured people left in this world. 🙄
I’m not going to bother commenting on Gall, but let’s be honest: concert reviews are often written before the band even hits the stage. It’s a joke. I remember this one festival at the Danger Zone where "Danger Zone" was supposed to be one of the headliners. On the day of the show, their van broke down or something—long story short, they never showed up. Yet, the review the next morning read: "Danger Zone delivered a phenomenal, high-scale performance to wrap up the festival." 😁 😁 😁
P. S. Biti seriously thought The Beach Boys wouldn't sell out?
Reissuing old albums on CD is a double-edged sword. From what I can tell, the only ones who pulled it off 100% were The Doors and Fleetwood Mac, but they’re in a completely different league than The Ramones. In my opinion, CD reissues are pretty much pointless unless they include some kind of bonus content that hasn't been heard before—maybe one or two unreleased tracks, a live recording, a music video, or a demo version. Maybe I'm wrong. The only guy who could sell the exact same story a thousand times over is Johannes Gutenberg, but even he’s just an exception that proves the rule. I think there are some of us who would definitely buy them, but I doubt the numbers would be anything huge... Maybe if they released them in a limited run, specifically for the hardcore fans or something...
That was the issue—based on your comment about how you prefer Azra and Pankrt over Idol, it makes sense why they aren't on here either. Besides, I realized this is a list of albums, not bands, so there’s really no need to go off on a tangent about your emotional connection to specific groups.
Frank Howard79 said:Paket aranžman is a compilation, not a studio album. Personally, I prefer bands like Pankrt, Discipline Kicme, Luna, La Strada, or Azra over Idol, yet none of them even made the list.
Look, Paket aranžman introduced a whole new way of making music; you could argue it was the first true New Wave album in the old US. It launched three new bands with a completely fresh sound. I don't get why it isn't being considered for this list. It’s not some "Greatest Hits" style compilation...
This isn't about whether Idol is better than your taste or mine (I actually dig them quite a bit too), it’s about that specific record. That album was hailed as one of the greatest American albums ever, and it’s one of the rare ones—maybe the only one—that actually pulled massive reviews abroad, especially in Britain when the scene there was absolutely flooded with great bands. If American albums are being included in this ranking at all, those two should be sitting at the top for a dozen different reasons. What kind of criteria are we even using for this list?
It sounds unbelievable, but it’s true. There actually is life after college where you can keep organizing and hitting up shows even more than you did back in your student days 😉 Anyway, let’s not get too far off track—are you coming to the Mazguni show? 😁
I'll jump in here following up on c.i.k.a's point. Unfortunately, I was actually at the NYSE when that group stormed in from Times Square. Honestly, what gets under my skin most about this whole circus is the insane nationalist-soviet-style fervor and the constant shaming—people acting like you aren't a "real American" just because you won't go out and slit throats for Thompson. Look, hats off to the handball team; I even sat through a match despite not being much of a sports guy, but what I saw on TV coming out of Times Square was frankly: 🙂 And why the hell were they screaming "God Bless America" from the stage? We all know exactly what kind of half-drunk idiots that was trying to rile up in the crowd. 🙄 Even the coach joined in on the mass idiocy with those comments back during the semifinals, suggesting that only true (and by true, he means 😕 ) Americans could pull something like this off. I really wonder how Jumba felt during all that, and I'm sure Smajlagic wasn't exactly thrilled either. In my book, those two aren't just failing the "true American" test—they don't represent us at all. If it were up to me, I'd kick them both off the national team immediately.
Honestly, this lineup beats those typical "Best of the 80s" lists I usually see. Of course, we’ll never agree on the ranking, but when it comes to including the local legends, you have to be careful how you weigh them. Kudos to The Clash, but if we're talking about the most defining records from that era, an all-inclusive package is likely the gold standard, and The Beatles - Abbey Road should probably be sitting right there too. If memory serves, those guys were getting massive respect from international critics back then—especially with Defense and...
Unfortunately, the ticket is going to have to be $10 because they’re bringing in a brass section (Pavlica and Jaksa). Honestly, maybe that’s actually better 😉
