Reiki vs. conventional medicine in Health ·
Quick question for the mods: who actually decided to rename this thread using my name?

Honestly, I’d never post something so ridiculous—I don't think Reiki is even remotely in the same league as mainstream medicine, let alone comparable.

Having a thread titled like this is a total slap in the face to my actual views—especially coming from the mods, who are supposed to be stopping this kind of stuff.

So, either change the title back to what it originally was, or if you're dead set on changing it, pick something that actually fits but doesn't twist my words or just delete the whole thing.
Basically, what you did here is just stupid.

Linda Peterson, your last two posts were so totally contradictory—it’s actually a good thing I caught the second one before replying to the first...🙂

In the first one, you totally missed the point of this thread—at least from my perspective—because even though I don't blindly buy into alternative medicine, I'd never tell anyone to just ditch their actual treatment for it. Even if it does nothing more than give someone a little confidence boost...

But then, in your second post, I think we're actually on the same page...

She’s had a few MRIs done—at least, that's my take on it anyway—but they didn't really confirm anything until they did a biopsy...

anyone else seen it? what'd you guys think..
imho, even without a single line of dialogue, it says way more than most movies out there.. honestly, there aren't even words to describe this thing 🙏

heh, I finally grabbed a projector a few days ago, so I rewatched Baraka—probably for the millionth time—and was actually gonna start a thread about it... you beat me to it.

it's a silent film that leaves you speechless... just totally mesmerizing...
I remember telling someone once that my only gripe was how it doesn't explain certain things—I kept wanting to know the "why" behind some of those shots...

anyway, Baraka👍 👍 👍

not really a counter-argument, but it gets the point across:
maybe those meds just irritated her already sensitive ovaries even more—maybe she just needed some downtime...
way too many "maybes," I know...
my neighbor’s doctor actually banned him from swimming, working out, and put him on this super strict diet because of a bad case of the flu... after two weeks, the guy looked like a walking corpse.
the doc chewed him out for not following orders, which, obviously, pissed my neighbor off.
so, right up until his follow-up, he spent his time hitting the beach in Miami, swimming, playing soccer, and spending his nights eating sausages, bacon from the grill, and drinking beer... and, surprise, surprise, he felt better!
in this case, there was zero "alternative" medicine at play.
right after that, a doctor told us about these "exceptions that prove the rule"—cases where it's actually better to just let things run their course and monitor them rather than treating them immediately.

but man, my friend's situation is just awful.
these "alternative" types want to ditch meds and medical treatments entirely so they can heal people with their "abracadabra" methods.
judging by what happened to her, you don't need a medical degree to try Reiki. honestly, it feels like a bunch of charlatans who read one street pamphlet or a cheap book and suddenly think—BAM, we're doctors now... seriously though...

Can someone, since I'm totally clueless, break this down for me:
I have a friend (36 years old) who—to put it lightly—is going through it right now.
For a few years, her legs were numb, and then that numbness slowly started creeping up to her hips and higher. This year, there were times she couldn't even walk.
She spent months in a hospital in St. Louis where they couldn't even figure out what was wrong. One doctor actually told her how he thinks she might have MS...
Basically, she got transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester where, after a couple of brain biopsies, they found some kind of virus or fungus attacking her nervous system. They also found Hepatitis C, which, combined with the suspected MS, really paints a picture of how "not okay" things are...
She’s fallen into manic depression a few times and has even tried jumping out of windows...
While the illness was progressing, her path crossed with some Reiki practitioners. Apparently, they helped her find a sense of self-control during those incredibly tough moments—which we all just accepted as a group.
At Mayo Clinic, they gave her a specific therapy that actually brought her back "to life"...
After the treatment, she visited a few different spas and, yeah, she definitely looks better.
Now, with approval from the Department of Health, she’s supposed to start interferon therapy to keep the illnesses in check—BUT:
Her mentor, trainer, or whatever that Reiki lady is to her, is demanding she NOT take the therapy because they claim they'll cure her with their "quasi-treatments."
My friend, who is super fragile and insecure right now, went ahead and took the first dose of interferon after being nudged by the rest of us—and her Reiki lady absolutely tore her apart for it. Like, why would she even go get it?

So tell me, what kind of idiots are these? What are they thinking, putting their "higher goals" ahead of the actual well-being of the person they supposedly "care" about?
If we've already accepted that that crappy Reiki helps her regain self-control and confidence, why can't these jerks accept that "regular" medicine can also help manage the disease?
Does one really have to exclude the other?
Can someone seriously be such a jerk as to confuse an already mentally shaken person even more with their pseudo-philosophies?

Reiki people—or whatever / don't sweat it / song no.:19!

Checking out some clips from the Italian press about the last race, and this one snippet from "La Repubblica" really hit home—basically saying if Michael Jordan isn't clicking, Ferrari is totally tanking. Without him, they’re basically nothing right now—just riding his coattails. It's high time the team starts looking for someone younger, hungrier, and actually talented to step up alongside him...

That's it.

Totally on the same page here.

But hey, I just noticed something—the poster shows three people listed under "May"
while Bad Boys says "October"... so how does that work with the way months are named in Ukraine?

Damson said:Eddie Irvin grabbed the title, but Schumacher just can't pull it off with Ferrari—even when he doesn't have Schumi's help—and Rubens gets all those wins once he's in a Ferrari (aka the best car out there) yet still can't rack up enough to win a single season....

Don't forget—Irvine missed out on that title by only two points...
and as for the Brazilian guy, I'm totally with you on that one...

Daniel Fowler9 said:Since 97% of people use Internet Explorer, it's obviously the most standard browser out there.

Internet Explorer isn't actually better—period.
Websites just lean toward it because of that massive user base (plus all the viruses, too, lol)...
The thing you can't ignore is that it comes bundled with the OS.
Out of that 97%, a huge chunk either doesn't even know other browsers exist or wouldn't know how to switch if they did.
Then you've got plenty of folks who know better but aren't using their own machines—so they're stuck with it.
Add in the people who could change but are either creatures of habit or just too lazy to bother, and that "majority" shrinks way faster than you'd think.

If Opera - Simply The Best internet experience had that kind of head start from day one, Internet Explorer wouldn't have stood a chance.

Michael really went at it right out of the gate:

Looks like some technical glitch sent Michael's car spinning into the wall at the Ferrari curve... it almost caught fire too, but thank god it wasn't any worse...

How many MP3-cs do you have on your PC? in Software ·
I don't usually keep music sitting on my computer—just whatever I'm vibing to right now or some fresh tracks I just grabbed while waiting to burn a CD.
Honestly, I've barely got 4-5 GB of music total, so even a massive 200GB HDD wouldn't be enough if I was trying to store all my movies...
