man, when that hand flies out of the grave in Carrie...

it was peak horror TV back in the day—like, ten years ago? I watched every single episode every Thursday and honestly, it still jumpscares me every time... totally wild...

heh, man, that feels like forever ago... from what I remember, he played the (new) Oxygène album in NYC plus a few extra tracks—ran for about an hour and a half or so...
Alright, that's enough. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Alright I’m calling out the mods, Karen Jones68 and Zodiac, to explain themselves to the whole community regarding these cards they handed out—and trust me, I’m not the only one dealing with this.

Their "leadership" is totally out of line—they basically nuked the thread that used to be the most popular spot on the site before Karen Jones68 showed up, which everyone who hangs out in the Jokes subforum has been complaining about. Cards are being handed out for no reason at all. Personally, I got flagged even though my posts followed every single rule on the site and the Jokes board perfectly.

Then yesterday, I caught a warning labeled as "trolling" because of what I said here:
I’ve got a better idea:
1. The mod needs to apologize to everyone for how they mishandled the old thread.
2. Reopen that thread—it doesn't even need a "top thread" tag since it was always at the top anyway.
3. Just politely ask people to stop posting GIFs.

...and then things will go back to normal, no drama and no bad blood.

So, I'm asking the other mods—the ones who actually have some sense—to take a look at the Jokes section, see the mess going on, and get these inexperienced, clueless mods in line.
I've been on this site forever and I've seen mods handle stuff plenty of ways, but usually, they actually step in when things go wrong. Karen Jones68 hasn't done any of that.
She just barged into the subforum moderation and shut down the most active thread without a single warning or heads-up...
That thread—which I started way before this "mod" even knew this site existed—was blown up by a user named Smgslnk, making it the biggest hit on the forum. He actually left the site specifically because of this mess.
It's honestly pathetic that this is allowed, and just as pathetic how some mods just defend their buddies just to cover for each other. There's zero objectivity here.
Quick question! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Karen Jones68 said:Do we have a deal?

Nah, not if you ask me.

It’s pretty obvious that anything goes these days—as long as nobody has to admit they were wrong.
The old thread for Funny pictures hasn't died out or gotten boring at all, actually. If we need to split the GIFs into their own thing—fine, we'll do it—but you could've asked way more politely.
If the thread has to stay locked, then let it just fade away.

Never heard of this one before—it’s produced by the same crew behind "Taken," starring Jean Reno as this total pro killer out for revenge...
Look, it's not winning any Oscars, but honestly? It's a blast. With Jean Reno killing it and tons of action, shootouts, and car chases, it makes for a really solid action thriller.
I'd give it a 7/10

Definitely worth a watch.

hmmm...that little hint about his education level in the album title? personally, I doubt there's any truth to it...

The Pit and the Pendulum—let's just say that's roughly where we draw the line for the Middle Ages.

Man, that’s like a total VHS era flick, right?
Do they actually brick someone alive in that one?

I remember it being a really solid movie—definitely gotta track it down again...

The second version I saw felt less pathetic.

spoiler:
In an alternate ending not included in the US theatrical release, an FBI agent disarms one of the bombs, the camera then pans to reveal a fourth bomb in the same warehouse as it counts down to the time it is set to explode.

...heh, didn't even realize there were two versions... anyway, I watched the one you mentioned in the spoiler.

Unthinkable

Got a fresh rec for all you thriller junkies out there.
It's an awesome thriller/drama—gotta love seeing Samuel L. Jackson, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Michael Sheen leading the charge.

So, this guy Younger (Michael Sheen) converts to Islam and ends up planting several nuclear bombs across the US. An FBI agent named Brody (Carrie-Anne Moss) is running the investigation, trying to track him down, only to realize the military has already snatched him up to squeeze him for those locations.
To get the intel from the prisoner, they bring in this specialist known as "H" (Samuel L. Jackson).
The whole interrogation thing turns into this intense psychological war where everyone's just trying to figure out where they actually stand and what their priorities really are...

Honestly, such a great flick. That 7.4 on IMDb isn't even being generous—personally, I’d give it way more.
Definitely check it out.
Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009) in Movies ·
Anthony Smith3: Universal Soldier: Regeneration is actually a decent watch... I kind of suspected 🙂

if they'd put a bit more effort into it, this could've been way better—mostly because the plot drags. The story isn't fleshed out quite right, and those undead soldiers who suddenly get a conscience? Not exactly the best drivers for the narrative. Plus, the leads, JCVD and poor Dolph, look like they just escaped from a nursing home 🙂

Still, for a mindless action flick, "US:R" holds up. A few scenes are shot beautifully, and the fight choreography is solid too (like when JCVD hits poor Dolph with a low roundhouse and he goes horizontal for a second 👍 )

Verdict: give it a watch.

heh, Talking Heads...
definitely one of my absolute favorite bands from the '80s—with a frontman who is, as a buddy of mine would put it, weird, like really weird...
I still remember those performances where he'd do those "quirky" bits—like when he’d spend an entire song "chopping" his left arm with his right hand (going from the bicep, to the elbow, down to the forearm, wrist, and back up again) or just doing that shoulder shimmy while wearing those oversized blazers 🙂

or, one of my personal favorites: once in a lifetime...you seriously can't deny this guy's originality for even a second 😁

there are just too many hits to count—stuff you still hear blasting on the radio all the time today...

Talking Heads were such a massive, massive band.
