@Pilatus, you don't even believe those Lewis Hamilton fairy tales anymore; you've outgrown them.

Call him whatever you want

The President wants some private time with Tibi to grill some lamb.
stormytiger4 said:Honestly, it’s time for Lewis Hamilton to just call it quits and head into retirement. As for Valtteri Bottas, he should probably jump ship to some random backmarker team in the States. Then, come next season, we can finally see Sergio Perez and George Russell in the Mercedes-AMG seats. Or, if we want to get really wild with it, put Bottas back in there, swap Russell for him, and stick Perez in instead of Alexander Albon.

Why is the discourse so low here?

You're supposed to be the "class act" of this forum

Someone who’s never shown even a hint of being a bigot

And then you go and drop something like this.
wiredfalcon2 said:Seriously, people should actually listen to Beyond the Grid.

I don't do propaganda.
wiredfalcon2 said:Look, I'm telling you—and I’ve already given you the list you just quoted, so maybe pay attention—half the grid didn't grow up with some psycho-ambitious parents forcing them into a cockpit at age five. The other half just had older brothers or sisters racing, making them heroes to a six-year-old kid who basically got hooked on the sport because of them, kind of like how Gasly or Norris ended up. Then those older siblings quit to go do literally anything else, while Gasly and Norris kept going. You'd probably know all this if you actually listened to the drivers on the Beyond the Grid podcast instead of trying these cheap psychological projections that aren't even based on reality. Go-karting is just damn fun. When you're a single-digit kid, let alone a teenager, nobody needs to hold a gun to your head to make you do it. Even Ricciardo didn't have it all figured out by fifteen, and he still turned out to be a top-tier driver.

Between ages 5 and 15, everyone changes their mind about what they want to be in life a hundred times a day.

Nobody ever gave Stroll, Norris, Latifi, Russell, Sainz, etc., a chance to change their minds. They were basically born into an assembly line for professional athletes.

It's the same in every sport. People start too early—that's why they all end up acting like idiots in the end.
wiredfalcon2 said:Cut the crap.

Fine

So you’re actually claiming a five-year-old knows exactly what they want to do with their life

Like, they have this perfectly set goal to be a driver

And that desire just stays rock solid without ever shifting while they grow up

Is that really your stance?!
Kenneth Cruz67 said:Well, you've certainly piqued my interest now!

It seems to me the old man has a fetish for Ferrari, rather than a true love for Formula 1 itself.

Their real surname might have been something else entirely before they rebranded to Stroll—perhaps they have Jewish roots, and maybe even a distant ancestor from our neck of the woods!

And here are his mother and sister.

They certainly aren't bad looking, I must say! 🍿

Intrigued by what exactly?!

By the fact that guys like Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, and the rest were probably never even asked if they actually wanted to be drivers. This whole "dream" is forced on them before they can even tie their own shoes. We're talking kids starting go-karts at 5 or 6 years old—no way a toddler is making career decisions, right? It’s just their dads' ambitions being shoved down their throats.

Now, the older generation—think Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, etc.—who didn't start until they were 14 or 15? You can bet that was their choice.

But these modern drivers? They're basically just there to fix their fathers' ego issues.

Even the successful ones, like Carlos Sainz for example.
Kenneth Cruz67 said:I mean, if my dad had actually bought me a Formula 1 team just so I could drive, I doubt even someone like Ayrton Senna would have been able to push me around as a second driver, let alone some guy like Sebastian Vettel.

Thinking the Walton family bought a team just for young Stroll to drive is a complete delusion.

The elder Stroll bought the team for himself. He’s the one living out unfulfilled dreams through his kid.

Young Stroll is basically just there to satisfy his father's twisted ego.

Nobody ever actually asked young Stroll if he even wanted to be a driver—his dad just made the call for him.

If Formula 1 was actually young Stroll's dream instead of his father's, there isn't a God alive who could force the old man to drop a single cent on his son's career.

So yeah, Aston Martin is just a toy for the father, and young Stroll is just there to fix his old man's complexes.

And that's exactly why having a top-tier first driver matters so much to the elder Stroll—he cares about the team's overall standings.

Deep down, he knows his son just doesn't have the talent.
Kenneth Cruz67 said:Look, I have a soft spot for Alonso and all, but honestly, I think Lewis is just a bit more my style. I'm really looking forward to seeing him grab that eighth title and absolutely shatter every single record out there. 😁

If anyone is actually going to be in need of help, I'd say it’ll probably be you next year when the Stroll family starts acting out against Vettel. 😛

Good grief, where do you even get this much hate?!

You must be a seriously miserable person deep down, huh?

Did you have a rough childhood or something?
Bummer. Been really starting to dig Lewis Hamilton lately—but hey, it’s AI, right? Clearly just an issue with the car. And having a mediocre teammate doesn't help either.

Such a waste of seven seasons on a totally mid driver.
You could also say Minchia—pronounced like "minkja"—but then you lose the rhyme

fadedwalker18 said:He proved himself back in '97 and '98, showing he had the raw talent and potential. He just never quite hit the jackpot in Formula 1 to truly cement his status as the GOAT.

So he spent two seasons driving a car that went on to win four championships.

And what did he actually do during those two years?

Absolutely nothing worth mentioning.
fadedwalker18 said:Giancarlo Fisichella is miles ahead of Valter Bottas as a driver. It's a proven fact.

And how exactly was that "proven"?

Come on—drop even one shred of evidence!
stormybadger8 said:Things could go south fast here...
And honestly, Lewis Hamilton sitting this one out might be the turning point for several F1 careers...

First off, Valtteri Bottas could lose his seat if George Russell proves he's actually better—and given Bottas' recent form, that’s not even a crazy thought...
I mean, Russell isn't exactly a stranger to the Mercedes setup or the car...
If that happens, Mercedes wouldn't have much of a dilemma. They're already grooming Russell for the seat anyway, and he's got enough F1 experience under his belt...
So, I wouldn't be shocked if Russell pulls off a stellar result and instantly snags that 2021 Mercedes seat, regardless of whatever contract Bottas currently holds...

Secondly, since Russell is basically pulling a Hulk situation where he can't seem to grab a single point, this could be a massive setback. He might even start looking at an exit from F1 altogether...
It would be pretty brutal if he fails to bag that famous first point even while driving a Mercedes. It gets even worse if Jack Aitken (who's subbing for him) manages to snatch a point for Williams this season... 🤦
And it's totally possible, because Williams could actually show some life on this outer lap 😳
What kind of message does that send about Russell and Nicholas Latifi constantly failing to score? You've got Russell failing even in a Mercedes, while Aitken jumps in and grabs a point on a whim 🤦

Hold up. Jack Aitken hasn't even sat in the car yet and you're already counting his points

Here's how it'll actually go

Bottas Top 3
Russell Top 10
Jack Aitken Top 19
fadedwalker18 said:It seems the GOAT "caught" COVID-19 from being too intimidated by the metal safety barriers at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

That joke was about as successful as Grožan's attempt at an overtake.
mellowtiger83 said:This is a fundamental misunderstanding of Formula 1. Truly elementary. Whoever steps into that seat isn't going to be anywhere near Valtteri Bottas's level. Not because they lack talent, but because they are entering an entirely foreign driving environment with an unfamiliar car, new mechanics, and all that.

Relying on such theories is frankly ridiculous.

For instance, the idea that if Daniel Ricciardo from Renault replaced Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, he would just get washed out—or that if Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas took over, they’d dominate him—it ignores the reality of that first race under replacement conditions.

Look who's talking.

You can't tell Ayrton Senna apart from Alessandro Pierro.
gentlemoose57 said:We're hunting for that win.

Unlikely. Just look at Valtteri Bottas's track record over the last few races.
fadedwalker18 said:That is, assuming they don't end up hitting the wall like Grosjean did one day (bless his heart), or something along those lines.

Either way, someone is getting a shot at Lewis's car—it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you just can't pass up.

🍿

Grosjean didn't hit a wall—he hit the barrier.
Honestly, anyone stepping in should be looking at a Top 10 finish—it's a fair expectation. But let's be real, the track is gonna be a complete mystery to everyone, so last weekend's data basically means nothing.
