Anyone else dealing with syphilis? in Health ·
With the blessing of our moderator, Fiber, I’m kicking this thread off

Therefore;

I’m asking because I’m genuinely curious—just my inquisitive nature acting up. Plus, syphilis has always been a fascinating disease to me. Don't get it twisted, I don't have it, never have, and I don't know anyone who does. But it would be wild if someone on here actually had it and could give us the real story. Like, how did you catch it? How much did it suck? How'd you clear it up? Any permanent damage left behind? Just wondering... ☕

jadeseal7 said:Look, if he’s getting paid peanuts to leave Mercedes-AMG, he should at least show some damn backbone behind the wheel—it shouldn't all be about the money. Then again, who knows how any of us would act in that spot?

To me, Rubens Barrichello is the ultimate cautionary tale of a number two driver.

Barrichello actually made history as the guy with the most starts, being the first ever to hit the 300-race milestone.

Before him, the record sat with Riccardo Patrese at 256 for about fifteen years.

And honestly, that's his legacy. If he hadn't played the loyal soldier, he wouldn't have even gotten those starts, let alone been remembered at all.

So yeah, don't lose any sleep over him.

Save your sympathy for guys like Sebastian Enjolras—drivers who never even got a real shot at showing what they could do.

Well, clearly they’re just screwing him over with his contract to keep him quiet through the 2016 season—if I were in his shoes, I'd be doing the exact opposite.

Mark Webber did the exact opposite—and look how that turned out.

you are absolutely insane.
I am eagerly awaiting those explanations 🙏

Alright, let's go through this—but I'll be quick since I don't have much time.

(And please, move all this over to the Formula E thread, because this one is titled "blah blah blah and other high-octane sports," and there isn't a single drop of octane in Formula E—so we are totally off topic)

Sebastian Buemi = Ayrton Senna
The guy grabs pole positions like it's nothing. Just dominates. Unless some crazy outlier happens—like a breakdown or a wreck—he wins. As a driver, and just as a person, he feels like he belongs in that world. It’s like you can view the entire Formula E grid through him. He's basically the textbook definition of a dominant driver. Plus, he's charming and good-looking—just like Ayrton Senna.

Nico Rosberg = Riccardo Patrese
Fast enough and technical enough to hang near the front if he's got a solid car. But not quite fast or technical enough to actually sit at the top with a great car. Senna—sorry, Buemi—is going to eat him alive. Just like his teammates have eaten him up so far. But like Patrese, he'll just keep hanging on and on. Even though his teammates ate him alive too.

Ayrton Senna = Andrea de'Cesaris
Not fast enough, not consistent enough, and constantly crashing. But hey, the guy clings on season after season like a tick. He'll crash again, we'll see plenty of him, but he's never actually seeing a win.

Jacques Villeneuve = Carel Godin de Beaufort Nelson Piquet
Just drives for the hell of it and has a blast doing it. A one-man army against everyone else.

Nelson Piquet = Niki Lauda
Exactly like Lauda at the start of his career—questioned, dismissed, and made a laughingstock. But as the years roll by, Nelson Piquet is turning into an increasingly high-quality driver. That win in NASCAR - Nationwide at Road America was a masterpiece. He had a few more really, really solid performances in Camping World and Nationwide too. Then there's Rallycross, and now Formula E—where he's the world champion. Wouldn't surprise me to see him back in Formula 1. If Symmonds came back, why wouldn't Nelson Piquet?

bird = = Gerhard Berger and Lucas di Grassi
The polar opposite of Lauda. Those massive expectations at the start of his career turned into absolutely nothing. As time goes on, the driver just gets dimmer and dimmer.

Lucas di Grassi = Mansell
Compensates for a lack of talent with sheer willpower. Which occasionally results in a random win. With a decent car, he could even grab a title. We'll see plenty of di Grassi. There'll be plenty of drama.

Nick Heidfeld = Nick Heidfeld
That thick beard full of bugs has never seen a victory. Neither the beard nor the bugs. Won't either.

graniteharbor502 said:Good grief, I honestly believe Nico Rosberg manages to rack up more mistakes in a single weekend than his uncle did during his entire career 🤦
I find myself wondering, what on earth is happening with Trulli's team?

Given he started racing so late and never even touched a kart, Nicholas is actually a killer driver

Anyway—last names are totally misleading. Here's how I see them:

Sebastian Buemi = Ayrton Senna
Nico Rosberg = Riccardo Patrese
Bruno Senna = Andrea de'Cesaris
Jacques Villeneuve = Carel Godin de Beaufort
Nelson Piquet = Niki Lauda
Sam Bird = Gerhard Berger
Lucas di Grassi = Nigel Mansell
Nick Heidfeld = Nick Heidfeld

I'll break it down properly this afternoon—too busy right now

this is what happens when you go begging for illegal links—you get so warped by your piracy habits that it doesn't even occur to you to just look for the official link

perfectly official, perfectly legal, and perfectly free links right here:

Formula E official channel where they stream absolutely every single race, qualifying session, and practice

and if you miss the live stream, you can always watch it later since they archive everything permanently

here’s the other race Indianapolis ePrix—eight and a half hours of perfectly official, perfectly legal, and perfectly free streaming covering all practices, qualifying, and the race itself

It’s just pure logic. It’s not actually that crazy. Don't be so dramatic.
But Formula E definitely has potential. We'll see how it plays out...

Come on, Jacques, stop daydreaming and get a grip. This is your last chance. Sure, Antonio Felix da Costa rattled you a bit, but hey, you've been around long enough to handle it.

Once again—you clearly haven't grasped a thing. Typical. Your capacity for abstract thought is basically a zero—not even a digit, just a void.

The beauty of it is that Trulli can just do whatever he wants. Total freedom.

That’s why nobody knows what kind of engine or gearbox Trulli is running—because in Formula E, they actually have freedom. In Formula 1, you've got that total control freak running the show. That's the difference right there.

Nico Rosberg isn't even that bad—it's more about how good Sebastian Buemi actually is.

Sebastian Buemi is a top-tier driver—Red Bull seriously messed up when they let him go.

Pure genius!!!! This is exactly why I’m obsessed with Formula E

If you don't see how beautiful this is, you aren't even watching motorsports—honestly, you'd be better off just watching football.
Formula E in Formula 1 ·
Honestly, Formula E is basically what Formula 1 used to be back in the day

We're talking 8 different engine manufacturers. 8 totally unique setups. Some guys are running a single gear, others have 3 or 4. Every one of those 8 teams has completely distinct motors, gearboxes, and rear suspensions—the only thing they actually share is the front end.

Here's a quick rundown of the changes and new tech hitting this season

And if you want the full experience, here’s the entire opening race in China—everything from practice and qualifying to the interviews and the actual race itself

So, if you've got 9 hours of raw footage—which works out to maybe 6.5 hours net—it's worth your time to watch the only racing series that actually makes sense anymore

I'm actually hyped about Formula E. It's been ages since I felt this way about Formula 1—probably last back in 2009 when I got excited about them bringing back slicks. That was about it.

I've been saying for ages—it's McLaren that's the weak link here, not Honda.

McLaren’s been building absolute garbage cars for years now—honestly.

Don't forget—McLaren used to run Mercedes engines back in the day. Those Mercedes power units were practically legendary.

And what did he go and do? Ruined Marijan's kit!

neonfox65 said:I was thinking "peak technology" meant keeping NASCAR the fastest—since even the drivers say they just want to drive the quickest cars out there. But honestly? I don't care about the tech side of things—it's all about the show.

Tech has absolutely zero to do with speed

it's all about the rules

Just strip the weight down to 450-500 kilos. Throw in some 3.5 or 4-liter turbo engines, ground effects, and massive tires—boom, you've got speed. And none of that is actually "cutting edge" tech. Maybe fifty years ago we could talk about high-end engineering—but today? That kind of car would be a total dinosaur. A super fast dinosaur, obviously.
NASCAR technical in Formula 1 ·
neonfox65 said:Even today's IndyCar has way too many wings. Formula 1 should stay the peak of technology, but personally, I think we need to ditch the aero and focus more on mechanical grip.

You're totally contradicting yourself here.

You’re calling for the peak of tech, yet you want that peak of tech to provide "exciting" racing.

The problem is that peak technology—by its very nature—results in incredibly, incredibly boring races. Why? Because a top-tier machine:

1) Is too easy to drive
2) Never breaks down
3) Has at least a 3-second advantage over everyone else

If you actually want excitement, stick to technically backward formulas—like NASCAR—because high-tech series have never really delivered much thrill. Real excitement happens when a car struggles under imperfect conditions—when things go wrong, when the tires shred, when the gearbox fails, when it understeers or oversteers, or when the engine loses power and the driver has to save the day with pure skill.

A technically perfect car just blasts from start to finish at the fastest possible speed where nothing can ever go wrong.

By definition, that's not interesting. Watching a technically perfect formula would be like watching the hands of a clock spinning perfectly in circles.

neonfox65 said:Honestly, I think the McLaren was faster than the Ferrari—back then, Ferrari wasn't even top three for pace in 2010 or 2012. It was only thanks to Alonso that they were actually in the title fight. Like I've said before, from 2009 until now, Ferrari hasn't built a car that was consistently at the front of the pack even once!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... we get it. They’ve probably already carved that into stone in the Bible by now.
