Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
I know my situation isn't exactly the same as yours, but I saw my anesthesiologist this past Wednesday. I was also on antibiotics because of some nasty gum inflammation. She told me there was no connection between the two. But hey, you’re better off getting an answer from someone more qualified than me.
Wait, weren't you just in NYC?? So it really is a private clinic after all. Fine, I'll drop the name of my doctor right here. Since we're talking about an internal incision, it's just a septoplasty—I'm not losing sleep over it. I'm well aware that some of these places can be a bit "shaky," but honestly, my doctor seems far more skilled than yours. He told me straight up: things can't get any worse than they are now. I'm being realistic and I know the risks involved. I've heard your story, but my mind is made up. I truly wish you the best and hope your procedure finally goes well!!
Alright, so I didn't miss anything then. Thanks a lot!
I went to see the anesthesiologist this morning and was in and out in exactly five minutes! All they did was ask if I have any allergies or take any medications, and then we were done. They didn't tell me anything about what I *can't* consume before surgery or how long I need to wait. My blood pressure was 140/90, but they didn't even blink at that. Am I going to have another sit-down with the anesthesiologist right before the procedure, or is that really it? How did things go for you guys?
Look, go somewhere else and ask around. There’s a mountain of info already posted in this thread, so do yourself a favor and actually read it. No one can tell you exactly how things will play out in your specific situation; everyone's experience is different.

Good for you, then.😂

Haha, you bet. 🤣
analogbison15 said:If I have supplemental insurance, can I get surgery for free? I'm interested in cosmetic stuff—is it possible to just tell the doctor I have trouble breathing so they'll do it for nothing?

Not going to happen. You really think they're just sitting around waiting for someone to walk in, claim they can't breathe, and hand them a free ride?! 😂

🎉 Thanks for the reply, I feel much better now!! 🙂
I was sent for an EKG during my first month of pregnancy ahead of nose surgery.
Can someone please explain what these results actually mean? Is this anything to worry about, and am I still cleared for the operation? I'm 27.

EKG: Sinus rhythm 86 bpm, poor R wave progression in V2 and V3, intermediate left axis deviation.
So, kitten meat 🤣 She claims that cats (obviously) can eat raw meat, which means they can catch toxoplasmosis
and then pass it through their waste.
Nobody mentioned anything about eating kitten meat, for God's sake. 😂
Advertising is strictly prohibited, and I don't work for Sun Insurance 🤣 just imagine😂
So, you’re judging Sun Insurance's clinic without ever stepping foot inside?
You claim everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yet you spend half your life aggressively shoving yours down everyone else's throat on basically every health thread here.
Robert Scott16 said:For those of you who’ve gone under the knife to fix your nose—was it strictly a medical necessity like a deviated septum, or did you do it purely for the aesthetics?

Anyone here go in strictly for the aesthetics, while using a deviated septum as a convenient excuse?

A deviated septum isn't something you can just fake or act out. Nobody walks into a hospital purely for vanity—unless, of course, you think people are getting reconstructive surgery covered by Medicare just for looks?

Fair enough, but I’d still want a direct answer from the anesthesiologist before I start prepping.

I have what might seem like a silly question, but I’d really appreciate some clarity here.
In about a month, I’m scheduled for nose surgery under general anesthesia. Since my cycle is pretty irregular, I’m wondering: what happens if my period starts on the actual day of the procedure? Is that a contraindication for the surgery itself, or specifically for the general anesthesia? Or are the two completely unrelated? Just for context, I’m not on any oral contraceptives or other medications.
Thanks in advance for any insight.🙂
I have septum surgery scheduled for January. Since my period is irregular, I’m wondering what happens if it hits on the actual day of the procedure. I don't have the exact date yet, but it should fall between January 10th and 13th. Will they actually go through with the surgery, or will they just send me home?😕
What do you guys think of him? What's his deal? in Psychology ·
I haven't read a thread this brainless on this forum in a long time. ☕

Melissa Wright8 said:It’s obvious you haven't had surgery before, because if you had, you wouldn't be asking for a second opinion twice. I don't get why you think someone would intentionally screw you over... private clinics want to fix your nose perfectly; they don't want to ruin your face and kill their reputation. A little positivity and trust wouldn't hurt you.

Go back and read the old threads. There are plenty of cases where private doctors absolutely botched it.
I'll believe whoever I want to believe, which means I trust a hospital more than a boutique clinic.
Your "good experience" doesn't mean a damn thing to me!
