I’m not entirely certain, though I suppose it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

The topic you decided to kick off here doesn't actually have anything to do with love, eroticism, or sex.
It feels more like some kind of low-rent tabloid gossip session to me. 😁

I’ve been sitting here wondering where all that gold actually ends up, who’s really pulling the strings behind those scenes, and where you even go to find them if you're looking. It makes you think about who’s actually playing the game and who’s just getting played while everyone else is busy chasing shadows. I don't even know where to begin with this one. It’s just one of those things that leaves you staring at the wall, wondering how we all ended up here. You might as well jump into the discussion here, too. 🤷

I heard word that a few members of that elite inner circle might be showing up to this same discussion, so you might just end up crossing paths with one of them. 🙂

🙂

hahaha 😂
Wait, did you actually delete it?
I mean, how many threads can you delete in just a few hours before you lose track? hahahah 😁
And it wasn't supposed to be a gossip thread. Honestly, I'm just curious about how those rich guys perform in bed. hahaha
Oops. I really hope I don't get a snappy comeback 🤣 like "go find out yourself" heheh

By the way, that other thread you mentioned is closed too.

But if it isn't bacterial, I’m not wasting my time on antibiotics—they only work against bacteria. Usually, when I see her and tell her my only symptoms are sneezing and coughing, she just brushes me off with a "you probably have sinus inflammation" and tells me to go home and use a humidifier. So, that's exactly what I do! Though honestly, I lose track of how many times a day I end up doing it.

So, an insinuation about the American jet set...
Obviously.
There was actually an open thread about them on Reddit
And the core question being asked was whether they actually fall in love—or even sleep with people like us, the ordinary mortals.
Why was it deleted?
Did someone take offense or what? No explanation, no warning, no ban; the thread just vanished. I don't get it.🤷

It’s been ten days since this cold started. I’m still coughing up phlegm, and my nose is running thick, bright yellow—with a bit of blood mixed in. Honestly, I'm assuming the blood is just a busted capillary, but the yellow part? No clue. Maybe it's just plasma, or who knows if I've got some kind of internal scratch. Hm. 😕
Do you think I should see a doctor?

I think this approach is spot on. 👍
I'm not sure I could actually pull it off myself—I don't have the stomach for physical confrontation—but they do say still waters run deep, and personally, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for a little payback. 😁

Clindamycin lotion mixed with some raw jojoba oil... honestly, I wouldn't say it did much
but it’s still a better option than taking pills.
Can a common cold actually pose a serious risk to someone with heart disease—specifically a heart attack survivor who is managing their condition with medication and regular treatments to keep their arteries clear? I know the heart isn't as strong as it used to be, but can a cold, particularly the strain from coughing, put extra stress on the heart and lead to further complications?
The same question applies to those dealing with thyroid issues and high blood pressure: does a persistent cough carry the same level of risk for them?

What exactly is native propolis? I assume you can pick it up at a local pharmacy, but what’s the damage on price?
By the way, I'm currently in that stage where I'm coughing up mucus that's basically trickling out of my nose. It’s thin, ranging from pale yellow to bright yellow. I know the mucus is the culprit behind this brutal cough I've got. My dilemma is whether I should just let my body "clear itself out" naturally or if I need to actually medicate. The coughing is intense and irritating; I nearly gagged this morning because it was so suffocating. Hm.
I'll try nasal inhalation again tonight. Last time I had a cold, that was the only thing that saved my throat from all that irritating drainage. Anyway, this cold has already dragged on for a week. Khm. Is that unusual?
Common Cold in Health ·
Wait, what on earth do you mean by mother's milk? 😲
Common Cold in Health ·
I barely spent any time out in the sun this summer. I’m pale as a ghost. And since I'm not even working right now, there isn't even a 😕 reason for this. Honestly, I have no idea why I've come down with a cold. It's almost as if some invisible particle drifted through the air and decided to settle right in my nose... damn it all.

My sinuses don't even hurt, even when I apply pressure!

I woke up this morning with some green phlegm after spending the entire night breathing through my mouth. Is anyone else dealing with this? O.o

Slept through half the day, my head is pounding, and I barely even touched my tea... don't ask why. 😢
This isn't going away anytime soon... ☕

So, the last time I caught a cold was back in February. It’s the exact same symptoms, everything is identical. I can already feel the stages rolling in this time too... first comes the stinging in my nose, then that stinging combined with a slight hoarseness, and by the third day, the nasal irritation subsides and I just start dealing with the congestion (the runny nose, if 😬). Honestly, I have no idea why I picked this up right now. I haven't been hanging out with anyone sick; everyone around me seems perfectly fine. The only thing I did differently was eat some cold rice straight from the fridge and wash it down with a soda. Even though experts claim consuming cold food has nothing to do with developing viral or bacterial infections (I'm not entirely sure which one I've managed to grab this time), it feels to me like that cold meal triggered some kind of reaction in my throat lining, and now everything is inflamed.
I don't quite get why this happens during such specific windows of time. For instance, just a week ago, a friend and I polished off a whole quart of ice cream—obviously freezing 😁—and I felt absolutely fine.
Is it about microscopic particles floating in the air that somehow find their way into my respiratory system? Or is it just the seasonal shifts (autumn arriving and temperatures dropping) making me more susceptible? Is it possible that the germs were sitting in my throat the whole time and just reactivated once conditions became favorable? I really don't know 🤷. If there's an expert out there who can weigh in, I'd appreciate it.

A few other thoughts...
People say honey is a cure-all... but so far, I haven't noticed any significant difference. For example, when I drink rosehip tea with lemon, I don't really care if there's honey in it or not; my body recovers at the same rate regardless.
The last time I had a full-blown cold, the worst part only lasted three days... I assume that's because of the sheer amount of tea I drank. So, tea definitely helps. But the question is, does plain warm water work just as effectively as tea?
Does lemon actually provide a rapid effect on the throat and a cold? There's a big difference between sipping lemonade daily and practically swallowing a whole lemon over three days just to cope.
As for sage steam inhalation, I'm less certain about that, though I suspect it helps once the throat has healed but remains irritated due to post-nasal drip.
Regarding sleep... I think it helps too. However, my uncle argues that staying in bed has the exact opposite effect on colds and the flu. His theory is that the body recovers faster if we stay active. On the other hand, my doctor points out that if you don't rest through a fever, you haven't actually beaten the illness, and by moving around while contagious, you're just risking infecting others. Which one is it? 😕
Then there's this interesting theory from my old English teacher, who claims it's actually healthy to eat cold things straight from the fridge without warming them up, supposedly to make the throat more resilient against colds. I don't think I can apply that logic to myself, though; my throat is incredibly sensitive (for instance, even talking for a bit too long makes it sting). What are your thoughts on this?
While specialists argue that inflammation occurs precisely because of those temperature fluctuations... suggesting that if we consume something hot, we shouldn't follow it with something cold, or that smokers shouldn't drink cold beverages because cigarette smoke keeps the throat lining in a state of constant, mild inflammation.

Oh, and I forgot... antibiotics... I prefer to save those for extreme cases, whereas my aunt thinks I should be loading up on them every time I sniffle. It's common knowledge by now that those little nasty things called bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics incredibly fast. Besides, it's Saturday, so I can't even get an appointment with my doctor if I wanted to. Happy weekend!
Or when someone just relies on terrible logic... like claiming "that billionaire is a great politician simply because he’s wealthy." Or when you see a smart person fail to land a solid comeback against someone twice as dim-witted as them.
kaktus-car said:Crime is a personal choice, so we shouldn't support it. How is that a stupid argument?

Exactly, that's my point. I can't stand weak arguments. And honestly, you came out on top here just by firing back with that sentence...
At the end of the day, it’s technically true that a theist shouldn't get worked up over an atheist, but we're human. I'm an atheist, and frankly, it gets under my skin when dealing with theists. I don't care for religion at all—regardless of the denomination or format. And I have every right to say so.
I find the whole thing quite bothersome too; it’s hardly surprising. It’s a good thing we can be honest about it 👍
coppermason said:Ever have those moments where people basically manufacture a reason to be mad at you for absolutely nothing? Like, I call my friend this morning to grab coffee, and she tells me she’s staying in all day—she was even venting yesterday about having a mountain of chores to tackle at home, so I just said "cool" without making it a thing. Fast forward two hours, and there I am, stuck at a red light next to her and another friend. We're honking and yelling, "Hey, lookin' good!" since she didn't hear us, and then suddenly she gets pissed off because I'm out and about with someone else when she supposedly wasn't. It makes zero sense... ugh! Honestly, I'm mostly just annoyed at myself for letting these stupid little things get under my skin.😠😠😠

Then there's my brother, who's being a total moron, acting like he has the right to critique every life choice I make while completely ignoring the mess his own decisions have created.

I know exactly how you feel...
mistyranger42 said:I guess I just struggle with people in general. Like, good people are fine, but even a useful tool is no good if it's cutting your throat.

But when you mix stupidity with actual malice? That just totally destroys me.

I don't think I've ever heard a better analogy for humanity, besides "man is a wolf to man." 👍 Kudos if you came up with that yourself.
I hope we aren't descending into pure misanthropy here... I still believe there are people who make life worth living, even if they feel a million miles away from me right now.😢
She walks into my room and tells me I’m not allowed to have the blinds up. Apparently, her mother said so. 🙄 Good grief, I can't even lift the blinds in my own room if I want to. It's ridiculous.
I am seriously losing it over this kind of nonsense. I cannot wait until I finally have my own apartment. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

By the way, I just asked my roommate, and she agrees—it definitely stinks.
😍 So it’s clearly not some medical issue on my end.
Yesterday was clearly a bad day for my appetite... and today looks to be more of the same.
😢
But fine, go ahead and 😁 lock the thread if you have to.
My sense of smell is working perfectly fine!

fadedmarlin402 said:Common causes for loss of smell:
1- acute viral, bacterial, or allergic inflammation of the upper respiratory tract (including rhinitis and sinusitis)
2- anatomical issues in the nasal cavity (deviations, polyps, tumors)
3- inhalation of toxins, drugs, or certain medications
4- radiation exposure (accidental or therapeutic)
5- mucus secretion disorders
6- neurological damage to the olfactory system
7- endocrine issues
8- psychophysiological conditions

Take your pick... 😁
I’d say you’re looking at either a mild viral infection or perhaps something psychophysiological.
Hopefully, it isn't just the stale air from that bathroom you enjoy so much... 😂

1— I don't have any inflammation right now; my breathing is perfectly clear through my nose.
2— No issues there; airflow feels completely normal. 😁
3— I've only taken Aspirin lately—just three tablets, one a day because of a headache.
4— Unlikely... incidental? 😕
5— No mucus issues at all, aside from a little buildup in the morning.
6— What does that entail?
7— Hmm?? 😕
8— Doubtful; I don't have any diagnosed conditions, at least nothing known.🤷
placidjackal36 said:It's quite serious. It can be a symptom. Those phantom smells that nobody else detects, which suddenly appear and then recur.

But it doesn't have to be.

But if it were, wouldn't I have other symptoms? Besides, the smells aren't even that strange since I know exactly where they're coming from—my food!
Or maybe it's just a bad run of luck and everything I've eaten lately was poorly prepared.😢
