Mind you, it’s not some scene-by-scene recreation of actual events. They just took the case of that infamous guy Leatherface who had a thing for snacking on people.

And hey, a little clever marketing never hurt anyone.🙂

Yep...
I was pretty shocked myself when I read it was based on true events.

But in reality—it isn't.

It's loosely inspired by Leatherface, who didn't live in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, wasn't out killing teenagers, and certainly wasn't mass murdering people with a chainsaw.

Plus, the movie draws from old stories about cannibalistic families in the UK and other similar monsters.

You can find all the links about this on IMDb.

So now I'm asking you lot—is this thing actually real, or what...

Because if it really happened, I might just have to pack my bags and leave this planet entirely. 🙂

As far as the movie goes, it's a bit too brutal for my taste.

Man, I am absolutely loving this movie!
👍

Look, I’m usually not one for romance flicks, but this one hits different. It’s got the comedy, the drama, and those stunning landscapes of Tuscany—it’s basically Eat Pray Love vibes.
👍 👍

Why on earth wasn't I born there?

Look, just don't go mixing things up with animals.

Nah...

But honestly? Sounds like something straight out of my private collection back in the day.

The Cut in Movies ·
Exactly!
Those scenes featuring exposed anatomy are just so out of place for Hollywood!! And definitely not what you'd expect from conservative America!

It honestly feels like the director spent too much time in France.
😁

And frankly, seeing Meg show some skin was a surprise,
but since she's established now, it didn't feel like she was just doing it for attention... it felt different than if she'd done it at the start of her career.
😳

The movie itself is a bit of a slog, though it's watchable enough,

kind of a weird blend of a thriller and raw passion mixed with those gritty Swedish action flicks and heavy dramas.

Honestly, what a snooze fest.
It’s way too hyped up for how little it actually brings to the table.

some people just call it flirting.

The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was all that unnecessary, cheap vulgarity. Other than that, their coverage of the movies was actually solid.

Because of the constant cycle of violence?

Dante said:If you set aside Hollywood—which is easy enough to do—that was the only American film magazine I actually bothered buying. And why did it fold? Because sales were pathetic (barely 2,500 copies), so even distributors wouldn't touch advertising. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that in this country, you can't find more than 2,500 people willing to drop $8.25 on a movie mag. That's the price of a single movie ticket. It doesn't even matter what the content is; it's about movies. The problem is any magazine would have failed under those numbers. Unless, of course, you slash every single cost and try to look like a big studio production. For me, it was my go-to for seeing what was hitting theaters or video stores, and they had some director profiles here and there. Sure, it was a bit shallow and thin at times, but I bought it religiously. It was the best we had.
What a fucking backwater! You can't even maintain a basic film magazine.

Yeah, it's a bad sign for the state of the country overall.

And just when film school finally starts picking up...

Thank God for this forum, or I wouldn't even know...
I've been checking the local newsstand for days and all they have is the April issue. If this keeps up, the clerk is going to think I'm stalking her.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 in Movies ·
Mark Nelson17 said:I just read two reviews of the new Tarantino movie and both agree it’s an exceptional, brilliant masterpiece. On top of that, they cram in a superlative every other sentence—about the acting, the direction, the uncompromising vision, etcetera, etcetera... Zero negative comments about the film itself.

Look, I wouldn't hype the film that much.

It’s fun, but that’s about it. That great music? It’s pulled straight from Bruce Lee movies, isn't it? Sounds familiar from back in the day.
😳

Anyway,
to me, Tarantino has always been a spoiled brat who stumbled into filmmaking and now he's just trying to heal his own complexes or cater to the crowd by cranking out violent action flicks.
🙂

With Kill Bill—specifically Kill Bill 2—he definitely went overboard.

Hellblazer said:No movie can touch a Spielbergian shark flick, let alone that boring slog. The Blair Witch Project is way more interesting than this trash. I wasted my $8.25 on such a stupid movie.👎

😲
but the Blair Witch Project is a complete fabrication.

the events in this film actually happened.

and I think it serves as a good warning... it probably saved many lives—and it’ll save plenty more in the future

Jose Chase2 said:No way. He killed her and now he's just playing house with his mistress.😁

Look, basically,
the tourism industry tried to spin this whole thing as some tragic accident—like he killed her and then himself...
claiming they might even still be alive and just trying to skip town to start over with new identities..

The media and the courts were actually peddling this garbage as truth. Honestly, they're even more delusional than those people back home.

Nah...
From everything I've read about them,
they don't actually like human flesh. It doesn't sit right with them,
and they only tear into it if they're wasted or genuinely starving.
