stormyviper11 said:I’m gonna have to disagree there. Look, I get it—the vocal tone is huge, obviously. It shapes the whole vibe of the track. But the actual lyrics? They aren't everything. Sure, if the words are totally nonsensical, it might bug me a little, but it won't ruin the song for me. Don't get me wrong, I'll always appreciate a deep, poetic lyricist more, but strictly speaking, they're secondary to the music itself.

See, that’s where you lose me. I mean, what’s even the point of trying to convey a specific theme or tell a story if the words don't actually matter? That's a massive chunk of what makes a song a "song"—it's a choice the artist makes. If the lyrics are truly just some after-thought, then why bother singing about anything at all? Why risk cluttering up a great melody with something useless? You look at some classic Jazz standards, right? Sometimes there's just one line that loops with different variations, or sometimes—and I mean sometimes—there isn't even "text" at all, just scatting, like "doo-wop" or "la-la-la" or whatever. Usually, it's because the musicians didn't want to mess up a beautiful melody with some half-baked poetry that didn't fit. To me, I don't see the logic in sitting down to write a song if you already know you've got nothing meaningful to say and you're just going to settle for something shallow or just plain dumb.
Look, if there’s actual singing involved in a track, then those lyrics aren't just some extra layer—they’re a fundamental part of the song, just like the melody or the drum beat. I really think we shouldn't just gloss over this or skip the debate about whether the words need to be as strong as the music itself. Sure, you can definitely lean more heavily on one than the other depending on the vibe, but both sides have to hit certain benchmarks; otherwise, the whole thing just falls flat and loses its edge. Personally? I don't even need to pay attention to the lyrics to get lost in a song—I can just vibe to the sound—but looking at it objectively, the writing is just as vital as anything else that makes a vocal track feel complete, especially when you're talking about mainstream pop or rock. It's all part of the same package.

I mean, isn't it kind of obvious I was just messing around? 🙄
Look, everyone here is totally obsessed with Metallica—even the people who claim they can't stand them.
Sexiest video spot ever ??!!?? in Music ·
Man, whenever I think back to those girls in that ITZ GETIN Hat in HIIR !!! video... god, they were absolutely stunning. I'm pretty sure it was from that one track by that guy Nelly (or whatever his name is anyway)!!!! And honestly, that SAMR ĐEEM video is killer too—even if the song itself isn't half bad.
What does music mean to you? in Music ·
Look, anyone can talk their own game about what music means to them, but let’s be real—the whole reason music exists carries this massive weight for humanity. Honestly, I don't think many people out there could actually survive without it—if you forced someone to live a life totally stripped of sound, they'd just be... incomplete. Like, a part of them would always be missing. For me personally, music is this ultimate sense of freedom, though I don't really look at it as some flashy spectacle or just background noise for a party. In my world, the stuff I listen to is basically the meaning of life, just translated into sound waves.
The Grudge (2004) in Movies ·
I know the Japanese version used to play on TV all the time, but I honestly can't say I’ve actually sat through it—it just always looked way too cheesy for my taste. As for the American remake? Man, that was easily one of the worst movies I've ever laid eyes on. Just straight-up awful.
Generally speaking, though, those J-horror flicks and everything in that vein—you know, stuff like circle or The Grudge - Curse—just don't do it for me at all. Not the plot, not the directing, not even that creepy atmosphere they try to build... the whole execution is just completely and utterly terrible. A total disaster.

Look, I’m not really going to dwell too much on what Austin Roberts8 is saying—honestly, he’s so completely repulsed by this movie that if you just listened to him, you'd think it was the biggest pile of trash ever put to film. It’s almost overkill, you know? My advice? Don't go in expecting anything life-changing, but hey, if you're curious, just give it a watch. At the end of the day, you can't exactly call it total garbage.
The Virgin Suicides in Movies ·
People can be so incredibly hypocritical when it comes to what they actually like.
Especially those types who will swear up and down that some movie is a total masterpiece—not because they actually enjoyed it, mind you, but just so they don't look uncultured in front of a crowd of other people who are also faking it. It’s this weird social performance where everyone pretends to love something just because it's been labeled "intellectual" or "high art," which, in their heads, automatically makes it better.
Dead or Alive (2006) in Movies ·
I mean, what else is there to say besides—it’s just pure American excellence!
The Virgin Suicides in Movies ·
The movie was actually sitting on the shelves at the local Blockbuster, bundled under some totally different title for $9.75.
Saw III in Movies ·
The worst part about this whole thing is how those mindless sequels—which are basically just cash grabs, though even that's debatable!—slowly kill off a franchise's reputation. Like, take the original The Matrix, which was an absolute masterpiece, versus something like Rocky, which is genuinely a great film until you hit Rocky IV, which is probably the biggest pile of garbage ever put on screen (at least if you ask me). I thought the original SAW was incredible and a total blast, but with this one, I already know what’s coming—just more of the same recycled crap. And honestly? The mere thought of seeing Trešnjić or that total airhead Alibaba Alba show up in a fourth installment... UGH, absolutely nightmare fuel.
Eragon in Movies ·
Man, even just looking at the names... you've got Aragorn, then there's Aragon, then Eragon, Eragorn, Grogrrngragrrrr... it's a total mess.🙂

wiredmaker18 said:I’ve got a few thoughts on this—not bad at all, really. When you look at the actual playing and the technical side of things, they’re damn good. Kerry King is an incredibly skilled and fast player, and the band sounds tight as hell together. As for the songs themselves, well, that's where you can start a debate, but basically, it’s a super catchy power metal sound that leans heavily into those eighties vibes and stays stuck in your head. It’s obvious the guys aimed to mash up high-octane musicianship with catchy lyrics and melodies just to grab some quick popularity. Maybe they aren't exactly "masterpieces"—aside from the insane technique and speed—but man, they're fun. They're okay with me, even if I’d never compare their songwriting quality to legends like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Joe Satriani, or Yngwie Malmsteen.

Yeah, I gave it a listen and I’m on board. But honestly, what’s the point of world-class shredding if you can't write an above-average song? Some of those melodies feel a bit too sugary for my taste—almost like they belong in a dance track. To be real, that kind of upbeat power metal reminds me more of those cheesy 90s techno-dance hits than anything else. 🙂

bluebison8 said:You clearly haven't sat through many actual trash movies—you know, those wannabe trash flicks.
Personally, I think the first Dungeons & Dragons is even worse.

Oh, way worse! I'm totally with you there. That first one is just a complete joke. Man, I was literally sitting there waiting for that guy from the dark movie to start rapping or something. It felt more like some typical American teen trash-core nonsense shoved into a fantasy setting. Just awful.

Thomas Martinez52 said:I just wanted to weigh in on this movie—and honestly, the book I picked up recently too. It’s basically like taking Star Wars, transplanting it into a fantasy setting, swapping out a few names, throwing everything in a blender, and... boom, Eragon was born. You’ve got the evil king who wiped out all the "dragon riders" who used to be the peacekeepers of the old kingdom; then in the second book, there's this old elf the kid is hunting for, living deep in some distant forest... sound familiar? There's a ton more stuff like that, but I can't be bothered to list it all.
And if you want objective proof for what Samuel Ortiz3 was saying about how bad the movie actually is, just look at the fact that they completely gave up on making a sequel.....

Objective proof... hmm... interesting take. Anyway, I highly doubt they won't make a sequel (sooner or later). I mean, studios have made sequels for truly massive (unthinkable) pieces of crap movies. For instance—you might not even know this, but I think it happened pretty recently—there was a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons showing up in video rental stores. No big marketing blitz, nothing (at least as far as I could tell). It looked like one of those TV productions, but it was actually decent enough (compared to the first one).
Female Directors in Movies ·
Zubatović-Prodanović, née Zulufepuštapašić—now there’s a name that could have belonged to a director making absolute masterpieces, but unfortunately, she doesn't exist, and honestly, I don't think she ever did.
And don't even get me started on that hack Sofia Coppola. As for Kathryn Bigelow, "A Strange Day" is just exhausting, tedious garbage to me. I much prefer that one, More Death (or whatever they decided to call it in the US), starring Sean Penn and Liz Hurla. If we're talking about mainstream female directors, Penny Marshall is way ahead of the pack. All things considered, I feel like women excel in so many other parts of film production, just maybe not behind the director's chair—no offense intended to any ladies out there, this is just my two cents 🙂 ).

People's Party, hell yeah! 🙂

He definitely had a blast while he was writing the book—and honestly, I actually had a decent time watching the movie—but man, I really wish they’d picked something else (something better, higher quality, and more original) to turn into a film.

Man, I can't even deal! I remember being just a little kid, tagging along with my old man to the local AMC, all hyped up to see SUPER NINJA, only to find out the actual title was NINJA VS. NINJA! Seriously, what a letdown. I was absolutely crushed when I realized they'd lied to me!
