The music on a vinyl record or a CD "doesn't exist" either by that logic. If you can hear it, it exists, regardless of what format it’s stored in. As for music turning into some commercialized pile of garbage churned out on mass-produced tapes, that's an old story we've been dealing with forever.

The whole point of that camera work is to give you this gritty, documentary feel—like there's an actual sense of reality bleeding through. It feels like someone is just standing on the sidewalk filming the chaos with a handheld camcorder or a phone. That’s how it would actually look in real life. Honestly, the movie is several notches higher because of the cinematography alone. I’m actually thinking about giving it another watch. Those days of Old Hollywood, where they’d just park a camera on a tripod and have actors walk in front of it, are long gone.
After meeting John Woo, who completely flipped the script on action movies by injecting them with actual artistry, now we've got Steven Spielberg pushing things in a totally different direction... toward realism. That car chase scene? Absolutely insane.
I highly doubt those "old Hollywood days where they just put a camera on a tripod" ever really ended, because for a lot of us, watching a movie like this is exhausting, stupid, and irritating—it gives people headaches and makes them want to puke. The film is shot without any sense of restraint. Even when I watch actual documentaries, they don't shake like this. Even if you have a camera on your shoulder, the faces shouldn't be wobbling around like they're on some damn boat. You spend the whole movie praying to God that they'll just hold the damn camera still for a second so you can catch your breath—but NO CHANCE! If this "realistic portrayal" goes overboard, it's pure shit to me, and that's why this movie is pure shit; I couldn't even finish it in the theater because I felt like throwing up. The excessive camera shaking is idiotic, unrealistic, pathetic, and honestly, it makes me sick of directors like this.
I’m sitting there in the theater, somewhere in the fourth or fifth row from the screen, and the damn thing is massive—practically the size of a football field. Then the camera starts this constant, nauseating shaking, just swinging wildly through the room or following some hand passing a flashlight to someone else. Everything is blurry, then suddenly snaps into focus, then loses it again, and you can barely tell what’s actually happening on screen because the camera won't stop jittering. After about twenty minutes of this, I honestly felt like I was going to throw up, so I just grabbed my stuff, walked out, and went home... they seriously have no idea what they're doing!
I’ve always found that a healthy dose of Gregory House-style sarcasm works wonders for me 😁 When it comes to actual physical pain, though, I tend to swear like a sailor.

Not someday, not maybe one day, but right now... Today. Before noon. Just listen to Smiths-How soon is now... And honestly, it isn't happening today, tomorrow, or even next month...
And you think I don't feel the same way? You think I haven't been stuck in this same miserable loop of being lovesick at 26? Get a grip, man. Figure out what actually matters in life and start respecting yourself enough to stop begging the universe to hand you something when the timing is clearly all wrong.

I haven't dealt with things quite as heavy as yours, but I was bullied back in middle school. I wasn't even short or weak, they just targeted me because they knew I wouldn't fight back...
By freshman year of high school, things got so dark that I almost dropped out. I fell into a deep clinical depression and even attempted suicide. Ironically, just when the bullying finally stopped, I hit rock bottom...
Now I’m a college freshman. I managed to pull myself out of that hole, met some people, and started getting my life together, but I still deal with so many issues I can't seem to fix...
Throughout high school, I spent all my time watching everyone else hooking up and being affectionate. It felt like being thirsty in a desert while someone else pours water out right in front of you... I've realized that saying "love will come" is pretty hollow. I'm 19 now, and it feels like love only finds the people who are already well-connected or just incredibly lucky...
You have a boyfriend, which is great, but for me, I feel like I'll never find a girlfriend. Honestly, I feel like I might end it all sooner or later... it's hard to live knowing that...
I just keep thinking everything would've been different if that bullying hadn't happened...
God, William Scott18, just give it a rest already. Anyone who was ever soft, lacked confidence, or was introverted has dealt with some version of school bullying. Honestly, you don't want to know what I went through in high school; you wouldn't believe me. I practically lost all faith in humanity, and that is one thing you absolutely cannot let happen to you. What's worse is that damn it, YOU allowed those bullies to win! This constant whining and lamenting is the direct result of their actions. Why are you giving them the satisfaction? Did they actually win? Damn the girl who's supposed to be your partner if you've already buried yourself alive. You're building these complexes by staring at other people with girls, thinking it's some big deal? Watching two teenagers flaunt a relationship that won't last longer than a carton of milk? Get a grip! Do you think those bullies won? Do you think I don't deal with consequences? Do you think I haven't spent years paying the price for the mental trauma I endured because I was surrounded by animals? Pull yourself together, man; there is a whole new life waiting for you out there, new people to meet. Trust me, by the time you're 25, you'll be a completely different person—I promise you that. Start making friends at college, both guys and girls, go grab coffee, relax. Don't just stop being negative—stop thinking altogether for a while and just let life carry you. You are the one sentencing yourself, not them, and no matter what anyone on this forum says, you're just stubbornly repeating the same loop so we have no choice but to tell you to "just kill yourself" when you annoy everyone. You aren't listening to me or anyone else; you only want to hear yourself. Fix yourself, because I know you can. I know you are capable of better than this, and if I know it, there's no reason for you to think otherwise. I can see that you are your own worst enemy. Defeat this version of yourself, and you'll have the world at your fingertips.
quietranger14, I haven't had the chance to dive deep into this entire thread yet, but I think the most important thing for you right now—especially after what you went through—is not losing faith in people, particularly men. Are you seeing anyone? How much do you still trust people? Usually, when someone goes through something this horrific, they don't just lose their self-confidence; they start looking for ways to take it out on others. They start thinking everyone is trash or that all men are complete jerks, and so on and so forth. I really hope that isn't the case with you. Because honestly, the three worst things that can happen are losing faith in yourself, losing faith that good people actually exist, and losing faith in love. The idea that you are worth any less, or feeling some kind of way about your value, is total nonsense, and you need to realize that first and foremost. Once you find that one person who truly loves you for who you are, gives you their full attention, opens up their heart, and shows you just how unique you really are, all those complexes and frustrations stemming from what happened will finally fade away.
slywolf45 said:Look, some people are genuinely trying to explain things to those who think being gay means someone is a monster or some kind of predator lurking in the shadows to target children—it simply isn't like that. I respect that effort, even if I'm not the type to march in a Pride parade; I understand why people feel that need. Because once the physical and verbal attacks against gay people stop, the necessity of shouting your rights from the rooftops at parades and such will eventually fade away. And I'm sorry... but if you can't wrap your head around the fact that human sexuality might differ from your own... then you're just being primitive.
Of course it isn't the only thing. Some people are perfectly fine with being gay, while others struggle with it. For those who struggle, it unfortunately ends up becoming a massive part of their identity because when society slaps a label on you, everything tends to get reduced to that single point. You can't truly discuss it or grasp the weight of it unless you've actually lived through it.
neonhound10 said:Honestly, you're talking nonsense; even in the Bible, there are mentions of people being born that way, and nobody is out there judging anyone else, so maybe don't present your own perception as if it's some universal truth, but rather just state that it's your personal view...
live long and prosper
The Church used to burn homosexuals at the stake... I really have to wonder who here is pretending they can't see the reality of it. Compared to what the Church actually did, Hitler was practically a pacifist.
My old lady is the same way... honestly, probably some kind of disorder. She’s one of those people who can't actually enjoy life because everything is constantly "filthy" or there's always something that "needs fixing." I don't get it myself, so I can't offer any profound wisdom here, other than maybe saying you should keep her in your prayers 😁
I think human stupidity shows its true face when people try to force wrong conclusions about why someone has certain sexual preferences. I remember back in puberty, I was attracted to women, and I know for a fact I didn't choose that. It’s the same for people attracted to men—they didn't pick it either. People try to pin external, degenerate influences on gay people just so they can feel better about themselves, which is funny because even gay people often portray themselves as more degenerate than they are. There wasn't some broken family dynamic in my life that turned me this way. I know who I’m attracted to, but why it's women instead of trees, animals, or my own gender is something I honestly have no clue about. People who can only view the world through their own lens—trying to understand only what represents them while bashing or trying to destroy anything else—are mentally immature individuals trapped by twisted ideologies and pure ego. We know right from wrong, but you only realize that once you actually grow up. To me, there is far more evil in the hatred directed at gay people and the violent rhetoric about how they need to be "cured," or in extreme cases, tortured and killed, than there is in seeing two men walking down the street holding hands. But look at today's hypocritical society, built on even more hypocritical ideologies. You have a massive criminal like Hitler who condemned and murdered gay people, yet on the other side, an institution that is supposed to be the embodiment of goodness and tolerance, like the Church and the Pope, also judges them and calls them sinners. It makes you wonder: who is the real victim here, and how much competence does this hatred actually have when both Hitler and the Church (two absolute extremes) view gay people in the exact same way? Heterosexuals are trying to turn gay people into martyrs, and wasn't Jesus Christ the one who said, "the last shall be first," implying that those who suffer will be closest to Him? Not exactly those words, but you get the point. It makes me wonder how much authority a church actually has today to spread hate toward gay people, especially when they are already hated by a public with questionable morals—a public where statements like "kill them all" get applause, while calls for tolerance are treated like something foreign or wrong. Who gives any of us the right to interfere in the life of someone who isn't hurting anyone, let alone judging and trying to destroy them just for being something they couldn't choose to be? Since when did the word "hate" become a valid term whenever we target someone we personally dislike for subjective reasons? If we want to be fair, we could compare them to rapists, pedophiles, or murderers, or claim they are more promiscuous than heterosexuals, but deep down, we all know that's complete bullshit. Are we going to pretend to be great moralists and claim we care about our children's future by trying to destroy a specific group of people? Are we trying to build a "pure society" like the one Hitler wanted? Real beauty lies in diversity, not in forced uniformity and mental clones.
It’s always the same thing in these movies. Some fragile girl or some idiot guy realizes a mafia hit squad is after them, so they flee to some cabin deep in the middle of nowhere—where the nearest living soul is probably 186 miles miles away at a Sunoco station grabbing a sandwich. Then, suddenly, there’s this rustling sound right outside the door. And what does the moron in the cabin do? They walk right out to check it out... FOR GOD'S SAKE, YOU IDIOT! Just buy a better lock, reinforce the doors, install steel shutters, and barricade yourself inside... WHO CARES WHAT'S MAKING NOISE OUTSIDE?! But no... they have to wander out into the dark just to get slaughtered. Or how about when characters step out of their apartment into a dimly lit hallway... seriously... Or when people just stroll into someone's house whenever they feel like screwing them over... I mean, really... if anyone ever tried that with me...
One thing that absolutely drives me up the wall in movies is when characters are having phone conversations without any actual pauses. They just talk continuously like they’re reciting lines to their own damn brains instead of interacting with a person on the other end. It’s infuriating... seriously, just build in some silence. Give us at least a five-second gap so it actually feels like there's a real human being on the line...
Or how about those tropes where the hero and the villain decide to settle things in some obviously abandoned warehouse where hiding is basically impossible? You already know the camera operator is going to get screwed over because the guy wandering around looking confused is clearly walking straight into a trap. He’s hiding behind some crates, totally oblivious—and we, the poor audience, are stuck waiting for the inevitable moment his head gets smashed in... what a joke. I honestly wonder if there's still a death penalty for directors in some parts of the world.
Here’s another one: Michael Douglas plays this traveling salesman who meets a femme fatale on a train. They spend a wild, primal night together—the kind of intense, animalistic sex they seem to love in these movies. Unfortunately, he has no clue she’s actually a deranged serial killer hunting men. She sleeps with them and then kills them because of some childhood trauma where her uncle forced her to bake endless batches of homemade pastries. After she murders half the passengers and he ends up in a massive brawl with her throughout the train cars, she finally ends up crushed under the wheels, and he makes it out alive.
How about this scenario: Michael Douglas plays a psychiatrist who starts a torrid affair with one of his patients. I don't need to tell you there's a ton of heavy, violent, primal sex involved. But when he finally breaks the news that he's actually married, she loses it. Since she's clearly unstable, she can't handle the rejection and tries to kill him. To cut a long story short, after all the fighting and the sex, she ends up dead under a tractor from a small town in rural Ohio.
And another: Michael Douglas plays a cop who is unfortunately obsessed with one thing... and I think you can guess what it is: sex. He spends his nights hitting up strip clubs and sleeping with every girl in sight. Long story short, he pushes all these women too far and they try to blackmail him. He manages to fight them off, but they all end up meeting their end under the tires of a massive semi-truck, while Michael Douglas walks away unscathed.
It’s honestly incredible how many different ways you can spin a movie starring Michael Douglas.
Here’s the breakdown: In this movie, Michael Douglas plays a priest dealing with some kind of pituitary gland issue—or whatever the hell they call it—that causes these uncontrollable hormonal urges. He ends up sleeping with a reporter who visits the church, but he's totally over her after he's already been caught up in these scenes where he's hooking up with other nuns. Then, a nun gets murdered right there in the church, and all eyes turn toward Douglas. This obsessive reporter tries to frame him for the crime, doing everything she can to ruin his life and prove they had an affair. But when it turns out he's innocent and she was actually the killer, she vanishes. Unfortunately, Douglas has no clue she's actually hiding under his bed in the rectory. She waits until nightfall to try and castrate him, but he catches her just in time. They end up wrestling all over the bed, and honestly, she absolutely wrecks him like a total coward. A massive brawl breaks out through the entire church, eventually leading them both up to the bell tower for the final showdown. He manages to toss her off the tower, and she falls down and lands on... well, something sharp, I guess, but who cares. The camera pans up to show his terrified, twisted face looking down at her, the music swells, and that’s the end of that nonsense.
Posted by: David Lynch Cast: Woody Allen, Rowan Atkinson, Jason Alexander Cast: Whoopi Goldberg (honestly, one woman is plenty given this is supposed to be a war movie) Plot: Whoopi leads an army through the Congo, while the other three guys launch an assault on her stronghold. But then, right when things hit a breaking point, Woody Allen falls for her, and suddenly the whole war plot just dissolves into some weird romantic drama. UNBELIEVABLE!
ruggedjackal46 said:Old guys and young, attractive women. It’s certainly a weird vibe for an "8 friends heading into the woods" setup. 😁
Look, I get it... You’ve got these four impotent old guys trying everything from Viagra to literal electricity just to get it up enough to take on four young, gorgeous women. But then the girls realize they can't handle it, so they call in some supernatural fog to wipe out those four lecherous old bastards. Their plan? Once the monsters finish off the old men, the girls can finally hook up with the creatures. But here's the kicker: those four washed-up old geezers actually turn out to be way better at warfare than they ever were in the bedroom. They end up screwing over those four girls, and things don't go exactly according to their little plan. Honestly, seeing that horror unfold would be something else. 🤣
I can't even remember if I actually sat through the game... maybe I did, but I'll agree on one thing—Greed is good... what a total disaster of a movie. That crazy look he gives with his hair all spiked up? Pure gold. Honestly, whenever there isn't a woman by his side in any of his films, there's significantly less drama unfolding. 😁
I’ve gotta say something here! Has anyone else noticed how every single one of his movies follows the exact same pattern? It’s always the same deal: he has some primal, animalistic hookup with a woman, which kicks off this massive conflict that lasts the whole movie, and then either she kills him or he ends up killing her. Honestly, the second I see his face on screen looking all lustful and twisted, I can't help but crack up. 🤣
Just yesterday, I watched that one where he hooks up with a woman who eventually tries to kill both him and his wife because he wasn't interested in her anymore—so his wife ends up taking her out instead. Then there’s the raw passion scenes where he's sleeping with that policewoman he eventually shoots, and then there's the one where Sharon Stone is the one being accused. Or that movie where he marries a woman and they basically turn their house into a war zone, building barricades everywhere until they both end up falling from a chandelier that crashes down on them. And don't get me started on when he actually orders the hit on Gwyneth Paltrow—his own wife. Or that one where his boss turns into Demi Moore, tries to force herself on him, and he ends up going to war with her.
I truly feel for him, but once I see him on screen, I just can't take him seriously as a person anymore. 😁 Look, credit where credit is due, he’s a fantastic actor, but the roles he's built his entire reputation on have become straight-up ridiculous.
