So, how do you typically handle your sense of timing?
I suspect there might be some connection to whether someone is more of a visual or verbal learner. When you're trying to pick up something new, what's your preferred way to absorb the information?
Oh, absolutely. You’d make a truly phenomenal moderator, especially after how spectacularly you managed to derail Sarah's thread. You certainly have my vote...

You can't even begin to compare my house cat—who spends its entire existence eating, sleeping, and shedding—to a four-year-old kid who called me yesterday and spoke to me like he was some tiny, serious little adult.
I suppose that might be an issue with how you're perceiving things rather than how we are expressing ourselves. 🤷
Chris Watson3 said:Honestly, I’d start getting seriously concerned about my own mental state if I were thinking this way. Look, if you don't want kids, fine—that’s your business. But comparing children to animals? That is absolutely revolting. Besides, people with this kind of mindset should probably be legally barred from having children anyway, because it’s exactly because of people like you that our foster care system is overflowing with abandoned kids.
If you happen to have an aversion to animals, I suppose that might feel unpleasant to you. Personally, though, I don't see anything particularly repulsive about a neighbor's cat. By that same logic, I don't see anything offensive about a friend's son. They are both living beings that someone cares for—and both are capable of feeling affection, each in their own way, I guess.🤷
So, I was wondering, does it actually get under your skin when people start asking when you're finally going to get rid of them? I suppose most people find that kind of questioning a bit grating, and let's be honest, not everyone possesses the level of Zen-like patience required to remain completely unfazed by it.

Perhaps this could serve as a gentle nudge to finally quit smoking? 😬
Well, I suppose there’s some relevance to that. It would be quite much like me bothering you every five minutes just to ask if you've decided on getting a cat yet, I guess.
It’s not quite that, though; you really shouldn't compare a child with a cat in this context. It’s just that some people seem unable to grasp that it's all a matter of perspective. Perhaps it isn't that we harbor any particular resentment toward children, but rather that they simply have no appreciation for cats.
It’s funny when people on here spend all their energy obsessing over hairstyles and other such trivialities...
Actually, you might find some value in reading *Toxic Parents*; it doesn't exactly strike me that you had the most idyllic upbringing. You can certainly try to nudge that man toward therapy or whatever else, but perhaps you owe it to yourself to live a somewhat normal life first. I mean, is your primary career objective really to act as a surrogate parent for a foolish old man?

It feels like she’s terrified that once her looks fade in a decade or so, she won't be considered "worthy" of love anymore. Of course, that's just my take. It’s nearly impossible to truly judge someone based on just a few sentences. 🙂
Well, I have to agree. I don't think I would ever characterize a narcissist as someone who actually calls themselves ugly or admits to being afraid, at least not right off the bat.
