I’m officially putting my name in the ring for moderator on this PDF.

Since at least 50% of you people here can't stand me, I'd say that's a pretty solid indicator that I have exactly what it takes to be an enforcer.

I’ll be a heavy-handed moderator; under my watch, warnings and bans will be handed out like candy in the NFL. We're talking instant 100, 200, 500, or 1000-day penalties. No playing nice.

Respectfully,

On the flip side, you have six moderators for Sports, and what do we get? Two show up just to say they have no idea what's going on, and one tells us the complaint should have been filed through the official grievance channel instead of here. Honestly, Nice did a fine job.

Give me a break. Seriously, at least another 500 people should have been banned by now given how much crap gets posted here.

Then, when someone actually earns a ban because they say things you wouldn't even say to an animal, let alone a person, everyone acts shocked. "Oh, why was he banned? He's such a model forum member," blah blah blah.

If this were a normal US forum, bans would be handed out like candy.☕

Adam Doyle63 said:I was just putting together some stuff for a buddy's website regarding the championship, so I've got plenty of material on hand; if there's an active group left, just drop the link and I'll have everything ready by tomorrow, God willing.

You can take Group D. I said I wanted in, but honestly, I just haven't had the energy lately.🤣
Anthony Jackson2 said:I'll take C—that leaves D, E, F, and G on the table.

Since the folks above mentioned they're handling two, we've still got three open slots left.

The championship is right around the corner—better to get this sorted and finished sooner rather than later.

I thought there would be a rush on this, so I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.😁

Alright, I'll grab Group D. I'll have my draft ready in about 3 or 4 days.
Anthony Jackson2 said:Alright folks, I’m going to need that PDF from you again. With the World Cup in Qatar kicking off soon—as usual—we need volunteers to step up, contribute their part to the upcoming PPDF, and get these group threads started.

neonorca38 has already claimed the thread for Group B, so everything else is wide open. The deadline is just a couple of days before the tournament begins.

It’s first come, first served.

I don't really follow much besides the Premier League, but if you guys happen to be short on volunteers, I'm happy to jump in and lead a group if needed.☕
Sam Diaz2 said:We really ought to start a dedicated thread just for officiating. Honestly, we've already hit our quota for referee analysis this season between the games involving the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. It would make way more sense if people used that specific thread to talk about player movements, big plays, scoring chances, the atmosphere, or the clubs themselves. Right now, this place is just turning into a weekly loop of "was that a foul?" or "yellow card," "red card," "penalty." If you're actually looking to debate the refs, go find the other thread.

The thread already exists; you clearly haven't been paying attention. Everything regarding Batcave is right there.☕
Megan Thomas5 said:Three games in one day was the sweet spot; four was just overkill. I mean, who actually wants to be watching Costa Rica vs. Japan at 11 PM? Plus, you can't compare Winter to Summer—you're wiped out much earlier in the Winter when it's dark basically all day.

I work way less during the Winter, so I'm not nearly as exhausted.☕

I think you guys are just stuck in your ways.

Once they expand the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ™ format, there'll be even more games per day anyway.
Robert Palmer said:Scheduling matches at 11, 2, 5, or 8 during the Winter is a recipe for disaster if you actually care about viewership.
Unless, of course, the audience consists entirely of seasonal workers in the summer tourism industry. In any realistic scenario, nobody is going to tune in for those first two slots. Even in major metropolitan hubs across Europe, you’d struggle to pull half the crowd for that third match. You might have noticed that Champions League fixtures rarely land on a Tuesday or Wednesday at 4 or 6 in the afternoon; it’s because even the biggest clubs wouldn't bother playing at those times during the weekend.
It doesn't help that there is something much more visceral about watching a game outdoors, whether you're sitting on a patio at a local pub or gathering in a public square.

Look, for us folks down South, if we're working in the Winter, we're usually done by 2 PM at the latest. In the Summer, I don't give a damn if games are at 9 PM; I get home exhausted at 7 PM and pass out halfway through.

For the guys who spend all day hanging out at the bar, this schedule is perfect—they head out after lunch and they'll be hammered by 10 PM.☕

Man, remember when we had the SP in Japan? Those games were only in the morning and we didn't even have our best squad, yet everyone watched. This is afternoon and evening coverage; it's going to be absolute madness.☕

Realistically, it gets dark by 5 PM anyway. What else are you going to do besides watch the SP?
Robert Palmer said:Please provide some actual logic to support such nonsense.

Man, you’re acting like you're some kind of Tim Duncan.☕

Players get their rhythm halfway through the season. It's actually ideal because they can find their form without being burnt out like they usually are during the summer.

For us regular folks, it's great because we actually have something to watch. In the summer, we're all working ourselves to death for our bosses, but during the Winter, we finally have some breathing room.☕
This winter schedule is a total win, both for the players and the fans.

I’m expecting much higher quality football at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ™ because the players will be way more rested than they usually are during a mid-summer tournament.

Because of that, I think this World Cup is going to be one for the history books.
Europe will take its toll, so I'm not expecting any world-class football.
Kyle Campbell4 said:It is fundamentally unjust to issue permanent bans to our longtime forum members, regardless of which faction they represent. We have seen an influx of these newcomers who possess neither wit nor actual substance, spending their time making childish jabs at various clubs like middle schoolers on a playground. We need more genuine levity and spirited, good-natured ribbing among ourselves.

Look, I won't get into what specifically warrants a ban or a suspension, but being an OG on this forum shouldn't mean you get a free pass to say whatever you want without consequences.

This isn't Congress; we aren't handing out legislative immunity here.😁

Gerald Carter53 said:I've been on this forum long enough to notice you've announced your retirement more times than you've actually hit a winning slip at the betting shop.

Look, I give up on life about 100 times a day—that's just how I'm built.😁

As far as betting goes, I've been retired for two years now; I might throw down a few bucks here and there, but that's it.

But now, the retirement is coming from the tournament organization side too.☕

I already told you everything in our DMs. It’s simple: people are just chasing profit. You’ve got the pros doing it professionally, while amateurs like me just hunt for bonuses and long shots before we all get wiped out.

A competition that doesn't deliver at least ten solid analyses a month is pointless. It just lacks the passion it used to have. I guess I’m getting old—I sound like one of those retirees constantly rambling about the "good old days." It might be time to hang it up and retire.☕

It’s all just numbers on a screen at this point.☕

Just like sports betting, this has turned into a cold, hard business. The raw emotion and the days of just sharing picks are long gone.

Because of that, this whole competition feels pretty pointless, but whatever—we'll grind through the rest of the month.☕

They aren't actually out; they're just questionable for tonight, and honestly, they could easily suit up. The bet is still on the table, but if you're going to throw out stats, at least make sure they're accurate.👍
