Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Look, even if SSI existed, I doubt people would actually show up for a few reasons... mainly the cops. Since possessing any amount of drugs is a criminal offense here in the States, it’s not exactly a great idea to go get searched in a public spot where the police are already looking. I honestly don't see how that would even work.

The second thing we need to fix is ensuring everyone has constant access to clean insulin supplies. We can't have people reusing gear like it's nothing. If I could show you the mental images I have from stuff I've personally witnessed regarding insulin supplies, most of you would probably lose your lunch.

Thirdly, there really needs to be some kind of small sharps containers or something the size of a trash bin specifically for disposing of used insulin supplies, instead of them ending up in manholes and drains most of the time.

And this whole habit of treating addicts like they're some kind of evil villains? It's incredibly shallow. Usually, the loudest voices saying that are the ones who know the least about addiction. I personally know about 40 long-term heroin users, and they aren't any different from anyone else in society. Yeah, you'll find some bums, liars, petty thieves, and jerks, but you also find genuinely good people—people who work and aren't hurting anyone just because they use.

And don't come at me with that "be tolerant of everyone" nonsense; I'm talking strictly about ADDICTS!

Me? I've got zero tolerance for idiots.

Anthony Miller13 said:The whole point of busting users is just to harass them to get intel on the big players. Besides, even using the stuff is illegal anyway.
If a user like the one I’m picturing doesn't exist, then you're obviously implying there are wealthy users out there—because at the end of the day, you either have to be loaded or become a "criminal" just to score. And if I'm loaded, why would I need a dealer? I could just buy my own gear and keep a stash at home.
I still don't think those spots would see much action... especially once the cops start patrolling the area.

Man, some people are just so shallow.🤣

brisknomad6 said:- Are you seriously telling me that I, someone who works, makes a decent living, and pays my fair share of taxes and social security, should have to worry about whether some addict has a clean needle for tomorrow? Does he have any obligation to ensure I always have access to Voltaren? Or does he just not give a damn about anything else once he's high?

Also, will that addict suffer if I catch HIV because I didn't bother using a condom because I just wasn't feeling it?

Thirdly—tell me, because (I admit) I don't know—how aware is an addict after they shoot up? Are they more conscious when they're high? If so, why the hell wouldn't they just toss the syringe in a trash can instead of leaving it in the park?

And finally, drug addiction isn't something people are born with. Every addict (barring kidnapping or other extreme cases) becomes one through their own choices—ignorance, stupidity, whatever. So, forgive me if I don't want to punish my own negligence regarding drugs by letting someone destroy themselves on my dime...

PS: I don't hate addicts. I don't care about them or their need for clean needles (just like they don't care about me and my Voltaren). If they need stuff, let them buy it themselves. If it's for medical help, detox, or rehab, then YES, I'm in. But for subsidizing their easy high? NO WAY.

One dollar costs a cent. If they spend 5 million a year, that’s $0.33 per capita.

Look, you clearly have no clue what you're talking about, yet you love playing judge and jury. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people like you out there.

I pay tolls that go toward building highways. I pay at registration, I pay at the pump, and I pay again when I hit the interstate once or twice a year. And I pay the same amount as the guy driving on the highway every single day. I pay for a ton of other things I'd rather not pay for. People die on those roads. By your logic, I'm paying for people to die. Should I just tell them at my next registration that I'm not paying the toll because I don't want my money going toward people dying?🙄

I pay AT&T, and then they use that money to build infrastructure so people in my neighborhood can get internet. I'm not getting that service directly.🙄

Honestly, the amount of nonsense I have to read on this forum is terrifying.

And do you think I'm not paying for the heptanone or the Suboxone used to treat addicts lately?

It’s easy to talk big when it isn't your problem. 👍

People would change their tune real quick if they actually had someone close to them caught up in this mess.

Megan Reed said:oh sure, because diabetics are just bad people who chose this life through their diet, so they don't deserve any help from the government 😍 since we should probably just spend all that money on some VIP lounge where people can shoot stuff without a care in the world. 😍

right, because I've definitely never heard of a single charity drive, concert, or whatever else people do to raise money for a kid's surgery. 🥳

I guess the government covers everything for them, huh?

Look, the government pays for all sorts of nonsense, especially right before an election... and this doesn't even look like a real investment, considering how much cash gets wasted on total garbage.
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Megan Reed said:then they should just toss a bin for medical waste right next to the glass, paper, and plastic recycling. 😍 😬

But I’m actually wondering—if there were a designated spot for safe disposal, would people even bother? 🤔 Or would it only work if it was kept inside those rooms?

Some people wouldn't use it either. Just like how some folks—who aren't even addicts—won't bother putting soda bottles, candy wrappers, gum, or cigarette butts in the trash and just litter everywhere instead. Honestly, what a joke. Some people are just animals, whether they're junkies or the "cool kids" in the wards.

Megan Reed said:Yeah, honestly? I’m super careful about where I step when I’m walking through local parks. 😬

And yeah, I mostly just hang out with former addicts anyway. 😳 😬

I don't know about you, but in my small town, I see kids hanging around the parks and messing around near the fences all the time. It wouldn't take much for some curious kid to pick up a discarded insulin needle while they're playing, and then someone else gets stuck with it. Now, how likely is it that you'd actually catch something from a stray needle? Who knows. But seeing used needles just sitting in the middle of a field or a playground is definitely not a great look. Unfortunately, there isn't really a designated spot to dispose of them properly, so they just end up wherever they land.

I love it when people bring up stuff like this just so you can see how many "educated" types are actually just narrow-minded, self-righteous hypocrites. 🙏

brisknomad6 said:I’m not against treatment, even if people up there were calling me that...

but I am definitely against letting junkies just get high whenever they want... hellooo?

Listen, I'm talking about DRUG USE, not TREATMENT...

Should we give psychopathic killers private rooms for murdering and raping then?

Maybe we should put prisoners to work in a quarry so they never think about stealing or killing again... instead of letting them live off the hard-working people who actually pay the bills )

Man, brisknomad6, you're talking nonsense. That's wild.

People are going to use drugs regardless, but this approach could actually prevent certain things.

Think about it. During the day, you can walk into a pharmacy and buy 100 sets of insulin supplies. Once the pharmacy closes, you're out of luck. So what's the point?

The only way to get clean gun is to head over to Sioux Falls because they have staff on duty almost always who will sell you the gear.

Most addicts don't have the time or the means to drive to Sioux Falls at night to grab clean gun and get high with the same person. Sometimes that person is so out of it you can't even find them, so you end up borrowing from someone else in your circle—and boom, there's an easy way to catch something.

Second thing: there isn't a single place where used insulin supplies get disposed of properly, so junkies just toss them wherever—manholes, parks, playgrounds, you name it.

And your hatred for addicts outweighing common sense is a whole different issue.

Seriously, what logic are you using to compare drug users to murderers and rapists? 🙄

Well, you're underperforming then. I had the exact same CPU once and managed to push it to 3.6 GHz.😁

Honestly, though, 3.42 GHz is the sweet spot. It stays rock solid while keeping the voltage low.

To hit 3.6, you have to crank the voltage up by nearly 0.3V. That's a massive jump just for an extra 180 MHz.
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
restlesslynx said:Just be careful with the voltage. As you bump up the frequency, heat dissipation goes up almost linearly, but when you crank the voltage, it hits you quadratically! 😲 Some guy actually reminded me of this, so I ran the math in my head from back in my freshman year of college and it totally checks out. 😁

Captain, the power is rising exponentially! 🙂 😁

I'm not even thinking about pushing the voltage to the limit. It doesn't make any sense to me why I'd care if the rig runs 100MHz faster if it means pulling 30% more power.

I'd much rather have things running within normal limits at a slower speed than just forcing it for some tiny, unnoticeable gains.

So, my DFI board shows a disk in QuickLaunch like it’s some kind of USB stick. Why does it do that? Honestly, who knows, and I don't really care enough to stress about it.

There’s probably an old thread about this somewhere on Hardware Forum.
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
Spent a little time messing around with my X2 +4200. I wasn't exactly aiming for world-record frequencies or anything—just wanted to give the rig a bit of a kick without cranking the voltage into the danger zone.

Stock settings were running at 11x200, which puts me at 2200 MHz with 1.280 V.

Here’s what I’ve got now:

Voltage is up to 1.440 V, clocking in at 10x266=2660MHz, with an FSB of 266x4=1064 MHz.

The RAM is sitting at 2-2-2-5@444 MHz and 2.8 V.

Honestly, I think I'll stop here since everything seems rock solid.

It’s not quite that massive 50% overclock I pulled on my old 2.4 Northwood, but you can definitely feel the difference.

Next up, I'm going to have some fun with the 7900GT and see just how much more juice I can squeeze out of it.

Yeah, I did... honestly, I bailed halfway through and have zero intention of picking it back up. Pretty sure I won't even touch the first one. (I actually started the second one just because a buddy was badgering me to give his DVD back).

coastaldriver4 said:... nose bleeding 😁

So... I've got a bit of an issue. Lately, when I wake up in the morning, my nose starts bleeding. Well, maybe not a full-on flow, but my nose feels stuffed up, and when I go to, you know, blow it 😁 a little blood comes out with it.
It wouldn't be such a big deal if it wasn't happening more and more often. It doesn't hurt, I don't have any congestion 😁, and I'm not even on any medication.
Any idea what's causing this? Stress, a cold, nerves, the dry winter air?
And how can I make it stop, or better yet, get rid of it entirely? 🙂

It's been so long since I started a new thread that I actually forgot how this works. 😁

blow your nose more gently 🤣
