Samuel Ortiz68 said:Now he’s trying to claim hospital staff planted the money on his friend. Look, the guy might be a brilliant surgeon, but as a human being? He's absolute zero. Total trash. There are about thirty people waiting on surgeries right now. What happens if there's someone else in that group who paid their way in and is now stuck in limbo?
Give it a rest. The real question is whether there are any other surgeons actually this good, and if they can even handle the backlog of operations. Word is that people from that area are going to have to travel all the way to Chicago for heart surgery now...
Unfortunately, I tend to remember pretty much everything—except, obviously, for those moments when I actually pass out. Aside from that, my memory is almost perfect... it’s just that by the next morning, certain details slip my mind, but then they usually come flooding back a few days later...

Back home in the States, it’s totally standard to head out on Friday or Saturday and just go through rivers of cocktails, beer, and whiskey shots. Even back in college, that was the vibe; it’s perfectly normal for a couple of people to polish off a whole bottle of whiskey or vodka in one night. And women drink way more than the amounts being mentioned here. Once you finish school and actually start working—meaning you're in your 20s—it is absolutely normal to go out and "go crazy." We aren't sitting there counting 1.5 liters of beer. It’s normal to get hammered. People do body shots and all that.
Then you come to America and people look at you like you're a freak because you had three beers or, heaven forbid, more than one or two tequila shots. What kind of person spends their time in bars where everyone just sips on one single drink all night or maybe two? There are no lively parties unless you're at some crusty dive bar. You won't find them in the cool cocktail lounges or anything. Same goes for private parties and BBQs.
What do you mean, "control"? I'll start worrying about control when I'm married with kids. Right now, I'm single, I'm in my 20s, I have a job, and I want to live a little. That goes for me and 99.99% of the people I see out there. Come on, Americans, just loosen up.
Don't take this personally, but it seems like people in the US abstain from alcohol when you compare them to the residents of Springfield when they're really letting loose... 😁 True, we don't really do cocktails unless it's a cocktail party where they're cheaper; otherwise, they're basically just meant to finish you off... But seriously, it is unbelievable how much people drink here. It’s honestly indescribable; I've seen very few cities where people drink as much as they do here.
Should we start some kind of SPRINGFIELD - FACTS thread? You know, like those old Chuck Norris jokes or stuff about Jack...
For example: Did you know... -that Springfield is the only city on record where people actually suffer from low blood alcohol levels... -that it's a local tradition for students to grab drinks and play pool with their professors... -that there isn't a single street in Springfield without a dive bar... -that when residents of Springfield head to the coast, they don't go a single day without a drink in their system... 🤣 🤣 🤣 I'm being serious here—it's all just written as a joke... I can keep them coming if you want...
Citizen Z. g. (42) was caught driving with a staggering 5.68 BAC
SPRINGFIELD—Officers clocked this level of intoxication during a routine patrol on Tuesday night around 11 PM on the stretch of road connecting Smalltown and Smalltown.
According to the police report, Z. g. was pulled over on an open road while operating a Ford Escort, clearly wasted.
Fearing he’d keep driving in that state, they hauled him down to the local precinct, where he spent the night before being released.
And honestly, how are we supposed to hold any pride in being from Springfield...🤣 It’s not just the town with the most churches; it’s the town that can out-drink anyone else in America... Ahhhhh... true Americans right here... 🙂 🙂
If I actually bring $33, I’ll end up spending 120 bucks just to get buzzed, so lately I’ve been forcing myself to stay disciplined and only pack 30-$13... Either that, or I bring more and blow it on things like pool, darts, or foosball.
It doesn't really matter how much you drink, because if you take it sloooowly, you could knock back 8 beers and feel absolutely nothing. Obviously, that's assuming you pace yourself over something like 6 or 7 hours... Basically, you want to aim for a speed of about 1.5 beers per hour. 🤣 👍 🙂
Look, I actually FORGOT to drink any water because I didn't even bother going to the bathroom before crashing, nor did I even change out of my clothes—I just flopped straight onto the bed... Normally, I can manage the basics even if I'm "walking wrong"—getting to the restroom, brushing my teeth, washing my face, grabbing some water... all that stuff is fine...
But seriously, I've always been pretty tough and resilient when it comes to this kind of thing, but every once in a while I feel like I might push it just a little too far... just enough to let things go south🙂
lugica said:I think there might be something to that. You’re way too young to be dealing with those kinds of consequences from drinking. Even though Springfield is pretty much famous for people getting trashed. But honestly, it was smart of you to decide to quit once you realized you couldn't control yourself anymore and learned how to say "enough" when you feel it. Personally, I've never understood why kids these days have to drink until they pass out. Why can't you just have a few drinks to lift your mood? Good luck, and check back in every now and then so we can see if you're holding up!👍 🙂
Checking in. I still have a drink every once in a while, BUT... I am being super careful about it now, and I only drink just enough... I haven't even had one single time where I felt even slightly dizzy. 👍 And if there isn't a reason to, I don't drink at all...
Oh, and thanks for the compliment... I've always been one of those people who helps uphold the reputation of Springfield... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Too true... honestly, I don't get why they pinned the "Why aren't more young people staying?" thread as the top topic when we see basically the same thing pop up every single week... this should have just been added to that existing thread anyway, since it's the exact same issue: the American healthcare system—is it a total disaster or what?!??
No, because if someone loses their grip on reality and decides they want out, but their family steps in to block it, you’re looking at a massive legal and ethical nightmare... The only way this works is if things are truly terminal, where a panel of doctors has to step in and weigh the options. Even then, I honestly feel like it should be a 50/50 split when deciding the outcome. If we can't reach a stalemate, I’d say lean 51/49 toward the doctors' call...
Sure, the lead surgeon is the one on the hook, not some resident intern... But honestly, this is just straight-up sick. Imagine showing up for what’s supposed to be a "minor" procedure, only to wake up having lost a leg. And don't even get me started on the absolute worst cases—when a surgeon decides to amputate an entire limb just because they misdiagnosed the situation or were being plain incompetent. Instead of trying a less invasive fix, they just go for the kill. People like that shouldn't just lose their licenses; they should be rotting in a federal penitentiary for a few years.
You're right, Kimberly Moore90. That’s basically my whole philosophy on this forum. But seriously, don't go telling someone battling a massive, debilitating illness to just go smoke marijuana. There are people out there who would honestly rather endure the pain than even touch the stuff. It’s pretty damn sad when you think about it.
One of the side effects is dehydration, and honestly, drinking some water before you hit the sack helps prevent that absolute disaster of a morning... but why exactly does it work?
The trainers at my gym are actually pretty decent, but honestly, I couldn't care less about anyone else. I prefer hitting the weights when the place is empty—I just don't want people staring at me or feeling like they have a right to comment on my workout...
Megan Long96 said:yeah, sure but even if you generalize, there’s a mountain of misinformation and just plain moronic comments out there. and naturally, it's coming from people who don't actually study this stuff, so they have zero clue about the actual facts.
it's all muscle 😁 she's a woman, so obviously she's going to have a slightly higher body fat percentage yet the whole thing is still a really well-defined, toned physique 🙂
he's a guy, so that explains it but his results didn't just fall from the sky either 😉
I hear you... Personally, I've only hit the gym once, though I'm starting to get into it now. But I've been lurking on these fitness forums where pros—you know, actual bodybuilders—and long-time lifters hang out, so I know how much it comes down to genetics, diet, and all that. That comment about her having no muscle was just stupid. Of course she has muscle; it's just not hyper-defined. Besides, I've watched enough footage of female bodybuilding competitions on YouTube to tell you that most guys will never look like that, and honestly, even some dudes who've been lifting for years won't reach that level... and we're talking about women here... their physiques are massive...
Was that directed at me? Don't worry, I didn't take it personally... It's just, I saw one of the trainers over at my local Gold's Gym and I was honestly pretty stunned by how she looked. Given that she’s there all day working, she’s got an incredibly fit, toned physique. Like you mentioned, she doesn't have massive muscles bulging out, but everything is tight and perfectly shaped. That’s exactly what I mean... But that trainer guy? Man, he’s a whole different story altogether...
