Sepsis awareness in Health ·
So, my brother just developed sepsis right after surgery for bladder stones. To make matters worse, he’s a quadriplegic, so his overall health and immune system are already pretty compromised. He actually looked okay the day immediately following the procedure, but once he couldn't clear his lungs and his fever spiked to 100.4, everything went south fast. They rushed him straight to the ICU where they found his blood pressure had plummeted to a terrifying 52/28.
He got moved into a shock room, and thankfully his pressure is climbing a bit now, though he's hooked up to one of those machines—I honestly can't even remember the name because I've been swallowing medical jargon like crazy for the last forty-eight hours.
His heart rate is sitting at 130.
We're just stuck waiting on the lab results to identify the specific bacteria, which is going to take forever... In the meantime, he’s on broad-spectrum antibiotics.
This waiting game is absolutely killing us...
Is there any kind of therapy out there that could potentially stabilize him or at least slow down the infection while we wait for the labs to pinpoint the exact bug and get the right antibiotic dialed in? I know I'm probably talking nonsense here, but we're just grasping at straws at this point.
Fainted / Passed out in Health ·
Lately, I’ve been dealing with this weird thing where everything just goes pitch black in front of my eyes out of nowhere, and I get hit with this intense wave of weakness, almost like my heart is being squeezed tight for a second. It all flashes by in just a few seconds, you know? And it isn't even that sudden standing up from a chair kind of thing, because it happens while I'm just walking around... plus, it's definitely not because I'm tired, since there are times when it hits me while I'm just chilling and feeling totally rested

Dennis Bailey2 said:Icy. 🤦 Look, left-handedness only stopped being treated like a disgrace about 40 years ago. Before that, kids were forced to write with their right hands, and they managed just fine.

Nowadays, anyone can pick up left-handed writing if they want to; it’s purely a matter of grit and persistence. For example, when my right arm was stuck in a cast for two months, I picked it up without any trouble at all.

If lefties are supposedly "superior" because of how they process information or whatever pseudo-scientific theory people cling to, why don't we see that reflected anywhere else? Aside from having an advantage in certain positions on a soccer field or a baseball diamond, there's zero evidence. 🤣

tell that to my in-laws🤦

Both my sisters are total lefties, so they aren't exactly outliers or anything... just your run-of-the-mill examples. Honestly, the only weird thing I actually remember is that they both used to try and write from right to left when they were little.

I can't even figure out if my kid is left-handed or right-handed yet. One minute he’s going all in with his left hand, then the next he's switched over to the right. It's totally unpredictable.🤷
Whenever I'd give him some crayons or markers, he’d just scribble away with zero interest in what he was actually doing—just mindless doodling, really.
But then I go out and buy him some watercolors, and suddenly, boom—he's an artist! He draws a sun, a tree, some grass, and everything looks perfectly color-coordinated.

So I see everyone's just obsessed with talking about intelligence, but honestly, there's a whole other side to this coin that nobody seems to want to touch.
Like, if you actually look at the data from various left-wing intelligence studies, it turns out that leftists tend to have shorter lifespans—we're talking an average of ten years less than right-wingers—and they also deal with much higher rates of mental health issues.
It’s pretty clear that, generally speaking, they're just more fragile and prone to struggles compared to the right.

Kimberly Robinson2 said:It’s honestly pathetic—not for them, obviously—that they get paid for a full 45-minute class period when they’re really only teaching for maybe 20 or 25 minutes. And don't even get me started on the prep work; by the time they actually settle those little monsters down in the classroom, what’s left of the lesson? 🤷

Look, if they want to celebrate, fine by me—they have their breaks—but they should actually do their jobs properly and save the festivities for after school is out...

Even factory workers eat and celebrate during their 20 or 30-minute lunch breaks, but once that whistle blows, they better be back at their stations!

I can already hear someone typing out some lecture about "educational differences," or asking why a blue-collar worker didn't just go to college to become a teacher instead. To that, I'll say this ahead of time: just shut up and do your job. Stop whining about how low the salaries are when you aren't pulling $667 shifts like a laborer working six days a week for
!
I know it isn't easy for them, but let's be real—it isn't easy for anyone else either.

Man, you are dead wrong on this one... Every single job is grueling, and honestly, if you carry this mindset that teachers don't actually do anything, there is a massive chance your own kid is going to grow up thinking the exact same way and won't give a damn about respecting their instructors later on.
It's because lazy bums in those positions are pulling in checks they haven't earned.🙄

Look, every single profession out there has its share of slackers, so whatever..
Postpartum dizziness: Anyone else dealing with this? in Women's Health ·
Sarah Nelson86 said:1. Look, I totally get that a neurologist isn't a psychiatrist... my point is just about how she said it, you know? Like, "Go have a little chat with him..." How would anyone else take that if they heard it??
2. And for the record, I wasn't just getting a standard CBC; I was specifically checking my iron levels and looking into anemia.
3. I’m already scheduled to see the neurologist, but obviously, I’m stuck waiting until my appointment date rolls around...
4. Honestly, I’d love to just get these issues sorted out once and for all...

I don't even get why this is bothering you so much.🤷
Even if they were a psychiatrist, there’s really no reason to feel bad about it.
And if they hadn't referred you elsewhere, then what would be the point?
If your blood work is fine, sending someone to a neurologist for these kinds of symptoms is standard procedure.
Besides, it could totally be coming from your spine—I used to deal with crazy dizziness because of my back issues.
Mine actually started up when I was breastfeeding because I was always nursing in such awkward positions that my spine just took the hit.
Throw in some low blood pressure on top of that...

Edit: okay, I just saw how often you're actually feeling dizzy. Personally, I wouldn't be losing sleep over it, especially if it's just that spinning sensation you get when you stand up too fast from sitting or lying down.
wirednomad42, you didn't just launch a project here, you gave birth to a whole living thing.
I mean, looking at this entire thread, everyone seems way too obsessed with "stuff" and material things.
Look, I get it—money matters, getting that degree, climbing the corporate ladder...
But if you hyper-focus on all that from day one, you might just end up creating some depressed little careerist who lives for the grind.

Forget about the Ivy League degrees and the real estate portfolios for a second; right now, she just needs affection and a mom who’s actually present.
And you can't be "parenting" every single second of the day, you know? A kid isn't some tiny little robot we can just program and fine-tune to perfection.
They need to actually be kids, period. We were all kids once, our parents made plenty of mistakes along the way, and somehow we all turned out mostly alright.

So, the results are in and they’re pointing to an unknown.
It says there's an unknown in the cervical arch and then a maintained version in the thoracic area.

What am I looking at here? Am I going to be stuck in a brace or should I go see a chiropractor? And honestly, can you even fix this kind of thing?
Thanks

Kimberly Wright said:so here’s what I’ve noticed about everyone I know who’s tried all those different fad diets...
everyone treats a diet like some kind of temporary prison sentence they just have to endure so they can hit a specific number on the scale
but seriously, what happens after that? 😕
are you just gonna roll back into your house looking like a sack of potatoes and start stuffing yourself with junk again?

look, if your goal is to drop weight and then just pack it all right back on a few months later, then sure, maybe it’s a great plan for you.

but that’s not how I’d play it.
I’d just start eating like someone who actually weighs what they should for their height. I don't really get into the whole calorie counting thing, though I guess it’s pretty easy enough to figure out. That way, you aren't starving yourself or absolutely wrecking your digestion, but there’d still be a deficit compared to how much I was eating before—which is what put me thirty pounds over in the first place—so the weight would eventually just start melting off. And since I don't want to end up looking like a walking skeleton, I’d change my habits and pick up some kind of sport (you could go any which way with that one, really), but at an intensity that actually fits my life, you know? For good. Not like, "oh, I'm going to hit the gym every single day for five months and then immediately turn back into a total couch potato." 😬

anyway, just rambling a bit here because the thought popped into my head.

what's the point of counting calories anyway? It's basically just another version of dieting, so you're right back where you started.
It would be much better if she just ate half as much as she used to.
All that calorie tracking is just going to leave her feeling hungry and obsessed with food 24/7.

Stipe, I was being sarcastic, okay?

Her biggest dark secret is that she’s actually pushing 200 pounds, even though everyone thinks she’s like, a tiny 110.🤣?

But seriously though. Losing weight is easy if you actually try—just move more, eat less, and stick to greens.🙂

shadowcobra32 said:she actually went ahead and made a profile just to spill her darkest secrets that are eating her alive day after day. naime, she's 22 years old, about 5'4", and weighs... hmm... 200 lbs...😢

hold up, "darkest secrets"? honestly, I respect the hustle if you're actually trying to pass those off as secrets🙏

how on earth are you planning to hide all that weight🤷
A gut feeling? Seriously? You can't just rely on some vague hunch, man—either take a damn test or go get your blood work done
Red Bull in Health ·
Don't go playing games with this kind of stuff🙂
Look, if your weight is actually putting your health at risk, just head straight to your doctor so they can run some tests. That’s the only way you’re getting a prescription if you even qualify for Red Bull.
Besides, Red Bull has side effects that'll make your head spin, and honestly, anyone with half a brain would just ditch that crap entirely and start hitting the gym and fixing their diet instead.
It’s totally possible it’ll show up for you any day now; I mean, I’m out here dealing with breakouts at the PMU even though I’m definitely not a teenager anymore🤣. Just hang tight for a bit or just go ahead and do exactly what the title of this thread says😉
Ventolin drops in Health ·
Thanks! Look, here’s the deal—she was taking him in for regular nebulizer treatments, but last week things got really scary because he had some major airway obstructions. He ended up hooked up to oxygen for two whole days at the hospital. The inhalers just weren't doing the trick anymore, you know? Eventually, they cleared him to come home, but now she’s gotta go out and grab a specific inhaler with a mask so she can put the drops directly into the device
Ventolin drops in Health ·
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can actually pick up Ventolin drops for an inhaler around here? A friend of mine has this little kid who absolutely has to use those specific drops for his inhalations, but apparently, she heard they aren't even stocked in our pharmacies anymore. Is that true? She mentioned that maybe Canada might be the closest place where they’re still available, but I don't know about all that. Any leads would be huge, thanks in advance🙏
I’m not even close to being pregnant again, but since I just gave birth three months ago, I’m pretty sure this is all just my hormones acting crazy during postpartum recovery. Seriously, don't sweat it—you aren't pregnant!
So, I went ahead and tried out that whole new testing thing yesterday just to see if I could finally clear up all those nagging doubts, but honestly? It ended up being a total wash😁. I mean, at the end of the day, what's the big deal? A test is just a test, it's all the same old song and dance anyway
