How to get the free Windows 10 icon? in IT Support ·
It’s honestly gone for good, and believe me, I’ve tried every trick in the book to get rid of it. But hey, I guess some things just stay out of reach no matter how hard you chase them.
Google Drive issues in IT Support ·
I’ve been running Windows 7 on my setup and everything works like a charm, from the initial installation right down to moving files around without any hiccups. Honestly, I'm kind of at a loss for what else I could suggest to help you out 🤔

Try doing a fresh reinstall of Google Drive, and when you’re walking through the setup process, just make sure you uncheck the D: drive!
Google Drive issues in IT Support ·
First, you’ll want to open up Finder, right-click on your Google Drive folder, and select Properties,

Once that Properties window pops up, just head over to the Location Tab and click on Move. From there, you can pick exactly where you want everything to live—in your case, I’d suggest something like D:\Google Drive

After that, just follow the prompts to confirm you want to move the files,

Just a quick heads-up though: make sure you actually create a new folder named Google Drive on your D: drive before you start. If you don't, the system might just dump all those individual files directly onto the root of the D: drive instead of keeping them organized, and then you'll find yourself back at square one trying to fix it later.
Once the transfer is finished, you can simply delete the old Google Drive folder from your C: drive, and you're all set!

The monitor actually has an HDMI port! Take a closer look at the specs—it clearly says HDMI IN right there.

Ethernet speeds in IT Support ·
Everything in my setup is hardwired with cables, and I'm running a Sony media player equipped with a 4TB WD Red 3.5" SATA drive inside. The data flow basically goes from my PC, through my General Electric gear, over to my Dell, and finally hits the media player. I had a hunch that the General Electric unit might be the bottleneck in this chain, but unless I've got my facts wrong, that part should support Gigabit LAN just fine.
Ethernet speeds in IT Support ·
The short version:
I've got my PC hooked up to a Sony Bravia TV down in the basement, and I have a media player connected to a Netgear Nighthawk in the living room—which is set up as an Access Point and also linked back to the Sony Bravia TV. Every time I try to stream movies from my PC over to the media player, the transfer speed tops out at about 8 MB/s. Since everything in the chain (the PC, the Sony Bravia TV, and the Netgear Nighthawk) is rated for Ethernet speeds, I was really expecting things to fly much faster than that. Does anyone have any idea what might be bottlenecking the connection?

How to remove a second audio track from a movie? in IT Support ·
Normally, you can just toggle between different audio tracks if a movie has two or more separate tracks available, but in this specific case, the Russian dialogue was basically baked right over the original track, so there isn't much we can do about it.

Speaker issues in IT Support ·
I was just thinking—is it possible you accidentally set your speakers to work only as the > instead of the >? That would totally explain why they only seem to kick in whenever you're actually on a > call!

Video lagging and slow PC performance in IT Support ·
nimbleskipper5 said:you’re going to hear all sorts of things on a forum like this.. about the fan situation.. because honestly, keeping those fans running properly is huge.. you can always manually crank up the speed which is a bit of a hassle.. or you could just run CCleaner—I think version 5.01 was the last big one--to clear out the junk.. then maybe give the system a quick scan with Malwarebytes to make sure everything is clean.. that should pretty much cover it.. if you really want to go the extra mile, you could even use Norton Utilities Platinum.. if you're curious about where to pick that up, just shoot me a private message.

Yeah, a fresh Windows install definitely needs a good sweep with CCleaner, a deep dive for malware, and of course, tidying up the registry with Norton Utilities Platinum.
The only thing you hit the nail on the head with was saying people are going to say all sorts of things here, and coming from you, that's a fair point.
Maybe try reading the entire post before jumping in with advice based just on the thread title next time.☕
Anyone know what this might be? in IT Support ·
Have you checked if NVMe is enabled in your UEFI settings? If it is, then everything should be behaving "normally" since that's what allows for Plug and Play support. Also, did you happen to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver? That was exactly the hiccup I ran into when I first swapped in my SSD, and honestly, once I cleared that out, I don't think I could ever forget how much of a headache it saved me!
Netgear Nighthawk R7000 troubleshooting and tips in IT Support ·
I was wondering if it's actually possible to set up the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 so it functions as both a switch and an access point at the exact same time? Basically, I’m looking to plug my TV, Receiver, and DVD Player directly into those LAN ports, while simultaneously using the Wi-Fi to get my Laptop, Phone, and Tablet online.
In general speaking, can any router be configured this way? I stumbled upon an even better option recently Apple
Is Cat7a worth it? in IT Support ·
Hey everyone, I just realized that the crew who handled my home wiring actually ran Cat7 cables instead of the Cat6 we originally agreed upon. I was wondering if this is going to cause any headaches during my day-to-day PC usage, and also, would it be totally fine to use standard Cat6 wall jacks to connect the cable to my computer? Thanks!
Checking the "connection in IT Support ·
It’s definitely not on my end, I can say that for sure; every once in a while, the connection just drops out completely for about 10 to 15 seconds, leaving my tablet, my phone, and even the TV totally dead. At this point, it feels like the culprit is most likely the router itself.
Checking the "connection in IT Support ·
I finally got things stabilized by hooking up a 10m Ethernet cable, and now I’m hitting a solid 75Mbps on Speedtest. However, whenever I start pulling files through Internet Download Manager, the speed just starts jumping all over the place—it fluctuates wildly between 8, 9, 12, 10, 15, then drops back down to 5, 7, 9, 15, 10 MB/s. It’s like a roller coaster instead of staying at a nice, steady pace, say around 9 MB/s, right?
My setup is running an MSI Z87-Pro, an Intel Core i7-4770K, 8GB of RAM, an EVGA GeForce GTX 7970, and a Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter.
So, yeah, those annoying little speed hiccups are still happening, so I'm going to install Chrome to see if it behaves any differently when I'm downloading.
Checking the "connection in IT Support ·
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward the easiest way to check my actual connection quality.
It feels like I'm losing my connection for about ten seconds every five minutes or so. Everything seems to be running perfectly smooth until I try to load a specific webpage, and then it just hangs there forever. It’s almost like the browser gets stuck in limbo; once I close Firefox and relaunch it, everything goes back to normal—right up until the next little freeze happens. I'm currently using Wi-Fi, and I can't help but wonder if the wireless signal itself might be bottlenecking my speeds. My ISP promised me a solid 75 Mbps, but whenever I run a speedtest, I’m only seeing about 50 Mbps. I really want to dig into this and figure out where the leak is so I know whether I should be giving my provider a call or if the issue is sitting right here in my own house.
