Looks like the movie lineup tanked, the concert schedule was weak, and the turnout was pretty pathetic... why?

Start by finding a local Film Society... they offer annual workshops $133 (at least in the States)... which aren't a bad way to kick things off. Most importantly, it's a solid way to meet people who actually care about the same stuff you do.
