lol I definitely didn't catch GVSB at KSET. 😁 😁

That was actually the weekend my current boyfriend showed up in Austin under the pretense that we all had to cook dinner for his best friend and my best friend. Turns out they were still busy cooking while we’d already been together for a year and a half 🙂

That movie is killer... I loved that one part where they were in some restroom messing around with a cup of coffee. So good.

Dude, give me a break!!! I hate that phrase.

Look, I don't have some rigid formula for judging people!!! I just love watching them. And I love people. Honestly, I can find common ground and strike up a conversation with the roughest guy on the street. I just know.

It's like how hollowseal33 thought she was hilarious right away. 😍 😁

Tyler Grant86 said:I have to admit, I’m genuinely shocked by what's going down right now. It looks like the Department of Culture—run by the Republican Party—is about to propose an amendment to the draft legislation meant to establish the Council for Youth and New Media Culture. We’ve already come up with a working title for it, which might change during the process, but its actual purpose remains crystal clear.
LOL, they totally crapped themselves... 😂 😂 😂

P.S. I still can't believe they're actually terrified of us... here's another one for the road! 🆙

My bad! 🙂

Look, I get it—this is turning into one of those "do you judge people by their music taste" threads. Honestly, I don't judge anyone by how they vote. That’s why 😎Frank Howard79 remains totally cool in my book👋. Even his obsession with Cow & Chicken isn't something I look down on🙂. Civilization just spits out weird outliers in endless amounts (like, to someone else, I'm the outlier, right? It's actually pretty hilarious). Personally, the more crazy variations there are in the world, the better. It breeds tolerance
.

(Oh, and hey, banderase, when I called that damn Mexican wrong, you censored me and everyone jumped down my throat calling me a racist, when I was clearly just joking🙂 🙂...))

Sure, but I know plenty of people who show up to those on-topic meetups wearing beat-up sneakers and even have Rage Against the Machine playing at home (mostly older folks, obviously—they probably speak Russian instead of English, haha). They end up voting Republican just because everyone else in their house does.😢

Look, at my house, everyone who can vote (Mom, my sister, Dad, and me) voted for a different party. My sister went for the Republican Party, while the rest of us went left—my brothers were basically rooting for the Democrats. Naturally, nobody gave my sister a hard time about her choice. But honestly, my sister's been living in Washington, D.C. since she was five, and she's never even stepped foot in a club. Don't even get me started on the local underground scene, and my old man is just an old-school traditionalist.

I don't know. I was raised to tolerate everything except hate. People have called me an extreme liberal a million times (which feels like an oxymoron to me), but why? Because I don't actually have a problem with Republicans. In fact, plenty of my closest friends from high school voted Republican. It’s a sad reality that most of them only did it because of their parents or family influence.

So here’s what I’ve been chewing on regarding the elections. Why is it that, as a rule, kids from Republican families almost never vote "left"? I know tons of them—they all think progressively, but they won't vote that way just to please their parents. Yet, here’s my sister, along with some other girls I know from super liberal families, voting for "right-wing" parties without any hesitation or shame. And I'm not even talking about some weird youth indoctrination here.

You seriously cannot tell me that those of you who vote Republican but think like liberals—people who listen to alternative music and hang out at clubs—can HONESTLY vote "right." No way. I don't believe you. Whatever you vote for is fine by me; I truly believe everyone has the right to vote for the American bloc. But I just can't buy it. 🙂

(This is all a bit scattered and you probably won't get exactly what I'm driving at, but whatever...)

Ashley Rogers2 said:I honestly don't care about anyone's religion, nationality, sexual orientation, race, skin color, tooth color, hair color, or even what color underwear they wear (even though I vote Republican). I listen to alternative music too (though I still vote Republican—I really don't get how those things are supposed to connect)😕 )

The Republican Party is a nationalist, right-wing party. If you have a problem with people of different races, you’re just an idiot, regardless of whether you voted Republican or not. But, if I know someone voted Republican, it tells me certain things. For instance, they're likely Catholic, but there's a 99% chance they haven't stepped foot in a church in a decade (so religious education in schools doesn't strike them as "perverse"). They oppose abortion, same-sex marriage, and don't even get me started on the legalization of soft drugs. Generally speaking, alternative music scenes and clubs like the American Chemical Society or Small Town, USA openly push for those very things. They go way beyond mere tolerance; they pride themselves on being liberal, and that's exactly the crowd you'll find hanging out there. You're basically contradicting yourself. 👋

Yeah.

Fine then, here are yours: 2, 5, 9, 13, 23, 28, 34. I'll take the odd numbers. 😁 😁

Let's talk music! 🙂

MUSIC ONLY! I’m not interested in talking about stupid politics or rehashing stuff from the early 90s and how people acted back then. I don't give a damn! It has absolutely nothing to do with the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Go talk politics somewhere else, or just start writing about music!

Yeah, exactly. 🙂

Sarah Allen51 said:Look, man, the same people heading to the IEEE today are the ones who voted overwhelmingly for the Republican Party back in '91 because they were all about that nationalist pride. Honestly, this kind of hypocrisy is just exhausting.

Well, I was eight years old in '91, and I'm heading out to the IEEE today. Most of the people there are roughly my age. So, you really don't have a clue what you're talking about.

I mean seriously, if anyone is a fake, it's Iron Maiden!!! 😎
Look, I honestly think Bob Dylan is a terrible singer.

😲 😲
A voice doesn't make a singer. Period. I'm done arguing about this incredibly stupid topic with people who clearly don't care about music (and because you don't care, there's nothing left to talk about—sorry guys, but I really don't care what your opinion is on whether someone "counts" as a singer). If you haven't gotten the point by now, you never will.
Check out my avatar.
Man... thanks so much. Anyway,

I second this:
That doesn't mean she won't make it, though. Sure, maybe she won't sing with that raw soul you get from someone like Leonard Cohen—who doesn't have much of a voice but has phenomenal feeling and touch—but I honestly think that only matters to a tiny group of people. Most folks will just talk about how she has an incredible range and a killer voice, which is more than enough to build a massive career.

Reading through all this, one thing stands out to me: it’s basically three guys arguing over music that isn't meant for jumping on tables or passing the time while cleaning the house (okay, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't think of anything else), treating it like high art. Then there's a handful of people who assume that because a woman has a good voice, she's automatically a great singer. Those two things don't always go hand in hand. In fact, they rarely do.

This is absolutely awesome.
