Personally, I always go my own way with CDs that aren't originals but mean a lot to me. I keep them in a box and make custom homemade covers. I’ll cut out stuff from magazines, newspapers, travel guides, or world atlases—just gluing, peeling, and sketching until it looks right. In the end, they always look better than the official ones 🙂

I can never remember if Ænima is the album or the song... and then I have to figure out if it's spelled Ænima or Aenema... 😁 Anyway, regarding the cover—I was hanging out with a friend from Australia. I showed her this plain one, and she told me, "No, get the one with the eye." 😁 Honestly, though, Lateralus is better than Ænima. Don't tell anyone.

As for that Him track... look, I'll admit I'm totally clueless when it comes to whatever modern pop culture is happening on MTV. For that Him song... well, I didn't really know it, just the "good" one. So, I'm browsing the store displays between Britney and Nelly when I spot that CD. My god, I just started cracking up (of course, I realized it was that Him song). I'm standing there in front of the window, people are walking right past me, and I'm losing it laughing. Then the clerk inside spots me within a minute, comes out to see what's going on, and looks at what I'm staring at like it's the funniest thing ever. I had to make a run for it. 😳

Tool's Lateralus—once you peel off that black sleeve and check out the translucent layer underneath (if you actually pay attention, those letters spell out GOD on the back page)...

And Tool's Ænima, but not the one sold here—I mean the US version with that holographic plastic finish🙂

Also, that special edition CD from Flare with the little cuddly cover was just so cute🙂

Then there's Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen; that cover always stuck with me as being way cool. Plus, Love's Forever Changes cover... and Frank Zappa's Hot Rats (killer photo), and Warhol's "Banana" on the Velvet Underground & Nico... honestly, there are way too many that I dig. I'll have to give it more thought...😁

And Dylan was (seriously!!!) much better looking than those two—just look at him here or here.... there are plenty more. 😁My favorite photo of Dylan is from the '61 booklet... but I can't find it anywhere online... it's just so punk before punk even existed... and there are tons of other cute shots 🙂

Geographically speaking, Scotland is part of the UK—alongside Wales and England—so there shouldn't be any confusion there.

As for the best American bands... I can't think of any right this second.😁

It’s true you can't get much for $500, but you could pick up a decent Sony mini-system. Sony is easily the highest quality brand out there, but they have one unforgivable flaw—their CD players die incredibly fast. Almost every Sony system I've come across has had that exact issue, so you might be better off looking at other brands. Go with Panasonic, or if you can find one, Pioneer (though I've never seen their mini-systems around here in the States). I wouldn't touch Aiwa; I haven't heard anything good about them.

Look, on one of my Sony systems, the CD player died after about six years of use—and then I got the most unbelievable example of customer service in America. Even though I didn't have the receipt or any warranty left after six years (poof!), they fixed the disc for me totally free of charge...

As for Aiwa—I don't know about lately, but in my experience, they were always pretty shitty.

(BTW, Susan Nguyen85, you probably don't even have what you'd call Hi-Fi—just a loud micro-system. You couldn't buy that for $700 even if you tried. Honestly, what you have right now could probably be bought for $500)

I watched the director's cut of Blade Runner first 😳 (I saw the "original" ages ago, and I always remembered it being a masterpiece, even if the specific details had faded)... but now, whenever I think about that movie, all I can see is that shot with the transparent raincoat and the blood after the shooting... it’s just executed so perfectly... absolutely brilliant...

Look, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave are three incredibly gritty guys with insane charisma. And I’ve always been a sucker for charisma 😍 . That includes Thom Yorke too. Compare them to someone like the handsome Adam Jones from Tool 😉 or Damon Albarn from Blur.
