Logical fallacies and inconsistencies in Philosophy ·
One thing I noticed when I first joined this forum—which isn't always so obvious in real life—is how many people just can't argue without falling into logical fallacies. It seems like a huge crowd will just ignore any evidence that proves them wrong and just keep doubling down on their own nonsense.

What you mentioned definitely counts as a fallacy. In my book, those folks still fall into that same category, even if they show a little "spark" of intelligence here and there.

How do you force them? That's a really interesting question. I'm going to keep following this thread to see if anyone actually has an answer...
Honestly, trying to get someone to use the same logical standards as you is kind of like trying to force someone to stop being so subjective. I don't think you can really change someone like that, but hey, maybe someone here has a bright idea... 😛

Your post really got me thinking about how much better discussions would be if everyone just approached things objectively. Imagine if we weren't all just trying to prove our own theories right, but were actually looking for the truth instead. But man, that's a whole different conversation... ☕

Seriously though, where can I actually go with a handful of nickels and dimes without getting treated like a total nuisance? 😬

I have no clue what trans women take! 🤷
I’m guessing it’s just the usual estrogen and progesterone, so it’s probably the same stuff. If it works for them, it’d likely work for her too, right? But then you have to wonder about the side effects. Honestly, if it were really that simple and safe, all us girls with small chests would be on hormone therapy by now!

electricpanther82 said:There aren't actually pills made specifically for that. I take my birth control, and that’s what they're for—you have to get them prescribed by a gynecologist after a check-up. A side effect can be breast swelling or growth, which happened to me, though it doesn't happen to every girl or woman. I have a really good reason to take mine: protection. Starting them just because you want bigger breasts and hoping they grow? Honestly, that sounds silly. You shouldn't mess around with your hormones like that...

I know there aren't any pills meant for that purpose. I get that some girls see growth from certain meds, but we're talking about actual hormones here (not for birth control). I think those are usually for women whose bodies don't produce enough hormones naturally, like during menopause or if they've had their ovaries removed and stuff!

That's why I think it's so risky, since nobody even prescribed them to her (don't even ask how she got them)!

I’m not trolling at all, I promise—this is actually a super serious question for me. I wasn't sure where else to ask so I just started this thread (sorry if I should've posted elsewhere!). I'm really curious about what kind of consequences this could lead to.
Does anyone know?
Is it okay to get tattoos? in Health ·
They aren't even on my face, they're just on my body. It’s not like they look terrible or anything, but seeing them just drives me crazy—I seriously want to dig them out right then and there! I could always see a dermatologist, but honestly, who has the extra cash to pay for something like that?????

What's a doctor even going to do for me? 🤔

I get breakouts whenever I spend too much time out in the sun. Any ideas on how a doctor can actually help with that?

What a troll, I’ve got over 750 posts under my belt!

I mean, I don't know, this just feels normal to me!

That's why I'm asking—what's so unhealthy about it?

They're such pests, honestly. If they keep this up, I might just turn into a Dalmatian! But they're so tiny, like, millimeter-sized. I don't have the $6667 to go around and take them all down!

Birthmarks are just so ugly, ugh!

Sometimes I seriously feel like just cutting mine out myself!

I keep hearing about people freaking out when a birthmark changes, like they think it’s some huge medical emergency 😕so they rush to a surgeon and drop a ton of cash just to have it removed! 😕

Is it actually bad that I want to just slice my birthmarks off?

A friend was bragging to me the other day about how she went out and bought some hormone pills on her own—specifically some testosterone! She’s pretty flat-chested right now, so she thinks this is going to help her grow some breasts.

WTF???
I’ve seriously never heard of anyone taking hormones just to get bigger breasts. This sounds incredibly sketchy to me!

Could this cause any permanent damage?

I just meant if they're acting like trolls, then yeah, they should be worried!

Anyway, I'm gonna go troll someone else. I'm too scared of Lisa Hernandez3 to stay here! 🙂

Congrats. This is likely your path toward self-improvement—I went ahead and renamed the thread slightly in honor of that, if you don't mind.
Bye.

LMAO! 😂

If you’re talking about that ridiculous thread about butts, honestly, I had no clue what I was even typing either—clearly I shouldn't be hopping on these forums without my morning coffee first! 🤷

Some of these topics are just so dumb they practically beg you to troll!

Enjoy the read.🙂

It takes a bit of time to process.

I actually beat it like an average guy!
Honestly, I’m not even surprised by how they think, it’s just how ABSTRACTLY they process everything!
Most of us probably think in images when we're dealing with real stuff—like what to grab for dinner—but when it comes to abstract ideas, I definitely need words to shape and direct those random flashes of thought. It's like there's no other way to pin down an abstract concept than by using language!
What traits and characteristics would you love to have? in Psychology & Therapy ·
True, you probably won't need to know every single vessel coming out of the heart, but it’s just good common sense to know the aorta and pulmonary artery are the main players—not some dozen different veins!
Then again, you never know when a little extra knowledge might actually come in handy. Like, having a basic grasp of biology can really help when you're trying to wrap your head around a medical diagnosis or how a treatment works!

Anyway, I'm off to go brush up on my studies! 😁

Morgan Bishop4 said:honestly, I don't think you can really draw deep connections through just general knowledge... because at the end of the day, it's mostly just surface-level info... I feel like you can actually link things together when you actually know two subjects deeply, rather than just knowing a tiny bit about everything...

like, when you're actually majoring in something, you can see how a million other things in life tie back to it. at least, that's how it works for me... I'm starting to see these patterns emerge between different topics... whereas general knowledge is just... well, it's pretty shallow...

Well, I wasn't talking about superficial facts when I said "general knowledge"!

But I consider all of it part of a well-rounded education because nobody can ever truly master every single niche. For example, you could spend your whole life studying electrical engineering at MIT or somewhere, and even then, there isn't a single professor or expert out there who knows absolutely everything!

That's why I call the expertise I'm aiming for my "general knowledge."

Take biology, for instance. To me, general knowledge isn't just knowing the heart has four chambers. It's knowing the exact layout of the vessels, the valves, how every little part functions, the tissue types, how the SA node works, how that shows up on an EKG, various diseases, and all those Latin terms!

Do you honestly think you can't make connections with knowledge like that?????

Here's an example of making a connection! First: You know the biology behind metabolism and nutrition. Second: You know from experience that sketchy brands like Amway are total scams and bad for you. So, when someone tries to sell you some Herbalife nonsense, you shut them down immediately because you connected those two pieces of info and realized it's garbage!
