Nike "borrows" album art in Music ·
Mr. Wrong said:Well, plenty of people do. I mean, why does everyone end up buying Chuck Taylors anyway?

Hear, hear... honestly, I don't know a single woman who doesn't own a pair of Converse—well, okay, my mom, my sister, and my grandma... they're the exceptions. But it's everywhere among guys too, even though I've personally never worn them once. I rocked some Nikes when I was a kid, but lately, I've been wearing these beat-up little skater Emericas for seven years straight—they're indestructible—and some black Adidas slip-ons that are just as tough...
I don't get why those Chucks are such a rip-off. They're almost never under $100... It’s pretty ironic, really—how they went from being cheap, decent footwear to this overpriced, trendy status symbol...

My thoughts...

MANUEL GcTTSCHING - E2E4
He’s still lightyears ahead of his time—I bet we'll be having this exact same debate ten years from now once things finally catch up...
By the way... that '73 album "Inventions for Electric Guitar" is pure, unadulterated trance without needing a drum machine to hold your hand. Honestly, nothing better has been released in that niche, and I doubt anything ever will be. The guy was one of the true musical visionaries of the late 20th century; he basically mapped out everything from the various branches of electronic music to those genres people lazily slap the "post-rock" label on today...

A few other notable mentions...
Liquid Liquid
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Maybe even...
Luxuria - Unanswerable Lust

I'm a bit tipsy and exhausted, so I'll probably think of a few more tomorrow.

Hey, look... don't be so clumsy. With height like yours, you could actually make a career out of sports 🙂

Hey, Carol Jackson45, you find guys like that on every street corner in America... even Lale fits the description perfectly, for example 😉

Thank God... none of those bands listed actually made the cut... but since they're Italian, I suppose you have to listen with a grain of salt—though, hey, there's always that slim chance Italy might actually produce a decent band one day.

Yeah—well, now that I've actually sat down and thought about it... you're right, those guys are absolutely terrible. 🙂
Is there even any decent music coming out of Italy??? It feels like everyone there is either some preppy fashionista, a mobster, or a soccer player... basically the unholy trinity. 🙂

I also remember that third band... some group that played at The Fillmore maybe four or five years back... they were Italian... played punk... I don't think they were a total disaster, but they weren't exactly great either... do you remember Lale?

What kind of band from Italy are we talking about? I remember a few years back when some Italian group played at a rock club in Lollapalooza—they had this hermaphrodite frontman and were incredibly dull, almost like some wannabe emo act... I really hope it's not them.

Yeah... I mean, why does that whole mess even still exist? Not to mention how they constantly come after us with those endless facts... the world already has more than enough flying squadrons as it is; what on earth did we need a second one for?

I’ll definitely be hitting up Coachella—and honestly, I’ll probably catch Nine Inch Nails too. It isn't even just about the lineup; it's about seeing who shows up. They’ll likely have a presence at Darkwood Dub as well. As for everything else? It’s basically just background noise—though I always leave room for some local indie bands to surprise me. Usually, one of them manages to pull it off, but last year was a total bust... nothing stood out, unless you count Septic, but I don't really count them in that category.

I honestly don't get why my generation gets so worked up over Coldplay... they're basically just pure AOR at this point. 🙂

Man, Mihajlo—you really ought to check out some art brut... looks like Fall is finally breeding its own little successors... 👍

I listened to a couple of Coldplay tracks... then I shut them off because you started playing that new Art Brut and some Bloc Party... honestly, those two albums alone make all that Coldplay stuff feel completely irrelevant.
Laura Roberts61 said:People keep acting like they’re missing out on the essentials—you know, classics like *The Shawshank Redemption*, *Gone with the Wind*, or even *Timmy*.

Look, the reason is simple: they aren't exactly masterpieces. They’re very solid, sure—but they're overrated. Take *The Shawshank Redemption*, for example. It’s a decent, conventional drama with a compelling story, but that’s really where the praise ends. Nothing more, nothing less.
