I’m pretty much on board with almost every decade listed... except maybe the '30s—I’d probably throw in "Sunrise" or "The Rules of the Game" there. As for the '70s, I can't quite decide. Should it be "Chinatown," maybe "The Godfather," "Solaris," or even "A Clockwork Orange"? There were just way too many masterpieces in the '70s!
As for the '80s, the selection actually caught me by surprise in the best way, and I totally agree with it... regarding the current decade... well, I don't know yet. It isn't over yet, after all...
I’ve got one for you... an absolute masterpiece... Burt Lancaster is just incredible in it...
The Ladykillers in Movies ·
I absolutely love the Coen brothers, but watching this particular movie... man, I actually felt secondhand embarrassment for them. You know that feeling? It’s just like when you’re watching some local amateur MMA fighter or a really cringe-worthy reality TV star on cable—you end up feeling awkward just because they exist.🙂

Why on earth hasn't the bad Seeds drop happened yet? 😢
It feels like they’re just trying to push some obscure Leonard Cohen-style nonsense... and I guarantee the entry fee will be at least $25 or more... ugh...
Short film about Killing / Love in Movies ·
My obsession has officially spiraled out of control—I’ve gone ahead and hunted down every single feature film he ever made... plus about half of his short films and student projects 😁
Short film about Killing / Love in Movies ·
Kieslowski is a pure genius... easily one of the greatest directors of the last quarter-century... personally, I'd rank Blind Chance as one of my top five films of all time...
This is absolute nonsense... Dreyer’s "The Passion of Joan of Arc" is the definitive film on this subject... Bresson’s "The Trial of Joan of Arc" is also top-tier.
I honestly don't get why this dull guy decided to make yet another version when he knew from the jump he was destined for total irrelevance.
Cream and Jam in Movies ·
The movie was painfully mediocre... totally bland and tasteless... which is honestly the worst fate that can befall a film...
If you’re a guy who lives for rock music, then you seriously need to check out some Krautrock!

Can, Faust, Neu!, Ash Ra Tempel, Manuel Göttsching, Kraftwerk, Amon Düül...
Narantxa said:Look, I’m basically a huge fan of Lollapalooza, and as the author of that review on The Beach Boys, I’ll tell you this: there’s a massive difference—Lollapalooza is intentional trash, whereas The Beach Boys are just accidental. Of course, that’s all just semantics and doesn't really matter—all that matters is whether a pop song actually hits or not. And honestly? The Beach Boys couldn't write a decent tune if their lives depended on it. They don't have the chops of, say, Depeche Mode, Hall & Oates, or even the most hated band on Reddit. But hey, whatever—to each their own. 🙂

Pop Nazi! 🙂
Ah, I actually thought you were talking about that American "classic" from 1943
Chetniks! Those guerrilla fighters...
Honestly, that’s one of the best trash movies ever made🙂
Btw, I’ve got it on DivX—it looks great😁
Draja Mihailovich😁
GENIUS—movie posters from Ukraine in Movies ·
The Kill Bill poster looks like something straight out of a Bresson film
So, what movies do you actually like? in Movies ·

WKW's 2046 in Movies ·
Do you happen to have this in a digital format? Preferably DivX 😎
Steven Spielberg in Movies ·
You didn't even mention his only two truly great films 🙂
Hanging Rock and The Last Wave... he basically sold out in the eighties and went downhill fast—though I’d be lying if I said "The Truman Show" wasn't a charming piece of filmmaking 🙂

Look, since we're already at the point where we're "philosophizing" over the little things...
this is just my personal take—something I’m entitled to have. If you aren't feeling it, that's on you... or are you trying to tell me who I am to question the artistic credibility of "Underground"? That's why forums even exist, right? Not because anyone's going to find the absolute truth here.

p.s. "Odyssey" is spot on...
Life is a miracle in Movies ·
Underground would have been a total masterpiece if it had about 85% fewer trumpets, less of that "heavy-handed political commentary" vibe, and didn't fall apart during those last—roughly—30 minutes of absolute misery.

Some points made here hit the mark, while others are just total nonsense... but at the end of the day, Scorsese is easily the finest director to come out of this part of the world in the last two decades... I honestly don't see anyone even coming close to him... maybe a few Canadians, if you want to split hairs... Szabó or Tarr, perhaps...
First off... all three of Malick's films... Badlands, Days of Heaven 🙂—and honestly, I have to say, goddamn, how does this look so good?
—and The Thin Red Line.
Then there's...
Tarkovsky's Nostalghia...
Dersu Uzala...
and Persona.

A fantastic film from Linklater... It’s just a shame he followed up such a streak of truly great, top-tier movies with that commercialized mess, "School of Rock."
