Regarding the rules, all I see is a copyright violation. It would be nice if they just dropped the download link, but there isn't anything explicitly prohibiting piracy here... Besides, who knows what kind of Flotron Windows he was talking about—a trial version? An original copy from his aunt?🤔 😬

👍 exactly 🕺
Ditch Windows, and you'll have $333 left over to sink into the rig. I assume there’s someone out there who actually knows how to install a clean OS 🙂

Which PSU should I buy? in Desktops ·
Timothy Kim60 said:Yeah, Accenture. Once you factor in shipping, a weaker hexa core ends up being more expensive anyway.
I built a rig for a buddy using a G1820 and a 250X; looks solid in person.

Man, I'm running three Athlon 450s
and a GTS 450.

Low power draw.

Hexa 400W vs Antec VP 450P (links)?
Ended up going with the Antec. I have a Best Buy right down the street so no shipping fees, and since I was working with a tight budget, the Hexa's price plus shipping just didn't make sense compared to what I'd pay on a card.

northernbadger2 said:I put together a build I'd probably pull the trigger on around Christmas. I've got the cash now, but I figure the sales will be better near the holidays. My main question is where to buy the parts—I keep checking Newegg, seems like my best bet for decent prices. I need your take: should I stick with them or go elsewhere? (If not, why)

Parts list:

Intel Core i7-6700 4 core (Octo Core) CPU with 3.40 GHz, Boxed with fan - $350
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3-EU Limited - $155
Samsung SSD 850 evo 500GB - $190
Seagate Barracud ST3000DM001 3TB, 7200U/min, SATA3, 3.5" - $100
Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2666MHz 16GB (2x8) - $120
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 ti gaming G1 6.0 - $770

That's about $1,685 total (roughly 12 $67 bucks short of target), plus I still need a PSU and a case, haven't decided on those yet

One more thing, I started a thread a few months back asking about a $10,000 rig, and you guys gave me advice then. Hope it's cool that I'm starting a new thread since my budget shifted a bit. Should be fine, right?

Hit us up when you're actually buying... not two months early. 🕺

I'm getting 45-50 FPS on medium at 720p with a GTS 450.
Dual monitor setup on one GPU? in Desktops ·
Chloe Vaughn3 said:I was wondering if it's actually worth running a dual-monitor setup on a single graphics card. I'm currently rocking an
Nvidia GTX 960 4GB OC, and I wanted to know if I should expect any issues—like, will things start crashing or slow down significantly if I hook up a second screen?

It won't blow up on you, don't sweat it.
Budget PC build ($500) + monitor around $125 in Desktops ·
rustyeagle55 said:Hey,

Looking for some advice here. I need a rig capable of running Adobe software, and for gaming, just enough to run League of Legends on high settings. Needs an SSD, maybe a monitor too—nothing crazy. Also looking for a GPU that can handle two monitors and a TV setup.

Someone suggested this build, what do you guys think?

1 x AMD FX X6 6300 (3.5GHz,14MB,95W,AM3+) box
1 x Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 (AM3+,DDR3,VGA,SATA II,LAN,USB 2.0) mATX, 95W CPU
1 x Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10
1 x CPU Cooler LC-CC-95, Intel/AMD, 90mm 4-pin
1 x Kingston 120 GB SSD, HyperX Fury SATA 3 2.5"
1 x GAINWARD GTX950-2048-Dual DVI HDMI DP
1 x MS KNIGHT black case, no PSU
1 x Antec VP400PC 400W PSU, 80+, 120mm

Plus this AOC LED 24" E2470SWDA monitor, VGA, DVI, audio.

No, no, and definitely no.😁 Everything is fine except the motherboard... looks like the cheapest option available. If you're buying, get a monitor with an IPS panel, especially if you're doing Adobe work. Colors will actually look decent.

If you can stretch the budget a bit, try this:
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, AM3+, AMD 970 SB950, 4x DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866
1 x AMD FX-Series X6 6300 Processor 3.5GHz,14MB,95W,AM3+, FD6300WMHK
1 x DDR3 8GB (1x8GB) Kingston, Value, 1600MHz, CL11, KVR16N11/8
1 x Kingston 120 GB SSD HyperX Fury, 2.5", SATA 3 6G
1 x FORTRON 400W PSU, HEXA plus 400, 12cm fan
1 x MS KNIGHT midi tower case without PSU
1 x LC Power Cosmo Cool, 92 mm, Hydraulic bearing, 800-2200 rpm,
1 x LG 22MP47D-P IPS, 21.5", 16:9, 1920x1080, 250 cd/m2, 5,000,000:1
1 x Gigabyte GTX950 WF2 Overclocked, 2GB GDDR5
$1728

Otherwise, swap that GPU for a GTX 750ti... League of Legends will run on max and you can plug everything you need into it.

Power supply 450W, ANTEC VP450P EC, ATX v2.3, 120mm fan
Graphics card PCI-E GAINWARD GeForce GTX 970, 4GB DDR5, DVI, HDMI, miniDP
Motherboard ASROCK B85M Pro3, Intel B85, DDR3, audio, G-LAN, S-ATA, PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, D-SUB, DVI, HDMI, mATX, socket 1150
Memory PC-12800, 8 GB, CORSAIR CMZ8GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance, DDR3 1600MHz
Processor Intel Core i5-4460 BOX, socket 1150, 3.2GHz, 6MB cache, GPU, quad Core
DVD±RW LG GH24NSD1, 24x, SATA, dual Layer, black, bulk
Case CHIEFTEC libar Series LG-01B, MIDI, black, no PSU
$2275

Well... because of that GPU, I guess I won't be hitting the gym for a few months.🤦
Do I really need to swap out the power supply, case, or motherboard just for this card?

Nah 👍
But if it were me, I’d grab a beefier power supply just for peace of mind. They lose efficiency over time anyway.
I’d probably downsize the SSD instead since you're basically just installing Windows on it. Also, ditch the stock cooler—that card comes with a basic heatsink and might get loud. Better to pick one with an aftermarket cooler.

Links is my go-to if I can put the card on a credit plan instead of paying cash upfront (which might be an option), so that's why I wanted someone to check their inventory.

So, just let me know once you've nailed down how you're paying and exactly how much cash you've got to work with. 👍

He suggested the latest Intel processor. Honestly, if I were you, I’d take that route. If you're dropping that kind of cash on a rig, just go all out with the newest tech on the market.

Performance difference is basically zero, but it costs $100 more. For that extra money, you could grab a better GPU, a bigger SSD, or a nicer monitor...

Drew Roberts3 said:Hey,

Looking for a desktop. I can pay cash upon delivery. It’s for running an embroidery machine, so I need a solid monitor recommendation—something bigger, maybe 27", so I can actually see the thread work clearly.
Also, a teenager will be gaming on it occasionally, so it needs to handle games (mostly Minecraft right now, but probably something heavier in a year or two). Total budget is around $700 or $800. Needs to be quiet and easy to upgrade later. I’d prefer an i5 setup where everything—monitor and GPU—is balanced. The monitor doesn't have to be from the same brand.
Thanks for the help.
