This build is from ADM. Is this the best deal for the money? 😁😁
Daniel Martinez16 said:Greetings. I am a new member here, so please bear with me if I inadvertently break any community rules!
As the title suggests, I am looking to put together a solid gaming rig that offers the best possible value—essentially, I want to get as much performance as my budget allows. 😁haha
To be more specific, I am aiming for a high-quality build that can handle current titles and remain capable of running future releases. I could potentially stretch my budget up to about $7,000. $0.00
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
Thank you!
Gregory Hayes87 said:found some cheap thermal pads, slapped them on, tightened everything down... temps sitting at 59°C now. PC is dead silent.
jel anyone looking for a new Zalman cooler?
Anthony Hayes82 said:Yeah, I just checked. There's room for a fan on the metal, but where's the air coming from? The front panel is totally sealed shut.
Anthony Hayes82 said:My case only has one spot for a 120mm fan, right at the back for exhaust. But I just realized I could swap that out for a 120mm intake fan with a dust filter, then let the power supply pull air out of the case instead. My only worry is the GPU running hotter since the side panel only has a tiny 15x5cm mesh vent. Honestly, I don't need to crank everything to Ultra at 1080p right away anyway; I can just dial back the settings until I grab a better case. .
Anthony Hayes82 said:I just checked my current case and took some photos. I could actually fit the GPU if I moved the HDD all the way down to the bottom. I’ve got about 300mm of clearance, and according to the specs, the card is 266.65mm long. As for the cooler, it might fit, but it's too tight for comfort—I have roughly 160mm of space and the cooler is about 155mm tall. So, I'll just scrap the cooler and the case from the budget for now and put that money toward an SSD instead. It'll be easy enough to swap everything over to a new case later when I upgrade the cooler at the same time.

My motherboard is absolute garbage right now, so I’m trying to figure out what kind of CPU and GPU combo wouldn't be a total waste of time to slap onto it.
Current setup

Zalman CNPS10X Extreme

8GB RAM
MSI Geforce gtx 560 ti twin frozr III, 1GB
Samsung 840, 120GB
XFX 850 w Pro
Thermaltake Chaser MK-1
Razer BlackWidow
Everything works perfectly. Only the SSD is still under warranty; everything else is out of warranty.
thanks

Too late, I already pulled the trigger and paid for this through the 😵future.

1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, AM3+, AMD 970 SB950, 4x DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866
1 x AMD FX-Series X6 6300 3.5GHz,14MB,95W,AM3+, FD6300WMHK
1 x DDR3 8GB (1x8GB) Kingmax, 1600MHz, non-ECC, CL9.0, FLGG
1 x Sapphire R9 280 3GB OC Dual-X, 3GB GDDR5 384bit, 28nm
1 x Seagate 1TB HDD, Serial ATA III, 7200 rpm, ST1000DM003

Basically, everything here is an upgrade. Stronger CPU, way better GPU. You could toss in another 6 GB of RAM to hit the Core i7-4770K level or some other tinkering, but this feels like the sweet spot for balance. 😉
EDIT: Even if you push the budget slightly, you can fit the Core i7-4770K and 8 GB of RAM.
Adam Moore3 said:Is that cooler really that bad? I think you could definitely pull at least $2,500 for it on eBay—maybe even more if you're lucky. Look, if someone tried building a PC with similar specs today, they’d be looking at roughly $1433. That’s about 60% of the price, which makes it $867. If there's still a warranty left, maybe you can squeeze out a bit more. That $3,200 the OP mentioned? Yeah, no way you're getting that in your wildest dreams, but $2,700 is a fair ballpark. You list it for $3,000 and hope for the best, but don't hold your breath for 😉

Turns out there's no misunderstanding here. You check the score and see exactly where you stand. No point arguing; it's like saying my dad is tougher just because a test proves he is.
