Live traffic updates on Google Maps? in IT Support ·
That is exactly it.
Now, there is one thing I still cannot wrap my head around—how on earth are they actually pulling this data?
I heard a rumor that these traffic updates are actually reflecting the conditions from the previous day.
If that is actually how it works, then the whole system is fundamentally flawed—and here is my reasoning.
For instance, I was planning a drive from Monterey to San Francisco, and Google shows me yesterday’s report—which was perfectly clear—so I head out today only to find myself stuck in a complete nightmare with a massive line stretching 19 miles
miles long.

I've been watching the news all day—they’re showing live updates on the traffic situation over in San Francisco—but for some reason, I just can't get it to pull up on Google Maps through my browser
Does anyone happen to know anything about this? Any idea how I can actually get it to display for me?
Annoying pop-ups in Chrome? in IT Support ·
I have been absolutely losing my mind lately dealing with Chrome.
Every single time I open a new tab or navigate to a website, these random pop-up windows just start jumping all over the screen.
It makes no sense—especially since I already have AdBlock installed to prevent this sort of thing.
Does anyone have any idea how to kill these interruptions for good?

Setting up automatic backups in IT Support ·
Could anyone recommend a piece of software that would handle automatic backups from a specific folder directly to a USB flash drive?
I am not looking for a scheduled task—no, nothing set to run at a specific time of day—but rather something more immediate. I need it to trigger a backup the very moment any change is detected within that folder.

Well, I managed to track down this software and it works flawlessly
—really quite impressive, actually. My only real stumbling block occurs once the broadcast kicks off; I'm struggling to figure out how to locate the URL for the stream on my Mobile device so that I can share it with the people I want to watch it
.

I just finished updating my YouTube app, and finally—thank goodness—that Go Live icon showed up, so I kicked off the stream!
The thing is, I’m a bit lost... where exactly is this being broadcast? Which specific YouTube link should I be looking at?
Could someone please walk me through the next steps? This is my very first time attempting something like this, and I want to make sure I haven't missed anything crucial.

So here I found exactly what I was looking for—but it’s just not working properly
I opened the YouTube app on my Mobile device and followed the instructions to the letter, yet something feels off
At the 43-second mark in the video, it says to tap the camera icon, and then two options should pop up:
-Record
-Go Live

That is precisely what I attempted to do, but I am only presented with one choice—Record
The Go Live option simply isn't there
Does anyone happen to know what the issue might be?

No, I am not looking to upload a video
What I actually need is a live stream—meaning I want to notify people ahead of time that I’ll be broadcasting a specific Event (a birthday party) live on my YouTube channel
A few months back, I came across a YouTube link where some guy was streaming a grand opening ceremony directly from his Mobile device on his own YouTube channel
I think you see what I'm getting at

That just doesn't work for me—it forces anyone who actually wants to watch it to have an Instagram or Facebook account installed first.
What I mean is, it should be accessible to absolutely anyone using a standard web browser on their computer.

I’ve been noticing more and more people lately using their Mobile devices to Go Live for various different types of an Event.
I’ve actually been feeling quite inspired to give it a shot myself—really dive into the world of streaming—so I was wondering if anyone might be able to recommend a straightforward, user-friendly app that would work on my Android 5.1
Issues converting MKV to MP4 in IT Support ·
I’m still struggling to wrap my head around the logic here—what is even the point of these MKV to MP4 (or MKV to AVI) converters if you can just manually rename the file extension? If all I need to do is swap the suffix so my device recognizes the movie, then why do these tools exist at all?
Honestly, I feel like I’ve been throwing away precious hours of my life—sometimes an hour or two per movie—converting files that would have worked perfectly fine with a simple rename.
Issues converting MKV to MP4 in IT Support ·
I honestly can’t believe it—on a colleague's suggestion, I simply swapped the extension from mkv to mp4 and now it plays perfectly on my TV (even the audio sync is spot on).
It makes me wonder why anyone bothers with those clunky conversion programs—which, let’s be honest, can drag on for an hour or two—when just renaming the file solves the entire headache in a single second.
Issues converting MKV to MP4 in IT Support ·
I just finished converting an animated movie from MKV to MP4 using "Adobe video converter," but now the audio and video are completely out of sync—it’s a total mess
Does anyone happen to know what might be causing this issue, or perhaps you could suggest a more reliable converter?
Of course I kept the filename identical—if I hadn't, the subtitles wouldn't have synced up at all.
Look, there actually is an American translation available—I’ve downloaded it myself—but honestly, the subtitles are a complete mess and don't match the dialogue at all.
I gave Sublight a shot as well—only to find a single subtitle file, and wouldn't you know it, it was also stuck at some ridiculous 25.000 FPS.
The issue I'm running into is that I can only find one subtitle file—an American one—and it claims to be at 25.000 FPS
However, according to the movie metadata, the actual frame rate is 23.976 FPS
I've been scouring the web, but I simply cannot find a single download link for a version of the film that actually runs at 25.000 FPS
Is it actually possible to convert a subtitle file from 25.000 down to 23.976 FPS?
I gave it a shot using Subtitle Workshop, but honestly, it’s a lost cause—the timing is completely out of sync with the video.
At first, I manage to get the initial subtitles perfectly aligned, but as the movie progresses toward the end, they start lagging further and further behind the action.
It’s a frustrating cycle—if I try to recalibrate everything to fix those final lines, then the middle section becomes a total mess.
Getting these things to line up correctly feels absolutely impossible.
I truly can't wrap my head around who handled the subtitling for this release—what on earth were they watching when they timed these?
I’ve had quite a frustrating afternoon—I actually went ahead and downloaded that old movie "Corrina Corrina" (1994) specifically for my mother, only to discover that the one subtitle file available was completely out of sync with the actual footage
. After that little debacle, I spent some time scouring the web to see if there might be a version with a proper translation somewhere, and I thought I finally struck gold here
. Well, I downloaded it, but it turns out the file was just the movie itself—no subtitles included at all
. Does anyone happen to know the best way to grab the correct subtitle file for this one?
Skype won't log in on Windows XP? in IT Support ·
Look, I already mentioned my suspicions that this thing is total junk—but honestly, everything is running flawlessly except for WhatsApp.
I just finished getting Windows installed a few days ago, so it’s practically fresh.
Every single website loads perfectly, Facebook works without a hitch, and really, if I could just get WhatsApp up and running, this whole setup would be golden.
