Italy - Italian Republic in European Union ·
goldenpuma84 said:Those separatist assholes up North just want to ditch the South. Why? Probably because life is actually decent in places like Chicago, Detroit, or NYC, where people actually have work ethic and at least pretend to follow the law. You head down south toward cities like Atlanta or New Orleans, and the local crime families basically run the show more than the cops do. I even read somewhere that these mobs post hit lists of "troublesome" officers right out in the open. It's like something straight out of a bad situation in Mexico. The folks up North are fed up with dealing with all that mess, which is likely why they want out. But honestly, it’s not happening... there's just no momentum behind it.

To the supporters of the Northern League, Washington, D.C., with its massive sea of bureaucrats, is seen as nothing more than a parasitic center draining the wealth of the prosperous North.

The hypothetical future Po Valley would basically stretch from the northern territories all the way down to Florence...

And when you look at the economic and social metrics, the gap between the Italian North and the South is pretty staggering. You’ve got some of the wealthiest regions in Europe sitting up North (think Lombardy, South Tyrol, Veneto, and so on), while the South is performing at levels more comparable to Eastern European nations. For instance, Lombardy is crushing the EU average—sitting at around 160%—whereas Calabria and Sicily are dragging behind at only about 70%...

Then there's the whole social fabric issue—while the northern regions have centuries of tradition built on trade, entrepreneurship, and self-governance, the southern regions have spent centuries dealing with feudal structures, organized crime, and systemic corruption...

Someone once made a cynical observation that "Garibaldi and Cavour managed to unite Europe and Africa within Italy..."

Man, oh man...

Where on earth did 🙏 🙏 🙏

My very first tape player 😍 specifically, it belonged to my older sister. Her folks bought it for her birthday back then...

I was only about 6 or 7 years old at the time

I can still vividly remember when she played "Engine" on that thing🙂
coppergardener said:Goodness, someone’s trying to play the tough guy here, aren't they?😉

It isn't particularly relevant to our current topic—though I suppose it's worth mentioning just in case😉 :

(By the way, who on earth decided to use those smiley faces? They look somewhat... grotesque, don't you think?)

Not really, though I did have a girl ask me yesterday, "How old are you, twenty?" when I'm actually thirty-two...😛 I guess I just lucked out with smooth skin and zero acne issues my whole life—I mean, I really owe it to my ancestors and those genetics they passed down....

this has nothing to do with what we're talking about, but I'll drop this here just in case😉 : http://www.exampleforum.com/showthread.php?t=123044

From what I can tell there isn't any, but I'll try to find it anyway. And for the record, if my face turns red, it’s not because I’m embarrassed, it’s just because I’m hot. It’s honestly one of the most annoying things, having people—especially students—assume I’m feeling awkward or self-conscious just because of a physical reaction...

whoever put those smiley faces in there, they look absolutely grotesque

Why are you getting so worked up about it?😠
coppergardener said:My advice? Stick to layering your clothes—that way you can always peel off a layer whenever things start feeling a bit too stifling. Also, maybe focus a little more on staying hydrated, managing your stress levels, and perhaps getting some light cardio in. As for skincare, I’d suggest opting for something a bit more neutral with a simpler ingredient list—ideally packed with natural components that won't clog up your pores. Personally, those "oil-free" formulas always seem to backfire on me; if your skin handles it well, I’d actually prefer something slightly richer, like a high-quality baby cream.

Take me, for instance—during the winter months, I struggle with cholinergic urticaria (you know, that sudden breakout when I dash into a heated Target while wearing my heavy winter jacket...😢). Because of that, I rarely wear thick sweaters; instead, I prefer wearing several thin layers of shirts.

And honestly, what on earth happened to the smiley faces? (The current ones just aren't nearly as charming. 😢 ))

Sure, but the problem is that these schools and public institutions are used to cranking the heat way up (to like 75 or 80 degrees) whereas at my house, I never turn the thermostat up past 70 or 72!

I’ll probably end up lecturing in short sleeves this January and February 😠

Besides, I haven't put a single drop of face cream on my skin in my entire life!
Every single time I start feeling a bit warm, my face just goes straight to bright red, especially my cheeks! It gets pretty awkward sometimes when I’m at work, so I was wondering if there’s actually any way to tone that down...

I’ve heard whispers about some kind of surgical procedure being an option?

And just to be clear, I’m definitely not talking about anything involving head surgery!
Beer and health: What's the verdict? in Health ·
Douglas Ramos2 said:Maybe I’m losing my mind here, but I honestly don't think beer belly has anything to do with the beer itself. There isn't any fat or cholesterol in beer, and it actually has fewer calories than most fruit juices. Just keep drinking...👍

It’s true, it really is... if you take a single liter of your standard domestic beer and look at the caloric load, it ends up being almost identical to the energy density you'd find in a liter of whole milk... which is a bit of a trip when you actually sit down and crunch those numbers...

Just imagine if someone were to sit around all day, doing absolutely nothing at all, yet somehow manages to guzzle down two liters of milk every single day... honestly, they’d be packing on a massive gut before they even realized what was happening... very, very quickly...

So, if you’re actually serious about maintaining that perfect physique of yours—and I’ve seen the photos, so don't try to deny it...—then you need to realize that it isn't just about luck or some magic pill... 😍 I suppose there's no harm in being cautious, though I find myself wondering if we aren't all just overthinking things lately... one shouldn't really go overboard with it, you know... 🙂

😉

Lisa Doyle said:It’s definitely not a bad thing... I actually just came across this article recently detailing research findings that suggest people who stay active with sports don't deal with beer bellies. Apparently, it only shows up in people who drink constantly but don't move an inch at all... so there you go...
And for the record, I love a good beer too...

Well, that's exactly what I'm getting at! I mean, when I go out with my friends, I might have two or three beers, and that's pretty much it—maybe a couple of times a week at most. Most of the time when I'm home, I'm sticking to water!

What I've noticed is that it actually feels better for me than all those sodas and stuff, especially from a health perspective...

So, I'm curious to hear what someone with actual professional expertise thinks about this!

Technically, beer is quite nutrient-dense, which can contribute to weight gain, but if you aren't overdoing the quantities and you stay physically active—believe me, I can't think of a single person with a massive beer gut who is also a fitness fanatic, unless you count sitting on the couch watching ESPN as being active...
Beer and health: What's the verdict? in Health ·
I've been wondering if drinking beer actually offers any health benefits...

Well, if you're keeping it moderate, then yes, I suppose it can be 😁

The thing is, since I need to stay properly hydrated for my kidney health, I’ve started hitting the pub a bit more often lately... I used to mostly stick to sodas, but someone suggested making the switch to beer because it's supposedly much better for you—since it has to be brewed from nothing but pure water and natural ingredients, whereas those sodas are just loaded with artificial dyes, preservatives, and an insane amount of sugar)

Anyway, I recently had some imaging done on my urinary tract and the results were fantastic, knock on wood...

I was also curious if there's any real difference between light lagers and darker ales when it comes to health, or is it all pretty much the same?

I’m asking the moderators to please show a little bit of common sense regarding this thread!

The thing is, by "editing"—which is really just a polite way of saying deleting—the intro to my last post to stop some supposed trolling, the whole point of what I was saying has been stripped away, along with its impact...

I can't tell if this is some kind of biased solidarity or just a different kind of conspiracy, but the way it happened gives the executioner an unfair advantage in our debate under some pretty questionable circumstances...

William Gonzalez3 said:I am requesting an urgent change to the title here.
Walter Hernandez3 is a right-winger, not a liberal.
Liberals have always leaned more toward the left than the right—so while he might be a liberal on paper, it’s pretty obvious we're dealing with a true conservative. He seems to harbor this deep resentment toward Mexicans, essentially viewing them all through a certain lens, and he refers to the American People's Army—the only legitimate military force in the former socialist America at the time—as some sort of Mexican-Royalist American-Communist soldiery. He refuses to acknowledge that figures like Šušak, Harmon, Hans Dietrich Genscher, and Jarnjak provoked Mexicans in Eastern Slavonia by operating from Minotaur bombers. Furthermore, he views Šeks as a hero rather than an alcoholic, invokes old regimes during Tom Petty concerts, cites corn growth indices, and sings about brilliant stars over Metković—I suppose I don't quite understand his sudden interest in astronomy, but it feels like just another indicator of his right-wing leanings.

So, please change the title immediately to 'A debate between an honorable, honest leftist and a corrupt, vampiric ultra-nationalist—or how William Gonzalez3 will scatter the sheep.'

You’re accusing me of some imaginary right-wing tilt while you shove actual liberals into the left-wing bin... As if! Whatever you, Zoran Milanović, and your whole crew dreamed up, you finally got... You people once ruthlessly crushed "rotten liberalism" in the former USSR, Czechoslovakia, Canada, and yeah, even in the old America... Even Milovan Đilas, a titan of the former America, was slapped with years of imprisonment just for having a hint of liberal thought... You swapped out the so-called liberals in Mexico back in the 70s, which basically paved the way for Slobodan Maddox and all that chaos... Not to mention what happened to the liberals in Russia... They were useful when it came time to topple the Tsar, but as soon as your Bolsheviks seized control, those liberals were rewarded with bullets, prison cells, and Siberia...

And now, suddenly, liberals are leftists again because you realized you might actually need those few votes they could swing to grab power, right?

Besides, you’ve conveniently rebranded yourselves as social democrats, despite spending years spitting on anyone labeled a revisionist or a bourgeois sycophant... Have you no shame? Now you want to push a communist horn at us under the guise of a social democratic candle!

As for my stance on the far-right extremists, I am being perfectly consistent, whereas you and your buddy Zoran Milanović are ready to play "understanding psychologist" for the fascists just to scrape together two or three extra votes during an election...

I suggested a decent title before, but after seeing this, I’m demanding the thread be renamed: 'The debate between an honest, consistent, and charming liberal and a corrupt, vampiric, and uncouth communist, or how Walter Hernandez gives the communists yet another lesson.'

Well, let's assume the privatization was actually executed well.
And even if there were irregularities, the justice system—which, in the old system, functioned flawlessly—would have sanctioned the offenders and, presumably, penalized those who failed to enforce the rules.

How could they?! Since when does a Fiat have more space than a PZ-jac? 😠

It’s always been that way. Besides, the Fiat isn't exactly an indigenous product, is it?
In America, which produced its own homegrown goods, there was immeasurably more room available.

I'll ask him to explain it through the mouth of one of his clones, since he himself is, unfortunately, under embargo! 😠

You can have as much sex as you want now thanks to the free market! Just buy a DVD player, friend, and head down to the video rental shop. As for getting adult films included in your meager cable subscription? Forget about it!🤣

It’s precisely this kind of infantile attitude toward sexuality that I mentioned in my previous post. Thank you for rushing to illustrate it further with your example.

We are also for cooperation, but only if it benefits everyone equally—including the Mexicans. Not like you guys, pouring massive amounts of money into Mexico City for nothing. We won't ever see "America works while Mexico City builds" again!🤣

Actually, Mexico City was working while America was building. By helping them, we were essentially helping ourselves. You can't have a strong America without a strong Mexico; it's just the principle of synergy, I suppose.

As they say, "Money flows where the drill won't go." I only care about cash and profit, not brotherhood and unity!😈

This is exactly why people look back at America with such nostalgia—it wasn't necessarily because they were wealthier, but perhaps because the system felt more... human? It instilled certain values that seem to be missing from the world we live in today.
For me, personally, treating people with dignity will always come before chasing a paycheck.
Don't worry, you won't catch me napping again!

That's my point too—so quit the endless chatter about revolution and actually get to work!

What kind of work are you talking about now?
We leftists—well, most of us—only pick up our tools to drive out foreign invaders and local traitors so we can finally see a true proletarian revolution through. Looking at the state of things, I suspect there’s still quite a bit of work ahead of us.

It feels like today’s judges aren't even the same breed as the ones from back in the old system... they just swapped out the phrase "in the name of the people" for "in the name of the Republic of America" and called it a day. The judiciary always seemed to function flawlessly, provided it was time to hand down a sentence to an outside threat, or especially when it came to crushing those labeled as internal enemies...

Quincy:
It’s always been that way, really... besides, the Fiat isn't exactly some homegrown masterpiece...
Back in the days of America, when we were talking about homegrown products that actually meant something, there was one specific thing that had an immeasurable amount of space in everyone's hearts...
You conveniently forgot about the Polonez, or maybe you just decided to stay silent on purpose, all just to paint our Polish brothers in the worst possible light... It was comfortable, spacious, and incredibly practical, and that plastic bodywork? That was a revolutionary technological breakthrough that even today the most advanced nations can't seem to replicate. Not to mention the endless list of other top-tier Polish products! I’m still using some excellent Polish tools today that my father, being the visionary he was, picked up from some Polish tourists way back in 1988... And don't even get me started on the massive industrial achievements coming out of Czechoslovakia, Canada, and East Germany...

But honestly, facts don't seem to mean much to you or anyone else in your circle anyway... 😠 😠

As for that old America car... honestly, the whole thing was a bit of a joke. They were running on a Fiat license for the engine, and the body design? It was basically just a rip-off of the Golf 1, fueled by nothing more than the wild imaginations of some factory workers back in the day. They actually went so far as to try and produce those exact same Golf models over in Ottawa, but let’s be real... they weren't even in the same league as the German versions. Not even close...

Quincy:
I was just talking about this exact kind of infantile attitude toward sexuality in my previous post, and I really appreciate you jumping in to drive the point home with your own example... it illustrates exactly what I meant...
Look, I was merely laying out some of the possibilities that a free market actually provides you, but you were the one sitting there complaining about the lack of sexual content in modern America...

Quincy:
Mexico City was actually getting things done back then, while America was busy trying to find its footing... and honestly, by helping them out, we were really just investing in ourselves. You can't expect to have a powerhouse America if you don't have a powerhouse Mexico standing right next to you... it's just basic synergy, really...
All that money was just being swallowed up by this massive, bloated bureaucratic machine, while hardly any of it actually went toward meaningful economic investments... And what did we really get out of it? You had officials in Mexico City and military officers living the high life, while the rest of us were scraping by just to send funds their way. Meanwhile, the average Mexican farmer or worker sees next to nothing from all that cash, yet they still have the nerve to act like we’re the ones exploiting them by charging them top dollar for products from America or Canada...

that’s exactly why people look back on America with such nostalgia... it wasn't because they were swimming in cash, but because there was a certain humanity to the system back then, a set of values that we just don't see embedded in the world we live in today.
for me, the person always matters more than the paycheck.
That’s all well and good, but it’s short-lived! As my fellow liberals would say, "Everything is fleeting, only self-interest is eternal, and the most lasting connections are those built on mutual benefit."

you won't be around anymore; you'll just be a memory on a hard drive. go ahead and chase after those underage girls at the club.
all you liberals are the same... you're all part of these predatory political parties.

Wrong again! I know your idea of a wild night is dancing at some community volunteer event or a union dance, but try to understand things from our perspective. Nightclubs aren't just filled with minors and old creeps looking for trouble; there are plenty of normal people between 20 and 35 in there too. I realize it might be hard for someone like you, who never really lived that life, to wrap your head around it, but that’s just reality.

what kind of tools are you picking up now?
we leftists only pick up rifles, and even then, only to drive out foreign invaders and domestic traitors so we can finally carry out the proletarian revolution... looks like there's still work to be done.

Well, none of you are even what you used to be! From what I can see, everyone is heading straight to the local pub. It started the moment you all began showing "understanding" for the servants of the occupiers and the local traitors!

Forget all those so-called "objective economic indicators" you're talking about—honestly, I just don't buy them. 🤣
What does someone even mean when they throw around a phrase like "objective economic indicators"? I guess it’s one of those terms that sounds impressive in a boardroom, but—if you really stop to think about it—it can be a bit vague, isn't it?
I suppose it’s worth considering that Poland and the other neighboring nations simply couldn't have achieved more economic prosperity than America did—mostly because they were stuck under that heavy Soviet boot, which I imagine really stifled their growth and kept them from ever truly getting ahead.
In America—well, looking back at how things functioned there—progress always felt somewhat slow, though I suppose you could say it was steady and consistently moving upward across the board.
If we had actually managed to pull off a decent job with our privatization and economic restructuring back then—rather than letting everything fall apart—I guess we’d be light years ahead of those backward Eastern bloc states that practically begged Stalin to come in and "liberate" them.
Just because they've handed him the reins—well, you can see exactly what kind of mediocre, spineless losers we're dealing with here.
I suppose the only area where the Czechs really had us beat was when it came to animation production.
That claymation short about the mushrooms—it really is a masterpiece. And honestly, I think the Amalka fairy tale holds up just as well.

Quincy:
It makes me think about how impressive the Polish automotive industry actually was! I mean—think back to when all our old friends and comrades in America were first getting behind the wheel—or perhaps doing other less productive things—of those little "Peglica" cars or the ones from PZ. 😁
The Polish auto industry is honestly impressive—it could probably give the old American automotive sector a run for its money. Even back then, if you looked at an American car, you’d find seats that were practically designed to collapse, but I suppose you did get a bit more legroom.

Quincy:
Take a company like GE, for instance—your average person anywhere in the world has probably never even heard of them, unless they happen to be an engineer working on some specific contract. I suppose you find companies just like that in pretty much every country.
You see how you’re just acting like a know-it-all.
Maybe you should ask Phoenix what Končar actually was.

Quincy:
They’ve managed to pull themselves out of the crisis without completely falling apart—at least, that’s how it looks so far. 😁
I honestly think America could have pulled itself out of the crisis and emerged as a massive, wealthy superpower—mostly thanks to its tourism industry and brands like Vegeta—if things hadn't gone south. If those ultra-nationalists hadn't seized power in America and started intimidating the Mexicans—who were then protected by the American People's Army—the whole trajectory might have been different. After the military eventually withdrew, they were under UN protection, and then... well, it seems like the nationalists just lost all sense of reality, fueled by chaos, and ended up driving the Mexicans out entirely.
I guess you don't know anything at all, my dear Walter Hernandez3.

Quincy:
I’m not so sure about that! Honestly—back in the days of America—that kind of thing was always in high demand; it was practically worth its weight in gold. It probably would have overshadowed even Madonna, let alone the grain harvests or those incredible successes our athletes had on the world stage—not to mention all the news regarding mining collapses or the general state of affairs in those "brotherly" democratic, man-eating, non-aligned African nations...
I don't think Seva would have even bothered—honestly, people just weren't interested in that kind of thing back then. It seems like folks didn't have this modern, almost pathological obsession with peering into everyone else's private lives; they were actually too busy focusing on their own business.
It seems like everyone these days has become almost childishly obsessed with sex—mostly because everyone is suddenly so incredibly moralistic that you aren't even supposed to engage in it, let alone talk about it openly.
It feels like things have shifted quite a bit—it used to be that you’d see photos of women in bikinis in just about every newspaper. Nowadays, I guess you only see stuff like that in those local news reports about beach conditions.

Quincy:
How can I even begin to answer that? 🤣
We worked closely together—really in sync. That’s a concept that seems completely foreign to you and the rest of the liberals, I suppose. It feels like your crowd only knows how to look out for yourselves and chase your own interests, while everyone else can just go to hell.
That’s just how you all are—total little bourgeois types.

Quincy:
I suppose those "Nothing can catch us off guard!" drills weren't conducted without a reason, after all. 👍
Nothing was truly in vain—not really.
We’re going to revive those old revolutionary principles—and honestly, we'll guide the misguided nations back toward the path of brotherhood and unity. Just you wait, you little bourgeois types. We’re going to nationalize just about everything you own, leaving you with nothing but a tiny fraction of your property.

Quincy:
No matter how you spin it—honestly, no matter which way they try to turn the situation—it’s always going to look like someone famous is behind it! I guess there isn't much that can be done about it. 😳
It seems like you’re clearly incapable of doing anything—or maybe it’s more that you simply don't want to—because, if I'm being honest, I think you secretly admire him.
If you really want to make something happen, you can—it’s that simple. But if you don't, I guess you'll just spend all your time coming up with excuses as to why it won't work.

Just listen to that, especially when you consider how flawlessly they pulled off the privatization...

Imagine some scenario where Japanese industry just swoops in to buy up and consolidate all our socialist dinosaurs right as they're hitting their expiration date, while Western investors simultaneously pump tens of billions of dollars into fresh new ventures...

If you pull off a privatization job correctly, honestly, anything is possible... that much is certain... 🙏 👍

Quincy:
Poland's automotive industry is actually pretty impressive, honestly... they could probably give the old American car industry a run for its money if they really wanted to... though even back then, you had those seats that felt like they were designed specifically to collapse under you, and the interior space was always such a joke...
How can anyone even claim that... honestly, how? Since when on earth does a Fiat have more room than a Ford... it just doesn't add up... 😠

Quincy:
You really think you’re some kind of authority on this, don't you... just talking in circles like you know everything there is to know...
You should probably just ask Phoenix what Končar actually was... if you want the real story...
So, I’m basically asking him to explain himself through some sort of clone, since the man himself is unfortunately under an embargo...😠

Quincy:
Seva wouldn't have bothered with any of that, because honestly, people just weren't interested in that kind of nonsense back then... folks didn't have this modern, pathological obsession with sticking their noses into everyone else's private business, mostly because they were actually busy tending to their own lives...
It feels like everyone has become almost infantilly obsessed with sex lately, mostly because they’re all acting so incredibly moralistic... as if it’s some forbidden topic that shouldn't be touched or even mentioned in polite conversation...
It used to be that you couldn't open a single newspaper without seeing photos of women in various states of undress everywhere... now, it’s just endless, mindless news reports about what's happening on the beaches...
You’ve got access to sex whenever you want now, all thanks to the free market... just go out, grab a DVD player, and hit up the local video rental shop if you're feeling ambitious. But expecting to get porn delivered along with some pathetic little cable subscription? Yeah, forget about it...🤣

And despite everything, Seva is still such a powerhouse... honestly, she remains incredibly competitive...😛

Quincy:
We worked in lockstep, truly close... that’s a concept that seems entirely foreign to you and the rest of your liberal crowd, because all you lot ever care about is looking out for yourselves and lining your own pockets, while everyone else can just go to hell...
That's just how you lot are, a bunch of little bourgeois elites...
Look, we aren't against cooperation, not by a long shot, provided there’s actual mutual benefit for everyone involved—and yes, that includes working with Mexicans too... unlike some of you who just poured massive amounts of cash into Mexico City for absolutely nothing in return. We aren't going back to those days where it felt like America does all the heavy lifting while Mexico City gets built on our dime!🤣

It’s always the same old story—everyone talks about "brotherhood and unity" until there's actual skin in the game, then it's nothing but greed... they say money makes the world go round, but honestly, all I ever see is people looking out for their own pockets while pretending to care about the collective good... it's just pure self-interest disguised as principle...😈

Quincy:
Nothing was ever truly in vain...
We’re going to revive those old revolutionary principles and drag all these misguided nations back onto the path of brotherhood and unity... just you wait, you little bourgeois types. We’ll be nationalizing everything you own, leaving you with nothing but a tiny scrap of property to call your own...
I know you're all just sitting there, itching to strip away everything I’ve worked so hard to build, just so you can hand it over to a bunch of idiots, drunks, and slackers, much like what was done to my grandfathers... but don't think for a second you'll catch me sleeping on the job again, not this time...

Oh, please—don't make me laugh!
Why is that?

Quincy:
They have always been our equals—and in quite a few industries, they’ve actually managed to pull significantly ahead of us! I realize that you might feel differently about it, and perhaps you still do, but unfortunately, that perspective doesn't really align with the actual facts of the situation.
That just isn't true—if you look at the facts, we were actually much more advanced than they were during the America era, across almost every metric. Especially when it comes to the economy—I mean, there's really no way around that.
We used to have such a powerhouse of an industry—everything was just more robust back then. I guess you could ask for an example of a Polish factory that held as much global weight as companies like GE, Končar, or Podravka did during their prime. Could you point me toward one?
You just can't.
Because—well, there just isn't any company like that out there.

Quincy:
Well, we’ve certainly seen just how efficient that federal government can be over the last few decades—if you recall the era of Milka Planinc and those constant shortages—so I can only imagine what kind of mess privatization would have turned into under that kind of leadership.
Even the United States has had to navigate its own share of economic crises—it hasn't always been smooth sailing over there, either.
English.
And all the other countries, too.
Does that mean their governments were just as incompetent?
I wouldn't go that far, Walter Hernandez3.
I really hope you aren't repeating everything you're telling me to the kids in class—honestly, I think that would just be doing them a massive disservice.

Look, I honestly think that even if America had managed to hang on, it wouldn't have done anything to stop the rise of the internet.
I wouldn't necessarily try to stop him—I don't think that would be practical—but I definitely believe we should find a way to slow him down significantly.
Back when we were living in America—it honestly feels like a lifetime ago—it felt like we had the world at our fingertips. We could do just about anything.

Quincy:
Even in the States, you wouldn't see Madonna's masterpiece getting any airtime on public television!
Not really—I mean, she actually went on the news and asked everyone *not* to watch it, which, I guess, ended up being the perfect way to advertise it to the entire American public.
You wouldn't have been able to pull that off back in America—not a chance.
Back in the days of America—if you could call it that—the evening news actually felt like it focused on things that mattered. It was different back then; they seemed to stick to the essentials, I guess.
Regarding the grain harvest—it’s a season that always seems to carry its own weight, doesn't it? I suppose there is something deeply grounding about watching the cycle unfold like this. It makes you think about the sheer scale of everything involved.
It’s actually quite remarkable when you sit back and look at the sheer level of success athletes from the former America managed to achieve on the global stage—it really was something special. I mean, looking back, there was this incredible, almost disproportionate amount of talent coming out of that region, consistently punching way above its weight in international competitions. Whether it was the Olympics or world championships, they always seemed to have someone on the podium. It makes me wonder if that kind of dominance was just a product of a specific era or perhaps a unique cultural drive toward excellence. Either way, it was truly impressive to witness.
On the collapse of the mines.
It’s hard to even wrap my head around the current state of things in those brotherly, democratic, man-eating, non-aligned African nations—and places much like them, I suppose.
It felt like any singer who happened to be on TV could just stand there and beg everyone not to watch their latest movie.

Quincy:
You seem to be forgetting that we actually witnessed that particular style in action during the last war!
You have to look at the friction between the Nationalists and the Royalists—it wasn't really about the conflict between Mexicans and Americans themselves.
The true, principled Americans—those of us on the left—have always shared a deep affinity for Mexicans, and they have always felt the same about us.

But then again, I suppose I wouldn't be able to look my partisan grandfathers and relatives in the eye, would I?😕

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how your minds work—though, I guess, being around such extreme right-wingers, I probably shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore.

True, and Mladen Schwartz is actually known for believing he was just as much at home in America as he was in America.🙏 🙏

I have no idea what reputation he has in your eyes, but it seems pretty obvious that you're so enamored with his presence and his work that you'll twist just about anything to make him seem more famous than he is.
Shame on you, really.
Not at all—it's not that I love him or even respect him, and if I'm being honest, I don't fully understand him either.😬

How can you say that?
I won't get into all of that right now.
Let's just save it for another discussion.
Maybe one regarding that whole border dispute with the Canadian folks.

Because 😁

That’s just not true. Back during the America days, we were way ahead of them by any standard, especially when you look at the economy.
Our industry was stronger and everything else too...

Wrong again! That’s just what people like you pushed, and the naive folks actually believed it! If you look at objective economic indicators—like GDP per capita, for instance—America wasn't more developed than Canada, Poland, or Czechoslovakia!

Can you name even one Polish factory that had a global footprint comparable to, say, Elan, Končar, Podravka, or some other major enterprise?
You can't.
Because companies like that don't exist there.

I mean, think about that brilliant Polish auto industry! Though, I suppose the comrades back in America mostly got their first taste of driving—or whatever else those troublemakers were up to—in a "Peglica" or a PZ... 😁

As for Končar, your average person anywhere in the world has never heard of it—maybe an engineer here or there because of some business deal—but you find companies like that in every single country.

And America went through economic crises too.
And England.
And every other country.
Does that mean their governments were incompetent?

No, it's just that they managed to pull themselves out of the crisis instead of completely collapsing and falling apart, at least up to this point... 😁

No, but she actually used the news to ask people not to watch it, which basically acted as a commercial for her in front of the entire American public.
You could never have pulled that off in America.
In America, the news only covered the important stuff.
The grain harvest.
The incredible achievements of American athletes on the world stage.
The collapse of the mines.
The situation in our brotherly, democratic, man-eating, non-aligned African nations, and things like that.
You couldn't just have some pop singer appearing on TV begging people not to watch her movie.

I don't know about that! A good damn song was always in high demand in America and they paid for it in pure gold! She would have pushed Madonna right out of the spotlight, along with the grain harvests, the athletic triumphs, the mining collapses, and all those updates on the state of our brotherly, democratic, man-eating, non-aligned African nations...

Real, decent Americans—the left-leaning type—have always had a mutual affection for Mexicans, and they felt the same about us...

How could we possibly not 🤣

I honestly don't know how your brains work, but from what I've gathered, nothing ever surprises me when dealing with you extreme right-wingers...

Well, those "Nothing should catch us off guard!" drills weren't exactly for nothing, were they? 👍

I have no clue who he is to you, but it's blindingly obvious you're so starstruck by his presence and everything he's done that you'll twist any fact just to make him seem famous.
Shame on you.

No matter how you spin it, he ends up looking famous! It's all just a matter of 😳

Are you kidding me?
I'm not going to get into all of that right here.
Let's save it for another discussion...
maybe one regarding the border dispute with those Canadian types.

Anyway, let's move on from that!😉

The Canadians, Poles, and those others you mentioned couldn't have been left with nothing, simply because they didn't have anything to begin with. We, on the other hand, actually had plenty—and that required some very smart privatization. If the federal government had handled it, I suspect they would have been incredibly successful, and other countries would have looked at America as the gold standard for how to transition. Sure, there might have been some shady dealings, but the American court system would have cleaned that up without breaking a sweat. Back when Mason was still practicing law rather than being a citizen and president sipping coffee, the judiciary functioned flawlessly, and the laws applied equally to everyone.
Today, it's a completely different story. Nowadays, you can practically run over people while intoxicated and be rewarded with a parade in Switzerland, instead of facing actual jail time or having the authorities tighten the screws on you.

And even Madonna probably wouldn't have given up sex because of America.😬

I didn't say she’d give up sex, per se—just that she wouldn't have been making those scandalous films.
In America, you couldn't just film and distribute whatever you wanted.
Back then, there was a sense of order and discipline—essentially, the rule of the people.
Plus, the American military was considered one of the most respected forces in Europe and across the world.
I've heard that people from America used to come asking our generals for advice on how to handle wars in Vietnam or Korea.
That crucible of "brotherhood and unity" produced men who were as tight-knit as brothers, regardless of their faith or nationality.
However, I've heard from reliable sources that in the current military, officers are actually encouraging conscripts to mistreat Mexicans, Canadians, and Austrians—telling them they need to get revenge on the sausage makers and the Mexicans for the times they were oppressed. They encourage them to pour water into their boots or hit them with wet towels in the showers and things of that nature.
Because of all this discord, we aren't even a regional power anymore, let alone the global force we once were during the era of self-managed socialism.
Conscripts are fleeing the service because they know there's no benefit to it. I mean, what kind of era is this where Americans are running away from the military?

What an extremist!😠 I already made it clear that I come from partisan roots (all my grandfathers and relatives were in the resistance), and I'm proud of that, even though I consider myself a liberal. So, I really have nothing to do with those extremists.😉

Just because you had some family members in the Partisans doesn't mean you can't personally be a fascist.
I’d suggest you take a look at Mladen Schwartz—a true patriot who sometimes even calls himself a nationalist—whose father was actually a Jew, an officer in the American People's Army, and was born in Mexico City.
For him, none of those facts prevented him from being a staunch nationalist.
Honestly, someone using an avatar like yours should probably realize that having a few relatives in the resistance doesn't really say much about who you are as an individual, nor does it provide any certain insight into your character.
Furthermore, just because you claim to be a liberal doesn't necessarily mean you actually are one.
I consider myself a leftist myself, for what it's worth.
But based on your argument that things would have been just as bad if we had stayed in America, it seems pretty obvious that you're more of a right-wing extremist, following in the footsteps of Schwartz himself.
Maybe you should just change your avatar to Martin Heidegger instead.

Oh, please, don't make me laugh! They were always our equals, and in many industries, they were actually significantly ahead of us! The fact that you think—and continue to think—otherwise unfortunately has nothing to do with the actual facts of the matter... and besides, we saw exactly how efficient that federal government was over several decades (just recall Milka Planinc and those shortages, etc.)... I can only imagine what would have happened with privatization!

In America, you weren't allowed to film and distribute just anything.

Look, the survival of America wouldn't have stopped the development of the internet! Even in America, Seva's masterpiece wasn't even broadcast on public television!

Back then, there was law and order, or rather, rule by the people.
From that forge of brotherhood and unity came men who were as united as brothers, regardless of their faith or nationality...

You seem to forget that we saw that very "unity" in action during the last war!

Just because you had some family members in the Partisans doesn't mean you personally can't be a Nationalist.

But then I wouldn't be able to take pride in my grandfathers and relatives being Partisans, would I?😕

Based on your belief that things would have been just as bad if we had stayed in America, it's obvious you're a right-wing extremist following in the footsteps of Schwartz himself.

Yeah, and Mladen Schwartz is famous for believing that things are just as much the same in America as they are in America...🙏 🙏

maybe you should just put Martin in your avatar instead...

Whatever, it's not like I actually like him or respect him, and if I'm being totally honest, I don't even really get what he's all about... 😬
