They Live features one of the best scenes ever made. It’s such an original concept, and that legendary one-liner—"I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum"—is iconic.🤣
Halloween is a total classic. 😁 The direction, acting, atmosphere, music, and the smart script are all top-tier. It sticks to a simple story without overexplaining the villain, which honestly makes it even scarier. My only gripes are how predictable parts can be and the fact that those idiot producers churned out a mountain of sequels and a remake that basically gutted the vibe of the original.
The Thing is easily one of his best, if not quite his absolute peak (it's been a while since I sat down to rewatch it).
Prince of Darkness-great movie, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Strong acting, compelling characters, plenty of tension, and a killer soundtrack.
Vampires-fun modern vampire western. James Woods rules.😁
Big Trouble in Little China-probably my favorite of his.😁 The characters are hilarious, the action is great, the effects are campy, and the monsters and humor hit just right. Plus, Kurt Russell rules.😁
I just sat through it, and honestly, my initial gut feeling was right: the movie is garbage. The script is brainless. The dialogue is so bad it’s actually funny, and the lack of creativity is insulting—they basically just rip off scenes from the original. The characters? Total trash. Some are just irritating, others are impossible to care about, and half the cast seems to exist solely to be slaughtered. Even the kills aren't satisfying because the camerawork is shaky and distracting. That piece of crap Michael Myers gets way too much screen time, his new look isn't even spooky, and the whole idea of turning him into a Hallmark character is just retarded. It’s a pathetic remake. It isn't scary, it isn't fun, it's uninspired, and it's incredibly stupid. If they absolutely have to keep messing with this franchise, I’d rather they just shoot Halloween 9 instead of Halloween 2. Rating: 2/5
The first one was actually a pretty decent jab at horror movies back in the day. The second one is brainless, though that opening bit mocking The Exorcist is gold. The third one is just boring and lacks those edgy, twisted jokes. The fourth is a slight step up from the third, but it’s still packed with weak jokes and doesn't even bother parodying horror films.
Honestly, I started hating Scary Movie because it kicked off this massive wave of garbage parodies like Date movie, Epic Movie, and now this new 300 spoof is going to have such idiotic humor. Parodies used to actually be good.
Samuel Ortiz3 said:Look, I don't care what anyone says—this remake is better than the original. I honestly don't get why that other movie (the original, obviously) became one of those "greatest horror films ever" or whatever. To me, it’s easily one of Carpenter's worst efforts. The execution is just pathetic. Yeah, sure, it was low budget, but even a group of middle schoolers could have shot some of those scenes better. And the plot? Utterly pointless. I guess the only reason people care is because it takes place on John Carpenter's Halloween.
Alright, everyone’s entitled to an opinion. Honestly, I'm glad there are people out there who actually hate the movie.
BTW, John Carpenter's Halloween basically invented the modern slasher genre, which is why it's so famous. As far as the actual film goes, maybe it's a little overrated, but I wouldn't call it bad. The direction is solid, the score is creepy as hell, the killer is terrifying, the acting holds up, and Dr. Loomis rules 🙏 .The story is fine—don't expect any deep philosophical meaning here. Personally, I liked that they kept the killer's backstory vague; it made Michael Myers a much scarier, cooler character. Then, though, they went and ruined it later by adding that stupid subplot about him hunting down family members 😠 .
I’m sitting here wondering if the Saw series is actually going to outrun Friday the 13th in terms of total sequels. Also, is anyone else seriously expecting a spin-off where we get traps set in outer space?😁
I am seriously fed up with all these classic movie remakes. Honestly, they should just stick to remaking absolute garbage like Leprechaun instead of touching an actual masterpiece like Hellraiser. Looking at today's remakes, *The Hills Have Eyes* and *Dawn of the Dead* actually deserve some credit. As for the rest? Forget about it. 👎
cosmicraven2 said:Exactly! The first one was superior because it actually had some fun in it. Paul W. S. Anderson knows how to direct, but he can't write a coherent script to save his life. Even Romero's script for "Resident Evil" wasn't exactly a masterpiece. I'm just hoping they play it smart with part 4 and bring in Claire Redfield (Ali Larter was seriously good in "Extinction," even if her role was small and thankless)
I agree on Paul Anderson—he’s a decent director, but as a writer? 🙄 BTW, I’d much rather see the fourth movie based on the Resident Evil 4 game. Forget the zombies; give me those crazy villagers instead. 😁
I’m honestly getting sick of this Saw franchise. The first movie was decent enough, I guess, but nothing spectacular. As for the sequels? They're just unnecessary filler.☕
Halloween 6 starts off strong—it’s creepy, engaging, and honestly pretty fun for a while. But then the ending just hits the gas too hard. It rushes through everything, leaving the plot points I actually cared about completely unresolved and feeling totally pointless.
Look, this movie is strictly for the die-hard fans of Freddy and Jason. If you’re actually into their stuff, you’ll probably dig it. If you aren't? Then the movie is just going to be total shit.☕
cosmicraven2 said:You can't really expect much from the Resident Evil movies. The first two were total junk, though I have to admit, I’m dying to see the third one. Ninety minutes of mindless action and Scarlett Johansson mowing down zombies? That's a perfect night at the theater.
