But honestly, that silly woman with all those books... I only got past her by using a hint about which specific machine she was tossing them into . 🙄
If anyone actually cracked that part without any help at all, good for you... I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea that it might be the answer 😁.

The thing about this movie is that it's over twenty years old... I entered it without much thought and ended up being spot on... unless there's some recent remake out there that I haven't heard about yet 😕
I'm having a bit of trouble remembering: those three Cs, the woman who destroys books, those two quarters in the corner, the guy painting the train car, and those fathers with their kids... I'm not sure if there's anything else 😠
Except in one specific scenario... when I'm watching them at the theater, my back starts to seize up and my seat gets incredibly uncomfortable 🤣
But I suppose things have improved since those modern multiplexes with the plush reclining seats were introduced... it's definitely better 😁 Though, I must admit, I sometimes feel a bit of sentimental nostalgia for those old wooden seats 😬
Still, a stiff back or an uncomfortable seat won't ruin the experience if the movie is actually good!!! 🧐 🙂
You're Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty! You tend to be rather solitary and perhaps a touch arrogant at times. It seems you dislike being left out of social gatherings, and it might take you quite a long time to move past a slight. Heck, I suppose it could take me sixteen years just to recover from being excluded from a party! You also possess a significant temper and wouldn't hesitate to direct it toward innocent bystanders.
Wow... they hit the nail on the head... I really do hate it when I'm not invited to a party.😠 😁

Well, I am aware it isn't sci-fi... I was just commenting because someone mentioned it earlier in the thread...
I hadn't actually checked who directed it myself since it's been quite a while since I saw it... I only just noticed it was a West Germany/France production...
But then again, the director is Polish—would he be considered part of the Eastern Bloc, I suppose?😬
Though, I have to admit, when I first heard the title, I assumed it was some kind of adult film 😬
SPOILER SPOILER I spent most of the movie thinking... what an unpleasant woman Her Excellency is... I mean, who wears a dress like that if they're a man? Where on earth did they find him... you know... a genuine man 😁 SPOILER SPOILER
As for Possession by Andrzej Żuławski... Isabelle Adjani is stunningly beautiful, even in those scenes where she has blood dripping from her mouth... The end of the film is just... 😕 😁
Hmm... then there is that more recent sci-fi film, Avalon 🤔 I've attempted to watch it twice now, and both times I ended up falling asleep halfway through... 🤷 I suppose I should try one more time...
I own Kin dza dza and Letters from a Dead Man, though I haven't gotten around to watching them yet...
Cannibal Holocaust is incredibly brutal... especially during those scenes where they kill off that poor turtle or that creature that looks like a woodchuck (it hits harder because you can tell the effects aren't just CGI)... but still... and then there are the human killings (though, hey, I'm sure it's all fake... or maybe it isn't... haha 😲)... personally, though, it doesn't quite cross the line into total morbidity for me. I don't know... 😁
Anthony Davis6 said:I guess you could call it a prequel, though that might be stretching it a bit. Maybe? 😁I guess that movie is just as bad—if not actually worse—when it comes to being "enjoyable." I guess there isn't much to say about this one. It’s just... carne. You might have to dig around the internet a bit to find what you're looking for, but honestly? You’ll probably end up feeling pretty nauseous once you actually track it down. 👍
Wow... I wonder if things can even get more morbid than 😲 😁
Whenever I recall that scene with the blood spurting from the neck wound... and the brain on the table... Ugh!
Well, I guess all that's left is for me to go hunt down ''Carne'' and see for myself🍿
Masturbation, sex with meat, vomiting, self-mutilation...
And... that French film, I Stand Alone...
SPOILERS
...about that guy who just hates the entire world, beats his pregnant wife, and fantasizes about sleeping with his mentally ill daughter until he finally snaps. It’s all depicted with such brutal realism... Anyway, it's a good film, but incredibly difficult to watch... there are moments where you genuinely feel sick to your stomach...
wearytinker8 said:You really... actually, you don't need to bother watching "Schramm," from the same director. redowl90 is wondering how a 90-minute movie can be boring. Well, this one's only 60 minutes long, yet it feels like three hours...
Anyway, here are my TOP 10:
1. Lolita (1962) — a massive milestone in cinema history, sure, but try sitting through it twice...
2. Mean Streets (1973) — Scorsese has plenty of dull entries, but man, this one just drags...
3. Traffic (2000) — I think I fell asleep about ten times during this one.
4. All the President's Men (1976) — believe it or not, this documentary-style thing is ranked 57th on the AFI list of most suspenseful movies ever.
5. The Exorcist (1973) — hands down the most tedious horror flick in history.
6. The Conversation (1974) — compared to this, Warhol's "Empire," which is just eight hours of the Empire State Building, feels like a high-octane action thriller.
7. Ken Park (2002) — honestly, I was just screaming in frustration...
8. Dawn of the Dead (1978) — four people with enough ammo to take over the world, fighting off zombies who move at a snail's pace while 70s "Starsky & Hutch" style music plays in the background...
9. Magnolia (1999) — three hours of pure, pretentious self-indulgence.
10. The Crying Game (1992) — (SPOILER!!!) The girl has a dick! Is that really why we have to endure all that misery?
Aaaaaa... I honestly thought I was the only person on this planet who found that movie incredibly grating... usually, when I bring it up, people just fall asleep on me. 🙏
It was such a tedious watch... Last Days... OMG... Okay, fine... the pacing is slow... nobody actually talks... I get it, I really do... it's about Blake's final days... he's lost, detached from everything around him... slowly drifting toward death... I suppose they mumble the whole time because they can't manage a real human conversation with one another... but good grief, why does that bush stay in the frame for a full minute? It felt like an eternity... and what was with that damn Take That music video? (Though, perhaps that's meant to symbolize the decline of real music and the rise of boy bands, but did I really need to sit through the entire clip?)... Ughhghjjhjdf 🙂
I was practically praying for the character to die just so it would end... 🙄
The only redeeming quality in the film: "Venus in Furs"
EDIT : being Boyz II Men instead of Take That... 🙂
I remember once nearly getting into a huge argument with a close friend because I was trying to explain that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with showering or washing your hair while you're on your period...
She wouldn't listen to me... she just insisted it was true because her mother told her it was forbidden... and in her mind, that made it an absolute rule. 😳
Thinking back to high school, I remember passing out from menstrual cramps... just constant crying and vomiting... it was honestly horrific... 😢
Nothing really worked for me except for pain relievers... and even then, only if I took them the very second I felt something was wrong... if I tried to wait and see if I could tough it out... oh boy... 👎
Applying heat would have helped too... especially around my stomach and legs...
Over time, things haven't been quite as intense...
I'm on birth control now because of PCOS... but there is still some pain... though it's mostly manageable at this point...
Benjamin Foster said:In Islam, God didn't "forbid" women from praying; rather, it's viewed as a concession to make things easier for them, sparing them the requirement of prayer during the discomfort of menstruation.
I suppose that means if she wants to pray, she still can?
Larry Lewis2 said:Where in the New Testament does it actually say that women should be silent?🙂
Christianity is far too massive a movement to be free of parasites... there are so many different factions within the faith itself, like the Neocatechumenal Way or the Third Order, etc. What gets served up on CNN or in news columns—usually just a snippet of some sermon or a flash of someone's ego—is merely the tip of the iceberg. We shouldn't even talk about what lies beneath the surface. Because, at the end of the day, we are supposed to be talking about menstruation.
bluemason3😘 I'm not going to argue with you. I refuse.😍
Unfortunately, it does seem to say that—though I assume it’s more about things like maintaining silence in a place like a church.
I suppose there is an argument to be made that women should remain silent during meetings; after all, their role isn't necessarily to lead the discussion, but rather to be submissive, much like what is outlined in Leviticus.
If they truly want to learn something, I suppose they could just ask their husbands at home; after all, it’s generally considered improper for a woman to be speaking up during a meeting.
"When a woman experiences her monthly cycle, she should remain in her state of impurity for seven days; anyone who touches her will be considered unclean until evening. Anything she lies upon during her impurity becomes unclean, and anything she sits upon becomes unclean. Whoever touches her bedding must wash their clothes and bathe in water, remaining unclean until the evening." This is what is written in Leviticus.
And then there's all the rest... just constant talk about being "unclean" this and "unclean" that...
But I suppose, considering when these rules were first established, there weren't exactly medical textbooks or teen magazines 🙂 available to explain that menstruation is simply a normal, natural biological process. It seems a bit silly to label it as "unclean" or a sickness, but I guess it's somewhat understandable why they would write such nonsense back then...
The only sad thing is that even today, some people still try to justify these absurdities or push insecurities onto women regarding their own bodies...
Sometimes I think a little bit of isolation from them would be just what the doctor ordered, even if it meant camping out in a tent while on my period... Provided, of course, that I had a massive stash of chocolate with me 😉
