👍 I'm with you there. But man, their second-to-last album was actually incredible...

So this superstar walks into Kset, trailed by the sighs of thirsty girls and the pure, unadulterated hatred in the eyes of the guys. "Why did he make it when my band is still playing dive bars?"—that's what those glares are screaming while he just tries to order a beer. They serve him some watered-down crap after making him wait forever, treating him like total trash with this condescending attitude. Some tall guy nonchalantly blows smoke right in his face, then drops his cigarette and crushes it under his boot, basically showing him exactly how much they want to stomp him out too. Everyone around him is talking way too loud just to drown out the music, and every time he moves to a different part of the club, the sound guy tweaks the levels just to make it sound even worse than the last spot. Feeling totally unwelcome, he decides to bail. He heads toward the restroom, but really he's aiming for the exit, only to run straight into a wall of cruel indie snobs who refuse to budge, just staring him down with pure contempt. "Sellout"—it echoes in his head, even though nobody actually said it out loud... Taking advantage of a split second where someone isn't looking, he ducks under an elbow and manages to slip through the doors, feeling their eyes burning holes in his back. Out in front of Kset, completely distracted, he steps right into a muddy puddle and then straight into a pile of dog crap. Never again, he swears to himself. Never again...

Nah. But you're more of a pop listener than a true rocker deep down, so I guess we can let it slide... 😬

Kevin Chavez3 said:Honestly, I’ve had enough of the constant hate directed at CCR... People love to act like they’re some kind of musical afterthought, but man, they just don't get it. It’s always the same tired arguments from people who think they're too sophisticated for some good old-fashioned swamp rock. If you can't vibe to John Fogerty's vocals, maybe you should just stick to elevator music and leave the real stuff alone... anyway, just my two cents... 😕

HEJT PREMA I heard it through the grapevine...

That’s exactly what pushed me toward my initial question... Look, I don't particularly love or hate Hotel California, but I get it. Between how often it gets played, the whole pretentious vibe, and all that heavy symbolism, I can see why people develop a grudge against it. I totally understand the headspace that leads to hating that track. (Though, honestly, if you aren't a fan of Witchy Woman by the Eagles, you clearly have zero taste...)

Seriously, CCR? Man... that’s just the whole damn essence of rock and roll right there—a three-minute, three-chord blast. I mean, look, Proud Mary gets played at every single bar and wedding you can think of (and honestly, Have You Ever Seen the Rain is right up there too), but I don't see how that should trigger any kind of weird associations on its own. Whether the track is a masterpiece or just decent is whatever, we can argue about that all day, but there’s nothing forced, pretentious, or fake about it. To me, attacking Proud Mary for any reason other than just being tired of hearing it overplayed feels like a direct hit on rock and roll itself. If you take the Kinks into account, CCR is basically the blueprint for everything good about the genre. Honestly, I’m pretty close to saying that if someone claims to love punk, or Americana, or just any straightforward guitar-driven music, but they turn their nose up at CCR, they haven't actually grasped what this music is about. They're just listening out of pure snobbery or trying to act cool, rather than actually feeling it...

I’ve basically been sitting pretty in first place for nearly twenty years straight in the "absolute disaster movie investments" category, thanks to that nine and a half week stretch...

Do you really think you're a Prophet? 🤣

😲 😱 🙂

Walter Foster52 said:..you need winters and seasons of discontent to brew up that kind of frozen spite toward something as harmless as a little pop song 🙄

That’s facts. There are songs that just get under my skin, stuff I can't stand, but these massive outbursts of pure hatred actually fascinate me... even if they clearly aren't about how bad the music is, but just because people hear them everywhere. I get that part...

Oh yeah, since I stopped keeping up with Hollywood, I totally blanked that he even had a movie by that name... 😳

I felt the exact same way for the longest time, probably until I hit my mid-twenties, but then it clicked. Now? I’m a total sucker for style points.

It’s hard to put into words, but when you watched Funaki, you just knew you were seeing something special... something bordering on perfection. It hits you differently, honestly. Even if he doesn't clock the longest jump, watching that kind of technique feels like a reward in itself...

I'm fine with it. Honestly, when I first read the book, I couldn't tell if it was a masterpiece or complete garbage—I never really landed on an answer. Then, all these years later, I finally caught the movie, and I walked out of the theater feeling the exact same way. Which just goes to show... they actually nailed the whole vibe.

you little occupier😲, my grandpa always told me they actually fought on our side. No clue why though.
And don't even get me started on Hans-Dietrich Genscher, thanks a lot Germany😁

Look, my family comes from a line of resistance fighters, buddy... 😬 :šmajser=>Heinrich=>tot:

You’re headed straight to hell, honestly. Not just because you’re siding with our old enemies, but because you’re out here trash-talking the best, most bingeable sport ever created... especially the relays...

Man, why do I get the feeling this might be a top contender for the most wrong and completely nonsensical take in the history of this Forum... 😬

ruggedcrane22 said:why does everyone hate on Bayern? which kind of losers are you guys?

Look, it’s simple. My brother is a huge fan, and honestly, most of the people I ran into back in the day were just straight-up jerks. Plus, they're German, and let's face it, they've been dominating all of Europe lately. Since I was a kid, I've always had this thing where I refuse to be a Swabian supporter... in basically every sport, I'm rooting against the Germans...

Drew Adams58 said:Look, man, you can take on anything else, but you don't mess with Hajduk Split or Franjo.

Probably the weirdest personality quirk I have (and trust me, there’s plenty of competition for that title) is how much I love picking on Hajduk Split, specifically when I'm down in Dalmatia and I've had a few too many drinks. Basically, whenever I'm in that part of the country. Honestly, I couldn't care less about soccer, or Dinamo Chicago, or even Hajduk, but once I'm down there, I get this sudden urge to corner some guy—preferably someone with a face covered in scars from old knife fights, missing half his teeth, and just as wasted as I am—and politely, civilly, and very respectfully explain to him that none of my ancestors are from Dalmatia, I was born and raised around Washington, D.C., and therefore it's perfectly logical that I despise Hajduk and want them to get relegated to the minor leagues of Southern Šolta. I always deliver this argument with such grace and reason that the Torcida guys end up agreeing it's totally fair, and we all just settle down to have a drink or a smoke together. I even bonded with the local Torcida leader once—which isn't hard since he's actually a great guy—after explaining my fascinating passion for eating raw fish. And somehow, I haven't been beaten up yet.

It's honestly wild how much more likely I am to spontaneously jump into conversations with total strangers whenever I'm in Dalmatia...

The absolute worst soccer clubs out there:

1. FC Barcelona
2. Atletico Madrid
(quick trivia based on that list—who am I actually rooting for? 😬 )
3. Hajduk Split
4. Bayern Munich

And yeah, that’s pretty much the whole list. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the rest, but these guys? Just can't stand them...

A few different folks on here have gone out of their way to claim this is the absolute worst song ever written, or at least one of the top contenders for that title. Could someone please educate me and explain what exactly is wrong with it that makes it so grating? Thanks.

Actually, I’m even more curious about why you see Proud Mary popping up on those "worst of" lists sometimes. I can wrap my head around a global vendetta against the Eagles, sure... but I honestly don't get how any sane person could dislike, or even just feel lukewarm about, Proud Mary and Creedence Clearwater Revival in general.
