What have we learned from movies? in Movies ·
Most women, after they're done in bed, just roll out of there wrapped up in a duvet or some kind of blanket

If the main guy is driving, say an old beat-up Chevy Bolt, he’s gotta have at least 300 HP under the hood... plus he'll be heavy, like 2,000 lbs, just so he can ram a Cadillac right off the road

If you need to, the car can pull a hard stop using 1.2-inch brakes

Look, if you don't have a gun and you take out the bad guy, there's zero point in looting his weapon. It's the same deal if you've only got one magazine and there's 40 enemies left to kill

When you're staring down a massive horde of zombies, always grab the shotgun with 8 shells. Doesn't matter if you've got five boxes of ammo sitting right next to you

If some supernatural freak starts chasing you, split up. Do it by design or by accident, I don't care, just get apart

If someone close to you turns into a monster... let them kill you. Or let them turn you into one too... just let it happen

It's always gonna come down to picking the blue wire or the red wire

Everybody knows who James Bond is. And everyone knows that everybody knows it... except for Bond himself, and maybe the villain every once in a while

But hey, we couldn't have that—we needed fancy convention centers, bridges, and other nonsense instead...

just patching holes, like I said
Bill Clinton plays this game of hide-and-seek, and honestly, it’s pretty transparent: when things are cruising along, Clinton is front and center, shaking hands with reporters and dominating the news cycle all day long. But the second things hit the fan? He vanishes... Suddenly, you’re just hearing from the Vice President, and she’s the perfect shield. She doesn't hold any heavy-hitting cabinet positions, so journalists can't really pin her down or launch a direct attack without looking silly... she’s just the VP, after all. Then, once the dust settles or some "fix" is finally found, lo and behold, here comes the savior, Bill Clinton, stepping back into the spotlight.

His economic playbook is the exact same brand of nonsense—just plugging holes with more debt. No actual long-term strategy, no vision... just moving numbers around to make sure everything looks okay on paper for a moment.
Here we go... now they're starting to cash in on the emo crowd too. Most of it is total garbage, honestly.

Donnie Darko is a masterpiece, but there’s absolutely no business for a sequel...

It doesn’t even matter how they evolved into nocturnal predators—they just are. They found a habitat in some massive, uncharted cave system and spent thousands of years honing the exact skills needed to survive there. The movie doesn't bother overexplaining it or getting all scientific, either. There aren't any scientists or whatever coming in to study them; it’s just a few recreational spelunkers who got stuck in the same hole with them. That’s the whole story. The film doesn't try to go deep with philosophy or pseudo-science, so why bother breaking your head over whether it's scientifically plausible? It's pointless...

Honestly, the movie is a damn good horror flick. The "villains" are top-tier because they don't have some grand motive; they're just driven by pure instinct. Unlike zombies, these things are physically superior within their own territory. That total lack of human logic makes them terrifyingly relentless. To be real, it’s been a long time since a movie actually scared the hell out of me as much as this did, and considering how many people here haven't seen it, that's saying something 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Jason Jones2 said:I just heard that the company testing those young economists offered them a four-day certification course immediately after the results came out. They promised an international certificate for just $1267, a detail they conveniently left out of their press releases...

🙏 Alright, so first they play dumb to make everyone look stupid, then they try to hawk a training course just so people can actually learn something. Honestly, I’m starting to have serious doubts about their research data...
Jason Jones2 said:This article is useless.

Out of five different assessments meant for economists, they decided to focus on the least important one—general culture—and blew it way out of proportion.

I’d much rather see how people performed on the core economic principles, accounting, English proficiency, or Excel skills, which were barely even mentioned. That’s where you actually see if an economist knows their stuff.

Instead, we get this nonsense about who George Bush is. I don't care about politics, so this whole thing is a waste of my time.😁

Man, anyone can answer questions about Bush, but what about things like Federal Reserve policy or Wall Street history?...

The piece even mentions they're even worse when it comes to the actual technical stuff.

Look, the article admits the sample size is tiny, but still... it’s like these people live in a total bubble. It’s honestly mind-blowing how someone can grind through sixteen years of American schooling just to end up this clueless 😲

I can't even decide if this person should be fired or just given a massive raise

Maybe they should've just polled for opinions on Elon Musk or Paris Hilton instead? 🤷

Besides, he isn't the first character in Japanese anime to be portrayed as a bit slow; it's practically a trope. He only truly demonstrates his intelligence during combat, which feels completely natural since, after all, he is a Saiyan.

He’s not actually stupid, though. Honestly? He’s pretty sharp and wise when he needs to be. He just doesn't give a damn about anything else... if you'll excuse my French... except for food. 😁

His stomach is basically the only selfish part of him. 😁

Brandon Kim96 said:My apologies if this topic has already been brought up—I certainly wouldn't want to clutter the boards by repeating something that’s already being discussed!

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this one. Let me try to frame it like this: I am a massive dragon ball fan—it was actually the very first anime I ever watched—and I've always felt it had such a compelling story and a huge cast of genuinely great characters. So, seeing someone just talking absolute major league bullshit about such an absolute classic... it really rubs me the wrong way.

First things first—if you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you really ought to go watch the trailer:
I’ve been spending quite a bit of my downtime revisiting some of the older discussions around the series—specifically looking back at how certain adaptations handled the core essence of the source material—and I stumbled upon this video again. It really brings back a flood of specific memories regarding the massive gap between what we expected from the legendary work of Akira Toriyama and what actually made it to the big screen. When you look at the sheer scale of the original vision—that sense of cosmic stakes and the internal growth of characters like Goku—it becomes painfully obvious why certain cinematic attempts felt so hollow. It wasn't just a matter of poor special effects or questionable casting; it was a fundamental misunderstanding of the soul of the story. You can't just take a masterpiece and strip away its heart, expecting the audience to stay engaged. It felt less like an adaptation and more like a complete departure from everything that made the fans fall in love with the journey in the first place. It’s one of those things where, even years later, you find yourself reflecting on the missed opportunities. There was such potential there, yet it somehow managed to miss the mark entirely. It’s a fascinating, if somewhat frustrating, case study in how *not* to approach a beloved franchise.

I don't know about all of you, but if you ask me—personally—I’m convinced this movie is going to be nothing more than some major league bullshit.
Here are just a few reasons why Dragon Ball could never be adapted into a live-action movie and still actually feel like Dragon Ball:

1.)Akira Toriyama And then there’s his art style—truly a subject all its own.
I’ve come across this specific debate all over the internet more times than I can count—it seems like everyone has an opinion on whether it was a mistake to cast a white actor as Goku instead of someone of Asian descent. Personally, I just can't bring myself to agree with that line of thinking. When you look at the source material, Akira Toriyama didn't exactly design him to fit into any specific human racial category—after all, Goku isn't even human, he's a Saiyan! At the end of the day, Akirin's unique art style doesn't really lean into specific earthly ethnicities, so trying to apply those real-world labels to his character feels a bit misplaced to me.
Another thing worth noting when we discuss Akirin's unique artistic style is Goku's hair—it’s just such a defining characteristic of his entire look. Honestly, trying to replicate those gravity-defying styles in a live-action film is a massive uphill battle; you simply can't capture that specific aesthetic on screen without it looking ridiculous, and since those hairstyles are essentially the soul of his character design, it's a huge hurdle to clear.

2.)Goku.
It’s honestly such a shame that they cast someone so completely wrong for the lead—someone who should have been cool and brought that specific sense of humor to the role, yet ended up being totally out of place. To make matters worse, the movie actually has Goku attending high school... High school! Seriously?! How on earth could Goku ever function in a classroom setting? The guy is essentially a lovable dummy—and frankly, that simple-mindedness is exactly what makes him so iconic and complete as a character. In the film, he’s already quite grown up while training under Master Roshi, but anyone who has actually watched the anime or read the manga knows he was just a little kid during those sessions. Out of pure respect for Dragon Ball, that certain flamboyant actor from this movie just doesn't feel like Goku to me at all.

3.)Bulma.
There are some guns in the movie—honestly, I don't even think I need to elaborate further on that point... (and before anyone asks, no, the hair color has absolutely nothing to do with it either).

4.)Dragon Ball..
If I caught everything correctly from that trailer—and I usually do—it seems like those Dragon Balls were actually forged by about seven sages or some kind of ancient council to act as a defense mechanism for the country against an invasion??? 😕 This was never actually mentioned—not in the manga and certainly not in the anime—but the truth is that Kami is the one who created the Dragon Balls.

5.)So, I have to ask—has anyone actually seen Krillin lately?
It’s honestly such a shame—where on earth is Krillin? You have this guy who has been fighting right alongside Goku through the entirety of both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, yet he’s nowhere to be found in this movie. It’s a massive oversight. On top of that, they left out Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu too... just completely missing those core characters. And then there's the decision to include Master Roshi—who, if I'm being perfectly honest, bears absolutely no resemblance to how he actually looks in the series.

So, I’m curious—what are your actual thoughts on this movie? What are you looking forward to, or more likely, what are you dreading? To be perfectly honest, back at the start, I was actually holding out hope that they would just never make it—that it would remain unfilmed forever. But unfortunately, it looks like that day is coming, and we'll all have to face the reality of seeing that absolute disgrace of a film playing in theaters across America.😢

Look, let's get one thing straight right out of the gate... Goku isn't stupid. People love to act like he's some kind of moron just because he doesn't care about social norms or whatever, but that's a total misunderstanding of how his head works... He’s got a different kind of intelligence, a combat instinct that most people couldn't even wrap their brains around if they tried. Calling him dumb is just lazy analysis... It's major league bullshit... 😠 He’s just being a little rude... 😁 Completely innocent and totally chill...

Look, this movie can't ruin DBZ for me. I don't even view them as the same thing. The animation itself is phenomenal... we'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing turns out. I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't end up churning out some absolute garbage designed specifically for American teenagers...

Honestly? Knowing how far off it is from actual history kind of ruined the whole experience for me. 👎👎

I felt the exact same way after watching The Flintstones and realizing humans and dinosaurs didn't hang out together, and they definitely didn't have pedal-powered cars, remote control TVs, or vacuum cleaners back in the Stone Age...

I just couldn't get over it... 😱

I had a gut feeling this one was going to be a dud—like a cheap knockoff of *The Crow* just showing up out of nowhere—but man, these reviews are hitting harder than I expected. We're looking at a 5.5/10 on IMDb and a pathetic 😲 15% 😲 over on Rotten Tomatoes
.

Has anyone actually sat through this thing? Is it really that much of a disaster???
I remember when this list first dropped on IMDb; people were losing their minds over it, but honestly? It’s absolute garbage.

For me, the biggest historical disaster on here has to be: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109813/

It’s all based on Earth elements, and honestly, the power behind it is absolutely devastating. From what I’ve gathered, Vegeta was pretty much the only one who managed to walk away from that mess in one piece.
Beyond that, I honestly can't say if anyone else actually got hit by it.

It feels to me like we’re looking at sometime around March or April.
It would be pretty awesome if they actually decided to follow through with a sequel focusing on Nappa and Vegeta.

Buu was taken out using that one move, where every single person on Earth poured their energy into it.

Remember when Nappa totally leveled all of New York City during that one ridiculous scene? (Pretty sure it was NYC, at least that's how I remember it.)

And that old creep? He’s legendary. Honestly, if they had just thrown him into the mix, the whole movie would have been a straight-up comedy.
I'm on the same page regarding what we're hoping to find out. It would be pretty cool if they actually delved into his backstory—I’d love to see him mid-fight with that blonde hair and gold aura flashing on screen.
I’m guessing we won't see any of that planet-shaking destruction during the fights in this movie. Honestly, that would actually be pretty cool.

Honestly, if you look at the actual scale of power here, the Avengers is way more devastating than a Kamehameha. There's just no comparison.
Looking at the trailer, it looks like he's trying to pull off an Avengers, but honestly, there’s a chance it could just be a Kamehameha.
I was watching the trailer on mute, so I didn't even catch whether he actually yelled out the Kamehameha or not.

It was definitely Kamehameha, and that too. The Avengers is done above the head, it's much bigger and takes a while to charge up all that energy. Besides, Kamehameha is his signature move...

There isn't some secret trick... they usually set things up with a 70-30 or 60-40 edge. The only thing you really have to watch out for is someone dumping a massive amount of cash right before you, just so you end up catching the fallout after them. But honestly? The house always wins. Even when everything is totally transparent, like at a blackjack table or a roulette wheel in Vegas... so imagine how it goes when everything is rigged from the jump.

It’s this little flick starring Van Damme, and honestly, the critics actually loved it. We're talking a 7.9 on IMDb and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Pretty damn interesting...
