The pharmacist isn't obligated to hand it over, but we shouldn't be penny-pinching over stuff like this.
When it comes to the essentials, I always pack them for my shifts. You never know when a fever is going to hit you out of nowhere or when you'll just feel like crap. I throw in nasal drops too, because anyone who’s dealt with a stuffed-up nose knows how impossible it is to get any sleep. Look, I’m not trying to be arrogant here, but honestly, some people earn it. You can try to explain things to them nicely, but it's a lost cause.
Kyle Lee7 said:a) Almost always, because they are in the building where I've lived since I was five years old. Everyone there knows me, and they're often willing to let me grab something without a prescription upfront because they KNOW I'll bring the script by the next day (this obviously applies to my regular medications; they wouldn't just hand me something totally new if I walked in asking for it for the first time).
b) Yes
c) Huh? I mean, shouldn't everyone working there have completed pharmacy school?
d) Quick and clear advice/recommendations, but above all, I just want them to have what I came in for.
e) Waiting in line, especially during flu season, or when they don't have my specific medication in stock.
f) A 9, refer to point e.
As for other pharmacies, I've had both great and somewhat less-than-great experiences.
There was this one pharmacy on an island we visit; the woman was incredibly friendly and eager to help, but her final advice was actually *not* to go to the clinic, even though my condition was clearly worsening. She had this negative view that they’d just jab me with injections that she claimed were "very harmful." Look, lady, I know they carry risks, but I also know my medical history makes me a chronic patient, and I wasn't about to gamble with an allergic reaction to an insect sting that might pass in three days for someone else but could land me in the hospital.
On the flip side, I had a wonderful experience with a pharmacy in Ozalj. After two or three different places told me the product I needed was out of stock due to a shortage, I called them. A very kind woman (her name is Jane, and I'd like to thank her again here) took it upon herself to call around for me. She quickly found out where they had it in stock and even offered to order it for me so it would be ready tomorrow morning if I couldn't make it in.
Third example: a late-night emergency pharmacy. I was losing my mind from a bladder infection, having just arrived back from a trip, and I already had to head back out at six in the morning. It wasn't my first time dealing with this, so I knew exactly what I needed. I told the woman just to give me the meds—that I'd leave any ID (driver's license, credit card, insurance card, whatever) and bring the prescription in later. But it was a hard "no." No, no, and no. I had to go to the ER. Okay, I get that they have strict rules, but I was dead tired in the middle of the night and had to go to the ER, wake up the doctor on call who gave me a pale look for waking him up over a bladder infection, wait for him to scribble a script and go back to sleep, and then I had to head right back to the pharmacy to get... that.
Personally, I have zero patience for stuff like this. As much as I try to be polite and helpful during the day, I turn incredibly blunt and standoffish during the night shift. People seem to think working nights is like working a gas station pump, so they think they can stroll in at 2 AM asking for multivitamins or hand cream. It drives me crazy.😠
Regarding Novocain, I wouldn't dispense it either, nor would I touch any other antibiotic without a doctor's order. A patient claiming they've used it before means absolutely nothing to us pharmacists.
I'm sure Novocain ended up being necessary in the end, but people have become way too entitled when it comes to prescription-only meds. They get incredibly unpleasant when you refuse to give in.
And honestly... I don't get how you even dared to wake up an ER doctor for a "simple" UTI. 😲 You could probably blame the pharmacist on duty for pushing you to take that leap.☕
Billy Joel. It’s not like anyone's perfect 😬
If your lymph nodes are swollen, you’re probably dealing with some kind of infection. If this hasn't cleared up on its own by now, just go see a doctor.
If I had to pick a recent movie, I’d go with (500) Days Of Summer), directed by Marc Webb
Not bad for a directorial debut. Honestly, it’s actually pretty great. 👍
I went in with way higher expectations because everyone was hyping it up as this hilarious comedy...but honestly? It was just a few cheap jokes I can't even remember now, and the whole thing dragged on forever.
Alexander - I was expecting an epic historical masterpiece, but what I got was basically lemonade. This is easily the biggest letdown of the decade. I honestly don't get how someone who's supposed to be a legendary commander and conqueror can turn out such a pathetic movie, all while bragging about how many years they spent working on it. Oliver Stone 👎
Lisa Miller9 said:I can't even get through Forrest Gump once. I've tried multiple times, but I just can't do it. That little simpleton Tom Hanks and his whole "life is a box of chocolates" thing drives me crazy. Honestly, I'd rather watch the Battle of the Mississippi three times in a row than sit through Forrest Gump. That was the first thing that came to mind.🙈
Yeah... Forrest Gump. I really don't get the hype behind that movie at all. 🤷
Watched it once and I'm never touching it again.
Her new cover of The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" is actually pretty good. Give it a listen if you haven't yet 😁
Look, like people have already pointed out, she isn't exactly pushing the boundaries of vocal technique. But honestly, since she’s not much to look at (let's be real), it actually makes the compliments about her voice hit harder. People are hypocrites—they never expect someone who looks like that to have such a beautiful voice. That’s basically the secret to her "success."
I put "success" in quotes because, unfortunately, right now she’s just a project designed to squeeze as much money out of people as possible.
I’m not exactly a huge fan of American cinema, but I noticed nobody has mentioned Golden Year from 1992 yet. Personally, I thought that one was pretty decent
To movie was just mediocre, though honestly, I wasn't expecting much. Look, I get that it’s a tribute to all the victims, and I respect that, but where was the actual artistry?
1. The production design is a mess. It feels more like a gritty street gang shootout than the fall of a city of 35,000 people.
2. The whole thing is supposed to be about Edward R. Murrow, yet his character barely shows up and manages maybe ten lines of dialogue before disappearing again.
3. The acting is fine; I actually have no complaints there.
4. The script is incredibly thin, with only occasional flashes of strength—like that interrogation scene between the journalist and the military police officer. A movie dealing with this kind of subject matter should hit you hard emotionally, but for me, it just fell flat.
5. The ending is pathetic... a total letdown.
I really hope some gutsy director takes on this topic in the future and delivers a legitimate, dark war drama.
This has to be some kind of trash if I’m suddenly dying to watch it.
Mitch 🙏🙏🙏
This thread is absolutely draining me 😬
Look, I think if you're drinking pure water—not that tap water filled with limescale and other junk—it isn't going to wreck your system just because you went slightly over what your body needs to function. Our kidneys are smart enough to handle the heavy lifting for us when things get excessive 😁
You just have to be prepared to hit the restroom a few extra times throughout the day to flush out the surplus 👍
It’s probably itching... which means you need to boil all your clothes and bedding. Slather yourself in Benzyl benzoate twice a day for five days, waiting about 20 minutes between applications. For anything you can't toss in the wash, just leave it out to air out for two to three weeks.
I dealt with those little bastards a few months back. Doctors kept sending me for endless tests—allergy panels, this, that—only to eventually point me toward a skin fungus analysis. And there they are, digging tiny channels into the top layer of your skin, keeping you wide awake all night long. Just thinking about it drives me crazy; I'm still pissed about dealing with incompetent doctors and everything I had to endure because they couldn't get it right the first time. 😠

I mean, if there isn't any chance to die out hunting or something, then some kind of natural selection process has to exist, I guess. ☕
I'm with you on this. If someone watches all the anti-drug campaigns, listens to every rehab success story, and sits through every gritty Hollywood movie showing exactly how much a life can spiral, yet still decides to pick up a needle or whatever else—well, honestly, who cares? Human stupidity really doesn't have a ceiling.
Can I actually pick this up at a pharmacy without a prescription?
I've broken out in this weird rash all over my body, but my doctor couldn't give me a solid diagnosis until I get some lab work done. She prescribed some lotion to help with the itching, but honestly, it didn't last long and wasn't very effective. Does anyone know a good home remedy to take the edge off the itch? It’s not so intense that I’m losing my mind, but it gets pretty irritating at times.😁
