Wait, since when is Pariz Perzija a thing? 🤔 😬
Look, I have to say, as someone who absolutely can't stand being sappy or
cheesiness, that track (Take You Home) is easily one of the most romantic songs I've ever heard. It’s so unlike Turner's usual style—this almost symphonic backing paired with that classic narrative lyricism (so typical of him!) about meeting a girl at a death metal show. She doesn't look like the type to go to those shows at all, and she ends up being the total opposite of Turner... partly because of their different tastes, and partly because of that "high French culture" she was raised with. But hey, he'd still take her home anyway! 😁
There are only maybe two or three love-themed tracks on the whole album. The rest is super socially conscious, protest-heavy, and occasionally feels almost anthemic, which is a pattern you see in pretty much every one of his solo albums.
I suggested this album specifically because it was the one stuck in my head the most. I actually didn't really discover Turner until his commercial radio hit broke through: The Road from the album Poetry of the Deed. If anyone's interested, you can check out his formula with something slightly later like England keep my bones, or maybe Glory Hallelujah, which was blasting everywhere during our summer break back home... I can't quite remember if it played at the conservatory too, but I think it did. Like Ashley Grant66 says, what a party! 🙂
