The mods are totally overlooking the PDF section for Sci-Fi and fantasy horror.

There’s this one thread with over 10,000 pages filled with people swearing at each other and light trolling, yet everyone keeps complaining that the sub is being neglected. It's the "George R. R. Martin: A Song of Ice and Fire" thread.

Basically, it's an ad, which is against the rules here.

There's plenty of stuff like this floating around, I just can't pull anything specific up right this second. Might have to dig a little deeper.

My mom’s stressing about this too.
Samuel Morgan40 said:They probably moved you over to the pregnancy section because cervical mucus tends to discharge right before labor—so, honestly, your situation likely has nothing to do with that. It’s perfectly normal for things to come out looking stretchy or even a bit "globby" during ovulation every now and then. And please, don't go running to the doctors for every little thing. You're only going to scare yourself more if you keep trying to diagnose yourself with every single illness you stumble upon online. 😉

If you haven't had any sexual intercourse recently and you're noticing this cheesy discharge—honestly, it’s perfectly normal, and I really think those two things can exist independently of one another. It is entirely possible that you're just dealing with a standard case of Candida.
I was thinking about asking my mom to take me to the gynecologist—since I’m only 17, I guess she still needs to make those calls—but she hasn't even made it home from work yet. To make matters worse, I just noticed this discharge and, honestly, I’ve started panicking a little bit. For now, I’m just asking purely for informational purposes, I suppose... just trying to figure out what this could possibly be so I can at least feel somewhat prepared for when I actually talk to a doctor.

😬

Well, here we go. I suppose it’s time to begin. Let's see what this actually looks like once the gears start turning—though, knowing my luck, things might get complicated before we even settle into a rhythm. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, shall we?

It was just this thick, white discharge—something I only noticed quite suddenly, out of nowhere, I suppose.
Is it really that urgent to go see the gynecologist? I mean, I guess it depends on what’s going on—but if you're asking me, it feels like one of those things where maybe you should just weigh your options first. Not that I'm saying don't go, obviously—just, you know, if it isn't an emergency, there's usually no need to rush out the door in a panic.
I suppose you’d also be sitting around waiting for your mother to drive you to the gynecologist—even though you didn't bother making an appointment yourself—despite the fact that you're seventeen. Honestly, at your age, you could easily just go on your own, much like plenty of younger girls do without any drama.

Well, due to a complete lack of hot water, I haven't actually washed myself in two weeks—not that anyone asked.

Look, could you please just stop trolling? Seriously. 😠

Got it. I'm ready to go. Just send over the posts whenever you're set.

Alright, let's get this show on the road. What have we got?

I just suddenly noticed this thick white discharge out of nowhere.
Is it really that urgent to rush to the gynecologist?
Honestly, I’d probably end up waiting for my mom to drive me to the gynecologist even if I hadn't made an appointment ahead of time. But let's be real—you're 17. At that age, you can totally just show up on your own, just like plenty of younger girls do without making a whole production out of it.

I just got back from the West Side. I asked my mom to pick something up for me, but she told me there's no way I'm getting anything unless I get pregnant first. Apparently, they literally taped a notice to our front door about it.

Seriously, man, give the trolling a rest. 😠

I'm not trolling!
What if a girl hasn't even had sex, but she's still getting this thick, white discharge with a nasty smell?

That’s what I’m dealing with right now. Since I’m 17, I’d need to ask my mom to take me to the gynecologist, but she isn't back from work yet. I only just noticed the discharge and started panicking. For now, I'm just asking for some info so I know what to expect.

Also, because we've been without hot water, I haven't really been able to wash properly for two weeks.

How does it unconsciously fail to grasp linear time? How is it not bound by the physical limits of our own bodies? What’s its syntax, really? In what language is our inner self actually communicating? And then there's the whole idea that recent studies suggest our universe is holographic in nature, which might offer some sort of explanation for those intuitive flashes and...

Whatever. A spark has to fly eventually. And it's definitely tethered to reality.

Sandra Morgan2 said:Of course it sounds ridiculous to you! That's because you clearly don't understand what intuition actually is. To you, some vague gut feeling must be tied to astrology or something. Since intuition is actually a legitimate field of psychological study—and since you seem interested in it—maybe try doing some actual research before jumping to conclusions. Otherwise, you're just being as silly as you think I am.

Cheryl, intuition isn't just knowing something out of thin air without any stimulus. By definition, intuition is perception filtered through the subconscious. Just because something happens subconsciously doesn't mean there wasn't a stimulus; it doesn't mean you're pulling facts out of a vacuum. If something is unconscious, it doesn't mean the trigger didn't exist.

For example, you notice something suspicious, but then you immediately forget about it. But that "cut" hasn't disappeared. It stays in your subconscious. Then, when you encounter a situation later on (one that relates back to what you saw), you get an immediate sense that something is off. Your mind remembers that suspicious detail, even if you can't consciously access the memory itself.

The astrology and magic comment was a bit clumsy. I wasn't being serious.

Claiming you know you're pregnant two minutes after sex is just a lucky guess. Even your subconscious wouldn't know that, so it can't be intuition if we're defining intuition as perception via the subconscious. Your subconscious has to receive a stimulus first, even if you aren't aware of it or don't remember it.

To have an intuitive realization about being pregnant, a stimulus has to occur. That usually happens a week after sex during implantation. For heaven's sake, fertilization can happen while you're sitting at your desk at work, a few hours after intercourse.

For it to count as intuition, there has to be a stimulus, regardless of whether the person remembers it or feels it.

Can someone else please jump into this debate? This is getting exhausting.

Sandra Morgan2, didn't you mention your friend "knew" just two minutes after sex? Honestly, that sounds pretty ridiculous to me—total shot in the dark if you ask me. Plus, Scarlett Johansson thinks those kinds of situations definitely need a follow-up check.

You can't rule out the idea that women actually know they're pregnant very early on just because some of them imagine it when they aren't.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if some women just get lucky with a guess!
If you aren't following the science here, once the sperm meets the egg, it takes at least a week before the body even realizes what happened. Implantation is the key. That’s when the fertilized egg actually attaches to the uterine wall. Only then does the body get the memo that pregnancy has occurred. The body isn't magically aware two minutes after conception. There’s no feedback loop. No implantation, no signal.

The thing is, you just can't know everything right away. A week out? Everything feels fine and balanced...
But give it a few more days, and suddenly you're hit with this intense, overwhelming urge to have a baby. You might spiral into an obsession, feel totally off-kilter, or face the crushing weight of a miscarriage—especially when you mix extreme stress and emotional instability with a cocktail of hormones that feel like a literal hurricane. Throw in sky-high expectations, and things can get pretty hysterical...

Let's look at fertilization as our starting point here, not implantation.

Sandra Morgan2 said:1. No hard feelings, Alex Thomas27 🙂. While feeling symptoms as early as 6 or 7 days is definitely rare, it does happen to some women.

2. To be clear, my friend didn't feel anything physical. The meeting of the sperm and the egg isn't instantaneous; those swimmers have to make their way up to the fallopian tubes first, which can take hours or even a couple of days. She just knew on a completely different level that *that* specific moment was the one that would lead to a baby... it was this instant, intuitive flash of what was coming next. And intuition, by its very nature, is knowing something 100% without having any clue how you know it.

Intuition sounds like something straight out of an astrology book or a magic show.
Personally, I’d say she was just losing her grip on reality. The one saving grace is that she actually did end up pregnant, but let's be real—that's just pure luck. She had incredible luck, not "intuition."

Thanks, Susan Jackson12.
briskjackal5, this isn't about being trendy. It’s just that these pants are ridiculously wide, and I'm actually trying to show off my skinny calves here.

1)I honestly thought it happened a week after fertilization. My bad.
2)Your friend hit the jackpot. It’s almost like the fertilized egg—which she didn't even feel—didn't even have to bother implanting in the uterine wall.

I don't want "different" pants. I want pants made for normal girls—pants I could actually fit into if my lower legs weren't so thick.
I’m not looking for flares. I want pants that make my calves look slim (like, actually slim, not just hiding them under fabric, which feels pathetic), and pants that give my thighs and glutes a heart-shaped silhouette (you know, an inverted triangle).

I want the kind of legs girls my age (17) have. Girls my age don't have calves that measure 16 inches around. They have slender, tapered legs, and that's what I'm after.

Susan Jackson12 said:Total troll. Swollen calves from walking too much? Give me a break.

I’m also 5'6", with 36" hips, a 25" waist, 35" bust, 13" calves, and 20" thighs. If just walking makes your calves swell up, what am I supposed to do? I spend my time doing single-leg squats, weighted squats with 55 lbs, and a whole laundry list of other exercises.

The fix is pretty straightforward—lose weight. Cut your daily calories, bump up the protein, and start working out. Mix in some cardio you actually enjoy, but definitely include strength training so you don't lose whatever muscle mass you currently have.

I'm not trolling. I genuinely mean it.

But what if all that protein and training just builds more muscle in my calves and makes them wider? That's the last thing I want. I'm trying to slim them down, not bulk them up!

Maybe just lose some weight and hit the gym. How tall are you?

I’m not trolling. I actually need help here.

Like I said, I walk constantly. I'm about 5'6". I think my lower legs are swelling because I'm on my feet all day.

Rebecca Scott3 said:Personally, I could feel I was pregnant just a week in... and that happened during two different pregnancies...
.... in one of them, I had this intense nervousness... nothing like I’d ever felt before... or anything since... it hit me just after a week... and I hadn't even suspected a thing... suddenly, I just knew something was shifting inside my body... then, two weeks later when my period didn't show up, I was certain, and by three weeks, my breasts were getting really sensitive...

.... during my second pregnancy, I ran a bit of a fever—around 99 degrees—after just a few days... plus some nausea... one doctor told me right then and there that I was probably pregnant... and sure enough, I was...
so many women just know something is happening in their bodies almost immediately... maybe a few days in... they might not know exactly what it is, though... while others can tell it's a pregnancy right away...
...it isn't hysteria... or psychosis... it's just nature... you just have to listen... to yourself... and to everything around you...

Symptoms show up about a week after conception. Anyone claiming to feel symptoms on the actual day of conception shouldn't be feeling them at all. Honestly, I'd suggest those women look into some medical literature or see a specialist, because they are either:
A) Psychotic
B) Uninformed. If they realized symptoms actually take a week to kick in, they might actually celebrate their baby's "conception anniversary" on the right date. Otherwise, they'll be celebrating a week late.

Hey there, I'm Alex Thomas27. I weigh about 165 lbs and my calves measure 16 inches.
My hips are 46, my waist is 29, and my bust is 37.

So, I went out shopping for jeans today, and it was a total disaster. I couldn't get a single pair on because of my calves. And I'm telling you, they are genuinely wide.

Does anyone have any advice on how to slim down my calves through exercise? I walk constantly. Is it possible my legs are just swollen? Should I maybe cut back on the walking?

If I don't get some solid advice on how to shrink these calves, I might actually cry.

So, she's either delusional or experiencing psychosis. Pseudocyesis—phantom pregnancies—isn't exactly common in psychiatry, but it does happen.

I don't think you quite caught my drift. The woman actually *is* pregnant, but she’s exhibiting symptoms way too early. My question is: how do you even begin to treat someone in that situation? And more importantly, how do you go about diagnosing psychosis in the first place?
Phantom pregnancy: What's your experience? in Psychology ·
driftinggull21 said:Pregnancy is clinically confirmed via ultrasound; no competent physician would ever diagnose it any other way.

This is typically a matter of delusional thinking—or perhaps even a genuine psychotic episode—coupled with the simulation of pregnancy symptoms.
The preferred treatment: antipsychotics.

Fair enough, but what if she's actually experiencing symptoms prematurely? Let me clarify: let's say this hypothetical woman *is* pregnant, but she's feeling symptoms way too early—before any physical signs should realistically be showing up.
