Robin Turner27 said:it doesn't matter if they're indie 😁 Adele is mainstream. She’s on the radio constantly and people actually listen. Most of the other artists just aren't hitting the mark 😁

As for that whole refund thing—if I were running Coachella, I wouldn't even bother replying to you. I honestly have no clue what kind of logic you're using there. 😁

Wait, what? That last part was a stretch.

Bruno Mars gets played on the radio too. Quite a bit, actually, especially on the big national stations. Personally, I enjoy his stuff way more than Adele or Machine Gun Kelly, who both fell off.
OK Computer also gets airplay despite not being mainstream... A few of their tracks are totally overplayed: Seven Nation Army or Hey Ya!, for example.

Hi there, I’ve managed to snag an early bird ticket that has my name printed right on it, but it turns out I won't be able to make it to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival after all. Does anyone know if it's even possible to sell this thing, considering my name is explicitly listed on the pass? Is there any chance they actually check IDs against the names at the entrance? Thanks in advance!

After Adele, my only real concern is making sure Bruno Mars doesn't flake on us.
I've already seen all the other artists I actually like live.

I’m seriously about to report them to the FTC, and honestly? Let them try and explain to some judge in a courtroom how this is somehow my own fault. I am so done with people trying to gaslight me after they screw up.

No, you can't just pin this on my mother—that's totally out of line and completely misses the point of what we're even talking about here! 🙄

vividraven7 said:Honestly... it also blows my mind how none of the other artists seem to give a single damn about them, like, seriously, nobody? Especially when you look at the rest of the lineup and realize most of them are strictly indie acts too. It just doesn't add up.

It’s that classic case of mass appeal, isn't it? Everyone just jumps on the bandwagon the second something goes mainstream. Now that F+M has finally hit the big leagues and everyone is obsessed with them, people are just losing their minds trying to stay relevant by riding their wave. It's all about following the crowd at this point. 😁
Back when the FBI was actually at the top of their game and everyone was obsessed with them, people were absolutely losing their minds over them.

I have a three-day pass myself. I won't be able to make it for the final day.

vividraven7 said:huh? what's this about "boldani" part.

Ed Sheeran is on the radio too. Pretty much all over the major national stations. Honestly, I'm vibing with him way more than Florence + The Machine or Machine Gun Kelly, who both got cut.
Of Monsters and Men get airtime even if they aren't exactly mainstream... though they've played their few hits to death: Pumped Up Kicks, Dog Days Are Over, etc.

wasn't talking to you, boldani 🙂

i'm with you on that whole ticket refund thing🎉

Out of all the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineups, I guess the only one that actually worked was mine.

Is there gonna be some weird extra step at the gate regarding my ticket and the stub?

I honestly don't get how you let them pull a fast one on you like that—why on earth would you even buy the ticket? Unless, of course, the F&M show was never actually a done deal to begin with...

Just sell it and be done with it.

Did they even release the lineup for specific artists yet? Honestly, what’s a better excuse for grabbing a three-day pass before knowing who plays when? Once the schedule drops, sure, you can't complain about getting a refund—that’s on you. But buying early when everything was still up in the air? That feels like a valid reason to me. I didn't buy a ticket myself, so I'm not involved, just making an observation.

I suppose if you buy your tickets before the lineup is even announced, you’re essentially signaling that you’re willing to show up regardless of who is playing. You're basically accepting the risk that the schedule might not actually suit you, I guess. If someone isn't entirely certain they can make it, they probably shouldn't be buying anything until the lineup drops. Personally, I found myself waiting right up until the announcement just to decide if it was even worth going.

You're taking the gamble that the schedule won't mess with your plans. If you aren't sure you can make it, don't buy until the dates are out. I personally waited for the full lineup just to be certain before committing.

It’s not about whether people can show up, though. It’s about the performers canceling. People bought their passes before they even knew which day Flo was hitting the stage because they wanted to lock in a spot. They weren't sure if single-day tickets would still be available or if they'd sell out once the lineup went live. I get your point, there's definitely a risk involved, but this whole thing is an outlier since the headliner bailed. Anyway, I won't dwell on it. 🙂

Since I haven't been to Coachella since 2009, what’s the deal with buying food and drinks now? I heard they don't use paper tickets anymore... someone mentioned you get a voucher on some kind of card 🤔

You just load up your card and swipe away for everything you need. Honestly, it’s a win-win setup for us because things move so much faster, and I guess it works for them too since people end up blowing way more cash than they intended. But let's be real, those pesky transaction fees just eat right through your money 😁
The good news is you can get your money back, but only if you actually kept the original receipt from the deposit.

The refund is guaranteed, provided you actually have the original receipt from the transaction.

I can't speak to how things work in NYC, but over at Sighet, the lines for refunds were absolutely massive, so I didn't exactly see the "smart" side of that strategy.

In Germany, though, you hand over five euros and get a beer right then and there—can you think of anything simpler? 😁

But look, if you're in Germany, you just toss five bucks down and grab a beer—it’s way more straightforward than this mess.😁

You can actually claim your deposit up to two weeks after the festival wraps up, so there really shouldn't be any massive crowds or anything.
The easiest way to deal with this whole headache? Just figure out exactly how much cash you'll need for drinks and transfer that amount. Like, if you want five beers, just send over $33.
And frankly, I have zero sympathy for the people who tried to deposit something like $167 only to end up losing half their money—there were plenty of people whining about that exact same thing last year.

I have to admit, I’m completely lost on this one. Why on earth wouldn't someone just pay via $167, and why should it be considered acceptable to lose half your money in the process? 🤷

If you can actually swing the cash $167 for a round of drinks every three days, yet you're somehow dim-witted enough to lose the receipt—well, honestly, you don't deserve any sympathy.

Are we talking about booze and food? I honestly don't know; to me, that seems like a perfectly reasonable amount to spend.

Little scraps of paper get lost easily, especially when you're out in the middle of a festival environment. And besides, why even bother with a physical receipt? It’s not like the money wouldn't hit your bank account via credit card regardless.

And one more thing, totally unrelated to this specific argument—the more money you have, the less you have to sweat the small stuff.
