I mean, sure, they were cheap, they definitely were...
but even a messed up schedule or the terrible sound at the main stage—which no one else mentioned

Honestly, I thought the lineup was trash too, so I didn't even bother showing up this year (my only regrets are missing Gingerman and Retro Stefson).
Maybe I'll grab a ticket next year if the organizers promise to drop the beer prices back down to $5.00 😁

Maybe she went a little overboard with the complaints—especially that whole thing about the Wi-Fi, which honestly doesn't matter to most people. But then again, I guess it is kind of ridiculous if a major telecom company is sponsoring the festival and they still can't get basic connectivity working, right?

Up until this year, Coachella basically had zero real competition... but we'll see how things play out now that more and more serious festivals are popping up every single year. I don't wish for them to go under or anything, but I do hope they get a reality check—maybe even a painful one—so they finally start respecting their fans and their +$100.

Alright, let me throw in a few thoughts myself, even if I am a couple of days late to the party.

TV on the Radio totally blew me away—honestly, I was almost tempted to bail right after their second song, but damn it, Mastodon is Mastodon. Those guys from Atlanta absolutely crushed it. Technically? Flawless. My only gripe was that they felt a little disconnected from the crowd, just a bit distant... Anyway, an hour later I headed over to see Cypress Hill, who I thought put on a killer set too. Though, if I’m being real, I wish they had brought a full band along; everything sounds so much punchier live when there's a real group behind them, but hey, we got a solid run of tracks from their first three albums. But man, Grinderman? Easily the best set of the festival so far (at least from what I managed to catch). Just pure, raw energy... Nick Cave and Ellis are absolute madmen, and the musicianship was top-tier... Everything was just incredible, and I spent the entire next day humming melodies under my breath. What a way to wrap up the festival.

It’s honestly wild—you can't even get through a single concert review without running into a massive wall of people going, "Ugh, I remember when hunting for vinyl was such a struggle, and finding a rare record felt like winning the lottery! But now that everything is just a click away, music doesn't have any soul left, so it's all trash nowadays." 😢 🤮 It’s just constant! And on top of that, you barely read anything actually useful about the show itself or the music from the bands that were on stage 🤷

I ended up totally falling in love with Arcade Fire, even though I missed out on some of the early drama regarding wristbands and tickets. But man, when they played Suburban War... it was pure magic 😍 I honestly just stood there for over an hour with this massive, goofy grin on my face like a total idiot, just soaking it all in. And Jamiroquai... wow. I can't help but wonder if Jay was actually sipping tea or something else out of that cup 😁 It was pretty hilarious how his stage banter basically boiled down to a single "Thank youu" after every song. Still, he did a solid job. Even though I don't usually listen to them, Dubioza and Grinderman were fantastic. I definitely had to shuffle around during Grinderman, though—first because three guys were doing these wild, delirious stripper moves, and then because I got stuck behind a couple who looked like they were about to go at it right then and there. Honestly, maybe they did once I left 🤷

Bottom line: I don't regret spending a dime. It was incredible, and I really hope Arcade Fire keeps their word and comes back 😁

Better late than never, I guess—though honestly, it was pretty pathetic of me. I actually skipped out last year because the lineup looked so weak, but I ended up showing up this time anyway just to catch Mastodon and Grinderman. Mastodon? They’re just phenomenal, as usual. This was my fifth time seeing them live, and man, those guys don't show any signs of slowing down at all. Also, Alexander... dear god, he really proved once again in his review that his musical taste probably peaks at whatever cold beer he's sipping on, so maybe just skip his takes when it comes to actual music :-)

Nick Cave and Grinderman—that’s where it’s at. Period.

And as for that Dubioza Kolektiv group people rave about? In my opinion, they're just terrible. It’s just a bunch of stupid, forced rhymes, and the music isn't some cool fusion or anything; it’s more like a senseless mess.

Despite the myriad of shortcomings—ranging from the rather mediocre sound quality to that absolutely nonsensical lineup schedule—the performances I actually caught more than made up for everything, and I suppose I can't say I regret being at Coachella even one bit.

What she wrote about that torn wristband is actually progress. Last year, I showed up to the main girl at the gate with a ripped wristband, my ticket, and all my food vouchers, and I knew exactly how much everything cost... but she wouldn't let me in. I had to spend an hour basically begging and pleading until she finally gave in. Honestly, I haven't liked the festival much since then. But this year was alright, except for the beer being way too expensive. And we didn't have anything to do until 8 PM...

The 7th edition of America's premier music event, Coachella, is officially hitting the stage the last weekend of June 2012—mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, June 29th and 30th!

Camping runs from 06.27. to 07.01.

Keeping with tradition, we aren't just bringing you an incredible lineup; we're also setting up the festival campground. Our international guests have always raved about how one of the best-organized camping setups in the festival circuit, so expect top-tier vibes. Camping will be open from June 27th through July 1st.

On top of plenty of great food options, Coachella is introducing some fresh innovations and new side attractions this year to make the whole experience even more unforgettable. We'll be dropping more details on these new festival perks in the coming months.

Tickets go on sale in February

You can snag your ticket for Coachella 2012 during the first half of February at some seriously great prices. We'll have full festival passes that cover all the days, plus camping passes available for purchase separately (just remember you'll need a festival pass to use them).

They shifted the dates—which might actually be better since it hits the weekend now—but they lost their main sponsor, so we’re likely looking at a tighter budget. I’m not feeling great about this; honestly, this year could easily turn into a total flop. We'll just have to wait and see once they finally drop the first lineup announcement.

...just saw they confirmed New Order as the first headliners for Lollapalooza...😢...I really hope they don't end up turning into a demo version of a Music festival if they can't land some bigger sponsors...😁

Man, AT&T is doing such a terrible job lately that after laying off 450 people, they actually had to pull out of this festival too... maybe now T-Mobile can finally step up and take over, since they're the only ones left who haven't tarnished their reputation yet.

But honestly, it would be such a shame if we ended up without this festival, no matter how much some people complained about it or how messy things got—like those geniuses handling the gates last year—because even with all that, it's the only reason bands like these ever bother flying out to the States instead of just skipping us entirely...

It’s honestly such a relief that I’ll be tied up with some much more important work during that time, so I won't even have to waste any energy debating whether or not I should make the trip. 👋

That’s true, but we're talking about Alice in Chains, Sonic Youth, and The Flaming Lips here. That's a huge deal.

Coachella isn't some big shot festival either. There are tons of interesting shows happening all over the US throughout the year, outside of Coachella.

I don't know if that's why they're pulling the sponsorship, but something is clearly going south at AT&T, at least according to the latest numbers.

I really hope it still happens. At the end of the day, it's still the biggest and most attended festival in the US.

The last time Coachella felt actually worthwhile was back during the Verizon era—I believe that was 2008. Everything since they took over with T-Mobile has been nothing short of pathetic...
One can only hope they manage to book an actual, decent performer this year... Having The Prodigy on the Verizon stage was absolutely transcendent, much like the rest of that lineup. I certainly wouldn't complain if they brought them back! 😍
