Honestly, anyone who actually knows what they're talking about isn't going to suggest hitting the whey protein before your workout instead of after.

You aren't eating enough calories. In plain English—stop reading forum meal plans and start eating.😁
And when someone says "I eat a ton," they usually mean a bowl of granola and yogurt in the morning, a pastry later, then a deli ham sandwich, and finally two slices of toast with spread for dinner. 😁
-eat meat—lots of meat—eggs, and don't be afraid of fats (and no, I don't mean greasy fast food burgers)

hm, I guess some people are just foolish, and others perhaps are not.

Look, nobody is stupid here; everyone just has their own way of doing things. Some people stick strictly to a During-Workout supplement, while others split their intake into Pre-Workout and During-Workout. You’ll find some folks take whey before training and then casein during, or maybe they mix the two. It all comes down to what works for your body... I can't just tell everyone that taking something During-Workout is the "best" way when some people end up feeling nauseous if they try it. 🙂 Just give it a shot and see what fits your routine best.

You even have people using whey before a workout and casein during, or mixing them together. It all comes down to what works best for you. I can't just say I take my supplements During-Workout and tell everyone that's the gold standard, especially since some people feel lightheaded if they take stuff mid-session 🙂. Just try it out and see what fits your rhythm.
Exactly. Personally, I take mine before, during, and after. There’s a logic to it—it keeps the body constantly supplied with whey and glucose.
On a side note, I was surprised by how good the shakes turn out when you use one of those dedicated shaker bottles; they end up having the texture of melted ice cream. So good. 😁

That would be the dream, honestly! XD But I’d burn through a tub way too fast. Plus, I’m obsessed with those specific flavors (chocolate and vanilla 🙂), which makes the whole experience feel even more rewarding while I'm sipping my shake. For me, the sweet spot is taking 1/4 before hitting the weights, 2/4 during the workout, and saving that last quarter for after my cool-down... damn, they are seriously good XD

So, I was just sitting here wondering... is there actually anyone left in this place who hits the gym regularly without being completely dependent on protein shakes?

Yeah, I don't touch them, and honestly, I don't see myself ever starting again. 🙂

..if anyone cares, I was hitting the gym at Gold's Gym last night and they have a sale going on. They’ve got a 500g tub of Muscle gainer for $30, Creatine for 129 or $46 for a half-kilo, and some Cell-tec for 113 or $40. I didn't catch the exact dollar amounts—my brain was a bit fried from the workout—but I don't think I missed out on much.

Jonathan Miller7 said:Yeah, I don't drink them, nor do I have any intention of ever touching them again. 🙂
And if you don't mind me asking... the reason I skip them is that I'm seeing progress without any protein shakes, you know? Sure, I'm certain things might move a bit faster if I added supplements to the mix, but honestly, I'm in no rush to get anywhere.

Nathan Howard75 said:Can I just ask... I don't bother with them because I'm seeing gains without any protein powder, okay? I mean, sure, maybe things would move faster if I used supplements, but honestly, I'm in no rush.
It’s because they absolutely wreck my digestion. I have no clue why, but whenever I drink them, I end up totally backed up for two days straight. Plus, the constant bloating and gas is just unbearable—I can't deal with that.
As far as progress goes, it's pretty much a wash whether you use them or not. You've got to realize that it's the exact same protein you're getting from actual food, so the results are identical. They're really just there for convenience—they're easy to whip up when you don't feel like cooking eggs or chicken or whatever.

Adding protein shakes won't necessarily speed up your progress. They’re really just a supplement to what you eat. Most people rely on them simply because they don't have the time to prep a full meal or sit down for a proper dinner every single day.

There are also those who opt for whey before training and then casein during, or maybe they mix them together, and so on... I guess it all really comes down to you and whatever feels most effective for your own body. It wouldn't be right for me to claim that I use During-Workout and then insist to everyone else that it's the absolute best way, especially since I know there are people who might feel lightheaded if they try using During-Workout 🙂 so you should probably just try it yourself and see what works best for you.
Oh, I know, I was just joking. 🙂 I suppose I use that kind of language simply to try and create a bit of a humorous effect, rather than intending to offend anyone. Just because I happen to use Pre-Workout or proteins doesn't mean I have anything against people who hold different beliefs or perspectives regarding how they consume them.

I guess you're advertising here again, aren't you? 😁 😛
Anyway, I was wondering which specific brand of creatine that is? Because there are so many different types of creatine out there...

Besides, what kind of creatine are we even talking about? There's plenty of different types of creatine out there...
I put my thoughts down clearly enough for anyone who actually cares—which obviously doesn't include you, so there's no need to chime in. Someone else might find this useful (personally, I would), and it’s good to have the info. I just happened to forget to mention the brand name at the very end—it was Optimum Nutrition.

Could someone please lend me some guidance? I’m looking to start using my protein shake, but I just noticed the expiration date is at the end of this month.
IS THERE ANY chance of side effects, or more specifically, is it actually safe to continue consuming the protein shake even if the expiration date has passed?
Thank you all so much in advance for your help!

ARE THERE any actual side effects? Like, can I just keep using it regardless of the date on the tub?
Thanks in advance!
Look, you'll probably be fine, but those expiration dates aren't just there for decoration for a reason.
