I did, and the letter still changes.

I’m having some trouble with Word too. 😍
So, I’m typing away, everything is set up using Bullets, but every time I hit enter, a dash pops up on the next line—even if I don't type anything at all. Then, out of nowhere, I'll hit enter and it just moves to a new line without the dash appearing. The dash only shows up once I actually start typing something. I just want it to work the old-fashioned way. This is driving me crazy. I tried searching on Google and digging through the settings in Word, but nothing worked. Can anyone help me out? 😢

That’s just how it works. If you move a column on Sheet3, the formula on Sheet1 follows suit because it’s a live link. Excel tracks the location, so if you shove a new column in there, the address updates automatically.

If you want to target specifically whatever is sitting in C3 on Sheet3 regardless of what you do to the columns, try using =OFFSET(Sheet3!A1,2,2)—though even then, things might shift depending on how you play it.
Drop an example of what you're actually trying to do in a specific cell and maybe I can help more.

Which version of Word? Need more info here—what do you mean "suddenly"? Like, after how many enters...
Pro tip: just type your text normally, hit enter at the end of each line, then highlight everything and slap on a bullet list.

Word 2003, I forgot to mention that. 🙂
I’ve been grinding away at this one document for a few days now. I'm just typing out my bullet points the usual way—hit enter, a bullet pops up on the next line, type away. Suddenly (probably hit some random key combo without realizing it, who knows), the bullets aren't appearing anymore. Now they only show up once I actually start typing the text.
That’s how I've always done it. I need to figure out what went wrong! This keeps happening to me—I accidentally trigger some setting with a shortcut and then spend days hunting for the fix. 😉

Then, out of nowhere (I probably hit some random key combination without realizing it, though heaven knows which one), the bullets stop appearing until *after* I start typing the text.
That’s not how I work. And I want to know what went wrong! This isn't even the first time this kind of thing has happened to me; I accidentally trigger some obscure setting with a shortcut and then spend days hunting through menus trying to figure out how to undo it. 😉

Honestly, I'm not quite following what's happening here, but since you mentioned you don't know which shortcut caused the mess, maybe this will help you fix it. I can't seem to upload images directly to this thread, so I'll just give you the link where you can see the screenshot.

🤔

No, I get it, everything is fine. 🙂
Okay, so here’s what just happened... I went to delete a chunk of text (everything after number 21) so my specific points wouldn't be visible, and then I added a new Bulleted list on the bottom line. Suddenly—boom—a bullet point appears at the very start of the first line. 😕 Now it’s working normally.

Anyway, this was exactly what was happening; hopefully, it makes more sense now. 🙂

Let's try this instead: after number 21, there should be some kind of question or something similar, but you shouldn't have a Bullet at the beginning. But then, when you move to a new line and want to write your responses using bullets??? So, you type the question number => question, then you hit enter (with or without it, however you like), type a dash "-", a space, and then your text. If you want the next line to also have a dash, you just hit enter at the end of the previous line. We've finished the first question and its bullets. Now, you want to write the next question (22), right? When you hit enter and a dash automatically pops up, you just use backspace to kill that dash, return to the start of the new line, type "22.", and repeat the process for all your questions. Is there really an issue with that???

Nah, that’s not the issue. Look, I’m no idiot when it comes to Word—I get what you're saying—but you clearly aren't following me. 🙂
The issue is specifically with the bullets. On a totally blank page in a new document with zero formatting applied, the exact same thing happens: I click the "Bullets" button, the list activates, but the actual bullets stay invisible until I actually start typing in that line. Once I type something, even just a single letter or a space, the bullet finally shows up.
Just two days ago, if I clicked "Bullets," the bullet would pop up immediately on the first line, regardless of whether there was text there or not. I'd have my little dash at the start of the line with nothing after it. Now? The start of the line stays empty until I start typing. Only once I hit, say, "a," does the bullet appear at the beginning.

Edit: Okay, now it's working okay, then not okay again... honestly, I have no clue what's going on. 😕

Something messed up with your styles or those preset Bullets. Try one of these:

- nuking your Normal.dot file and just restarting Word. Or
- I'm guessing that "dash" is just how you've got your bullets set up. Try resetting everything to factory defaults (Format => Bullets and numbering => select each one, hit Reset). See if the default Bullets actually work after that.
If that doesn't fix it, go dig through your styles.

So, here is my situation: I am currently working on a term paper using Microsoft Word 2007. I need to set up the page numbering so that the actual count begins with page 1 on the third page of the document—specifically where the introduction starts.
Could someone please guide me through the proper steps to configure this? Thank you very much!

Check this out here:

It’s probably pretty much the same deal in 2007.
Or maybe try this:

Kyle Johnson2, thanks. 🙂
If it "breaks" again, I’ll follow your steps (though I have a feeling it might 😁). In the meantime, it's working again. It wouldn't budge this morning, so I shut down the computer, headed out, came back just now, gave it another shot, and—lo and behold—everything is fine. Every document, every single part, works perfectly. What an absolute joke. ☕

I have a quick question. I'm working with PowerPoint 2003 and I need to build a template for a presentation. I want the first slide to just show the title, but then I want the exact same image to appear on every single subsequent slide, no matter how many there are. Any idea how to do that? I've been trying to figure it out myself but 😢

How do I pull that off? I've been staring at this screen for ages and I'm just stuck. 😢

Take a look here.

It’s been a long time since I’ve really dug into Excel... and honestly, whatever little knowledge I had back then has pretty much evaporated.
Now I'm trying to build a little mini-program within Excel, and I have a question for the experts here.
I hope I can explain this clearly enough.

1. I have an "object" that is split into three sections... basically three small tables.
2. From those tables, I pull five different pieces of data—three area measurements and two length measurements.
3. To select each specific piece of data, I use a separate checkbox.
That means if I want to use all five data points, I have to click five times just for one single object.
And I have quite a few of these objects.

I’d like to be able to toggle all five of those data points with a single selection.
In other words, could one click on a single checkbox automatically check the previous five checkboxes?
Is that actually possible to pull off? And if so, how would I go about it?

Or is there a different way to pull this off?
I'm looking to have one single checkbox trigger five different cells... each filled with its own unique data...

Hi 🙂
PowerPoint 2007
How do I set it up so objects trigger only when I click them directly—instead of just following the animation order I've already assigned? :/
