Ethan Palmer69 said:That sounds wonderful! But how on earth do I go about deleting numbers 3 and 4 since they are showing up on my table of contents and a blank page?
(Or more generally speaking, how can I strip those numbers away without completely wrecking the rest of my formatting?)

For instance, what if I wanted my numbering to restart at 2 starting from page 6?

Well, in order to truly master this, you really ought to learn how to work with sections first, just as I mentioned previously.
However, I am more than happy to lend a helping hand!

First things first, please make sure to enable the "Show/Hide" feature in Microsoft Word—it looks like a little musical note icon and is black in color; otherwise, you won't be able to actually see where your page breaks or section breaks are located.
Now, wherever you want the numbering to reset (for example, on page 6 in your specific case), essentially where you want the count to start over, simply click at the very end of that page and press:
INSERT - break Continuous. By doing this, you have successfully created a new section, meaning you now have Section 1 and Section 2. Now, please enable:

View - Header and Footer, so that you can clearly visualize your sections.

- Navigate over to Section 2. Now, please pay close attention: everything you do from here on out should be done within Section 2!
- Turn off "Link to Previous"—you'll know it's off when the button is no longer highlighted.
- Click on the third icon from the left: Format Page Number.
- Set the option to "Start at: 0." This might occasionally jump you back to Section 1, but if that happens, just head right back to Section 2 and then:
- Click Insert Page Number, which is the icon all the way on the left (you can do this in either the header or the footer).
- The current page number will appear, and it should now correctly show as number 1!

Do keep in mind, if you don't adjust the "Format Page Number" setting, the software will simply display the actual page count; so, if you are currently on page 7, it will insist on saying "Page 7," which is precisely why that specific step is so vital.

First off, I’m reaching out to see if I can tap into the collective wisdom here for a bit of help.

My sister is working on a computer science project where she needs to build a point-of-sale system using Microsoft Access, but she’s feeling a little stuck on where to even kick things off. If anyone has some pointers or a good starting point, I’d really appreciate it!

Gregory Rogers20 said:Yeah, I mean, if I had more data—like at least 100 rows—all those useless "empty rows" would just clutter everything up and make it look messy instead of clean...
What if you just dumped everything into a single cell, one after another?

Here’s how you can knock that out using a Makronaredba.
The example gives you two options: hit the COPY button or use the FORM button.
If you click Copy, it automatically grabs everything based on what you set in cells E1 and E2.

If you want to go through the form, just click the Form button to pop up a dialog box where you can type in your MIN and MAX values.
Everything gets copied right under the specified range.
Just tweak the Makronaredba parts to fit whatever you actually need.

On the Sheet where you're doing the math, just set up a Validation list for every single Stvar. Pro tip: use Define Name for your data ranges—it makes your formulas way less of a headache
. Also, give your Sheets actual names that make sense. Once your Validation list is set, just use the SUMIF formula. Just drag it down for as many "stvari" as you've got. Hope that clicks. Here's the finished file for you

In this example, you have the choice to either click the COPY button or the FORM button.
If you opt for the Copy button, it automatically performs the duplication based on the criteria set within cells E1 and E2.

Alternatively, if you prefer using the form, clicking the Form button will trigger a dialog box where you can manually input your desired MIN and MAX values.
Everything gets copied directly underneath your specified range.
All you really need to do is tweak the code to fit your specific requirements—just modify those sections of the Makronaredba accordingly.

- Copying between MIN and MAX values

Bravo, John! This is truly an excellent way to handle the task; best of all, I don't even have to drag any formulas down manually! It just populates everything instantly. 🙂
Since I have at least a little bit of experience tinkering with Visual Basic, I shouldn't have much trouble adjusting the logic if my needs change later on. 🙂

Honestly, even without the form feature, this is great because that Copy button alone does the trick perfectly.
Now, moving forward, how exactly should we handle the decimal points in this setup?

Hey Gregory Rogers20, as far as I can remember, there was never any mention of maximum or minimum values. I just assumed you could skip steps, which is why I suggested entering the values directly into column D.
Nicholas King 👍.

Nicholas King 👍.

How can you say that isn't the case? I mean, what else could FROM - TO mean? It’s essentially the exact same thing, haha!
I am so sorry, Benjamin Wilson7, it truly wasn't my intention to mislead you! 🤣

So, I've been dealing with a bit of a headache for a few days now—Excel, of course.
I built this template called PLAĆA, which I use for processing employee payroll.
Every month, the template gets renamed P1, P2, P3... all the way up to P12 for the full year.
Inside each individual Pn, there are about 30 different tabs—one for each worker—and one specific tab within every Pn is titled rekapitulacija. This tab provides a monthly summary of various work parameters for all employees.

THE PROBLEM:
How can I create an add-in (a program, or whatever works) designed to aggregate data from the rekapitulacija tab found within each Plaći_P1-P12 file? These summaries are formatted as pivot reports. Creating this for months that are already finished (January-March) wouldn't be much of a challenge, but I need this tool to also pull quantities from the future Pn tabs that haven't been filled out yet. All I know is how they'll be named: P4 (for April), P5 (for May), and so on.

One of the trickier parts is that I can't pre-name all the files from P1 to P12. I often have to modify the P template due to changing labor laws or our own internal company policies.

I should mention that John and Nicholas King have been incredibly helpful with their suggestions and ideas while I've been working on this.

So, I'm really just looking for a direction to head in. Once I have a strategy, I'll roll up my sleeves and try to make it happen.

Danny, you could just breeze through that using filters—you know, the ones with all those options like equals, greater than, or less than...
Then you just grab the results and paste them right into a new Sheet. Filters give you exactly what you need when you're looking for a specific range, even if you're dealing with decimals.

Benjamin Wilson7 said:Danny, you could actually handle that quite easily just by using filters! They offer so many great options—like finding exact matches, values greater than, or less than certain amounts—and then you can simply copy those results over to a new Sheet. Filters are wonderful because they isolate exactly what you need within a specific range, even when you're dealing with messy decimals.

Actually, I'm going to pass on the filter idea; from what I've observed, they mostly just highlight the relevant data rather than actually generating new outputs or cleaning up rows for you.
I think I'll just wait to hear back from John to see if we can make this work with those decimal values.

You're missing the point here. It’s not about deleting rows—of course they aren't doing that. They're just hiding them, leaving behind exactly what you need to see, from start to finish.

Which specific filter were you referring to there? My mind was stuck on "conditional formatting."
I actually stumbled upon another method—I think it’s one where everything in the main table gets wiped out, leaving only the data you want to see. But when I say "wiped out from the main table," I mean it's actually altering my primary data set instead of just copying the results somewhere else... I'm honestly not quite sure how to describe it properly.

Home -> Editing -> Sort & Filter -> once you apply filters, head over to ->Number filter -> then select Between (this lets you show rows where the value falls within a specific range—just plug in your numbers, decimals, etc.), one of those essential Excel tools.

Don't wait up for me. Just Google it—I'm already Googling. Get moving. 🙂

Brain's fried. Need to step away from the PC for a bit. Check this out. HERE Can you help me out? I used to do this kind of stuff way back in the day when I was just starting out. There are 5 sheets on that link.
Think about that new file you're building to aggregate all the data from those other Google Sheets. You actually need to define them first. Honestly, I can barely make sense of what you wrote, let alone give you any solid advice right now. 🙂

Night, you two.

Can someone help me figure out how to do this in Word:

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/6...wwwwwwwwwz.jpg

Basically, I want those little dots so the page numbers end up perfectly aligned on the right side.

Thanks so much in advance. 🙂

The screenshot you shared looks like an "automatic Table of Contents." To get that working, you basically need to make sure your chapter titles are formatted using styles like Heading 1, Heading 2, and so on—you know, the standard stuff. Once that's done, you just head over to
Insert -> References -> Table of Contents
. You might have to tweak a few settings here and there, but that's pretty much it.
The big plus with doing it this way—and I really think it's the only way to go if you value your sanity—is that the table updates itself automatically whenever your page numbers shift.
There is a "manual" way to do it, I suppose, where you'd set up a right-aligned tab with a dotted "leader" line. You’ll get the alignment you want, sure, but you're going to be stuck typing everything out by hand, which... well, it's a massive headache. 🙂

How do I get the system to calculate sales tax automatically?
For example: cell E12 (price + tax) + F12 (price + tax) + G12 (price - tax) - H12... and then have the whole thing total up in I12?

I've attached an image showing how the layout should look, but I'm stuck on how to actually write the formula so it handles the tax calculations correctly.

Thanks

The screenshot is honestly a bit baffling—you’ve got entries for 200 and 300, yet the total sales tax is sitting at 20. 😕

I'm struggling to pin down where the actual issue lies here: if cells E12, F12, and G12 are where you're inputting the price inclusive of tax, then presumably H12 should be calculated as 0.22*(E12 + F12 + G12)/1.22, while I2 would be E12 + F12 + G12 - H12.

Of course, if you're dealing with a different state sales tax rate, then obviously those 0.22 and 1.22 figures won't apply.

I'm not entirely following the issue here. If E12, F12, and G12 are the cells where you input the price inclusive of sales tax, then H12 should be 0.22*(E12 + F12 + G12)/1.22, and I2 would be E12 + F12 + G12 - H12.

Naturally, if you're dealing with a different sales tax rate, those 0.22 and 1.22 figures won't apply.

p.s. ignore those specific numbers... I just need to build this template in Microsoft Excel without those values being hardcoded..

So, I'm wondering how I can set it up so it calculates a 23% sales tax?
