Sarah Brown86 said:p.s ignore those numbers... it's just a template I need to build in Microsoft Excel without those specific values..
So how do I set it up to calculate sales tax (7%)?

Have you checked out this tutorial?

Just send over whatever solution you've managed to scrape together—then we can actually take a look and see if there's anything worth salvaging.

Does anyone happen to know how to adjust this so it handles decimals correctly?

And while I have you, I have a second question. Is there any way within this VBA environment in Microsoft Excel to export a form so others can actually use it without having to open Microsoft Excel itself? From what I can tell, it seems like everything just ends up as a .frm file.

Alright, so I’m trying to whip up a chart in Microsoft Excel—I’ve got these two columns, one for time and one for force.
I highlighted the force column and the chart popped up, and the y-axis looks fine and all, but my x-axis is acting totally weird... it’s just showing these random numbers like 1, 13, 25...
I have no clue how to actually change those values on the x-axis?
They really ought to be the specific values from my second column. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind just typing them in manually since there aren't that many... but I just can't seem to track down the setting to make it happen.🤷🤷

Wait, what? Is this supposed to be handled through some custom VBA script, or can we just wing it manually?

Do we really need to build a whole VBA program for this, or is there a way to just hack it together on the fly?

Once you actually get into the Chart Wizard—and in that second step, you'll see a "Series" tab—there is a specific box for your "Category /X/ axis labels." Just click inside that box, highlight the range where your X-axis labels are located, and that should be that.

Assuming, of course, that I’ve correctly interpreted such a sparse explanation. 🙂

Hopefully these tutorials help you out, maybe even more than what Nicholas King suggested

- How to change chart axis values
- Adjusting the MAX value on a chart
- Modifying values within a chart

Benjamin Wilson7 said:Does this need to be done using a VBA macro or just some old-school manual hack?

Forget VBA. Honestly, your "manual hack" approach works fine if you just use a few formulas.😂

Waiting on our colleague to drop her file so we can actually see how she tackled this and where she hit a wall.

She knocked out the first round by nesting an IF statement using AND, and honestly? Problem solved.
Now, let's see if he actually understands how function nesting works.

I suspect that when they say "write a program," they really do mean using VBA. 🙂

It really needs to be a macro command using a filter
but I’m stuck on which specific code to use... lost my way right here.

Just go ahead and send over whatever code you've managed to write so far—that way we can actually see where things went sideways.

So, I actually managed to pull it off somehow... 🙂
I just hit on the X-axis, went into select data, and then tweaked everything in there.
Thanks much

Come on, if they want a macro, just write one—even if you could just use a few formulas to fix it.
No clue what kind of testing this is or what level we're talking about (is this for some basic computer literacy cert?)

I am facing a bit of a dilemma. My final thesis needs to have specific margins: I need 5 mm for the top, bottom, and right sides, but a 25 mm margin on the left. I have managed to set everything up perfectly, and the entire paper is finished, but as soon as I enable page numbering, the footer pushes my bottom margin upward. Now, instead of that precise 5 mm gap, the spacing is completely off. How can I insert page numbers without disrupting my layout? I am working in 🙂 and I would truly appreciate some guidance, as my deadline is tomorrow... 🙏 Thank you so much!

slyfalcon542 said:Man, every time I turn on page numbering, that bottom line jumps straight up. It’s not sitting at 5mm anymore—it's way too high. Total headache.

Margins in... Word 2003 Either/or. Word 2007 You can set your text boundaries by messing with the Header or Footer settings on the Layout tab. You can also tweak the margins there too.

Honestly, just draw a rectangle with those specific dimensions—kind of like how you'd set up a header —and set the wrapping to "behind text." Then, just align it properly for the binding so you don't run into any trouble with the state standardized testing requirements. 🙂

Benjamin Wilson7 said:Go to Home -> Editing -> Sort & Filter -> once you apply the filters, head over to Number filter -> then choose Between (this allows you to show rows where the value falls within a specific range, just enter the range of numbers you need, including decimals...), which is truly one of the fundamental Excel tools.

I am currently using Office 2003, and I don't even see a "Home" tab! On my version, I have to go to Data -> filter.. but I suspect that isn't quite right because there isn't a "between" option available there at all.
