Thanks 🙂
I’ve been scouring this place already, but I haven't turned up anything like this.
The printer itself works fine—it spits out documents perfectly, no hardware issues or anything. It just keeps nagging me to hit "start" on these specific files.
At first, I thought maybe it was just a margin issue or some weird formatting glitch, so I messed around with those settings for a bit, but nope... nothing worked. Now I'm just stuck digging through more menus.
🤷

Charles Ramos7 said:I have a PHP reservation form running on my website, and currently, all the data just lands in my inbox via email. I was wondering—is there any way to actually link that incoming data directly to Excel so it can automatically list everything out and sort it chronologically?

It’s doable—if nothing else, you could go the "semi-automatic" route. You just dump all those emails into a plain .txt file and then you have some room to maneuver—either dive straight into Excel to crunch the data, or maybe start by cleaning things up in Word first. I guess it depends on how much manual labor you're actually willing to stomach.

ruggedmaker2 said:So, I’ve been running into this incredibly annoying little hiccup lately—it’s one of those small, nagging technical glitches that just makes you want to throw the whole machine out the window. Every time I try to send certain Word documents to my printer, it doesn't actually... well, it doesn't just *print*. It sits there, staring at me, completely idle. To get the damn thing to actually move, I have to physically walk over and mash the "start" button on the printer itself just to kick things into gear. It’s not happening with every single file, which is perhaps the most frustrating part—it seems to be specific to certain Word docs, though I couldn't tell you exactly why. I guess there might be some weird communication breakdown between the software and the hardware, or maybe it's just a driver issue acting up? I'm not entirely sure, but it feels like a massive waste of time to have to manually intervene every single time I need a hard copy. It's just inefficient, really.

Take a look at what paper size is actually set in the settings—you might find out it's stuck on Letter, or perhaps the printer itself is just defaulted to Letter mode by mistake. Also, double-check which "paper source" the printer is looking at. It’s highly likely that the machine is just sitting there waiting for you to manually change the paper size to match whatever the Microsoft Office document is demanding—or, I guess, maybe it's just expecting you to put something in the manual feed tray.

I’ve been wondering—how does the printer actually behave when you’re printing from different applications—say, if you're pulling up a PDF file, for instance?

Does the printer act the same way when you're printing from other stuff, like a PDF?

PDFs, XLS files, whatever—they print fine every single time. It's just these specific Word docs that give me grief. Not all of them, just certain ones.
I'll check those paper settings when I'm back at my desk on Monday and let you know. Pretty sure it's set to A4, though.

I’d be willing to bet a few bucks that those documents have the page size set to Letter. Or, perhaps—though I doubt it—there's some strange configuration issue involving the paper source settings.

Kyle Johnson2 said:If you are looking to sum up all those values from cell B14 across several different Google Sheets, you can simply use one of the formulas listed below!
Code:
=January!B14+February!B14+March!B14+April!B14
=SUM(January!B14,February!B14,March!B14,April!B14)
=SUM(January:April!B14)

Thanks, 🙂

Does anyone know where I can download Word? I’m really hoping there might be a way to grab it for free... I don't have it installed on my computer at all right now, and I'm in a bit of a rush because I need to draft a job application. I have Notepad, but I doubt I could actually get everything formatted properly using just that, besides maybe writing 😛

Since Word is part of the paid Microsoft Office suite, I highly doubt anyone is going to drop a download link for you. That’s straight-up piracy.
You actually have a perfectly fine alternative available called LibreOffice. It's free, and it includes practically all the same features you find in the Microsoft Office package without the subscription fee.🙂

You can get it here, though it isn't free, or you could just download the free Apache OpenOffice version. 🙂

You can find pretty much any version of Microsoft Office you're looking for on torrent sites if you know where to look...

Hi there.
Is this actually doable?

In cell B2, I have the number 1 written.
In cell B3, I have the number 2 written.

In cell D2, there's a slash symbol: /
In cell D3, there's a double slash: //

I'm looking to have cell B2 display the / symbol instead of the number 1.
And I want cell B3 to show // instead of the number 2.

The logic would go something like this:
If B2 contains a 1, show me the / symbol.
If B3 contains a 2, show me the // symbol.

So 😕

Code:
=IF(B2=1;"/";IF(B2=2;"//";"Wrong input"))

Given how things are shaking out with Apache OpenOffice, I’d say just go with LibreOffice.
It's basically the same deal—except, you know, after Oracle's takeover of Sun Microsystems, most of the developers jumped ship over to LibreOffice.

In Excel:
=IF(B2=1;"/";IF(B2=2;"//";"Error"))

Yeah... it works...
but it’s not quite what I was going for. Needs some tweaking..
thanks for the help..

Quick question about that little icon..
that tiny green triangle warning symbol..
> Formula in this cell differs from formulas in this range. <
Is that meant to alert me to an actual error?
Can I just ignore it?

I’m a bit lost here—which cells are you actually trying to put the "/" and "//" in? Based on how you've phrased this, it sounds like you want cell B2 to show "/" if it contains the number 1... but—and I mean this logically—how can a cell hold both the number 1 and a slash at the same time? 😕

I wanted to swap out some data..
If I have the number 1 in cell B2... I want to replace that 1 with a /

Yeah... I guess I'll need to add a few more columns to get the result I'm looking for..
