Clicking through every single one is just way too much work.

Besides that Macro Nicholas King shared, you could always just copy the whole thing into Notepad and then paste it back into Microsoft Word (assuming you don't care about the formatting or layout).

God bless everyone. I am currently working with two different Macros that interact with my Excel application. Essentially, the first Macro serves as an audit tool to track all the changes happening within the Excel file, while the second one handles various mathematical calculations. The issue I am running into—and I hope I am explaining this clearly enough—is that when I run the second Macro, the first one (the audit tool) needs to be turned off entirely. Once I have finished with the calculations, I then need to turn the first Macro back "on." It is a bit of a juggling act, really, as they need to be toggled on and off sequentially.
For instance, let's say Macro 1 is Macro_Audit, and Macro 2 is Macro_calc..

Thanks so much

Look, I’ve dropped a few links here for you—it's a whole collection of tools, so go ahead and dig through them until you find something that actually works for your specific headache.

I need to lock my sheet with a password—keeping the data entry fields open, of course—but there’s a catch: I can't run the Macro I assigned to my Button, which is supposed to refresh my Pivot report.

Everything works fine when the sheet is unlocked. It's driving me crazy! I know I've dealt with these kinds of glitches before, but my old troubleshooting guide is lost somewhere in my files. Any ideas?

p.s. That Sobol guy in the link above is so annoying, $19 bucks for what?

Basically, you just gotta unprotect the sheet right before the Macro runs the Pivot refresh, then lock it back up once it's done.
Some guy suggested this:
Code:
Const C_Pwd = "YourPassword"
With ActiveSheet
.Unprotect C_Pwd
.PivotTables(1).PivotCache.Refresh
.Protect C_Pwd
End With

The whole catch here is that I need other people to be able to run the Macro in this program, but they don't know my password (I don't share it with anyone—call me paranoid if you want).

After scouring through all sorts of forums (including some big ones overseas), I've finally hit the nail on the head: this seems pretty much unsolvable for now. And man, I really, really need this to work. What a total shame.

Don't you think just locking down the Macro provides enough protection?

Like Nicholas King said, just lock down the VBE access and "nobody" is gonna see your password anyway.

Code:
So, I was playing around with some VBA code earlier today. Check this out:

Const C_Pwd = "YourPassword"
With ActiveSheet
.Unprotect C_Pwd
.PivotTables(1).PivotCache.Refresh
.Protect C_Pwd
End With

It’s a pretty straightforward little sequence, right? You just set your password, unlock the sheet, hit that refresh button on the first PivotTable, and then lock everything back up tight. Simple enough? It gets the job done without any fuss.

Same thing happening on my end.
Sub UPDATE_PIVOT_PASSWORD()
'
It refreshes the report in cell P1.
'
Const C_Pwd = "789"
with ActiveSheet
Unprotect C_Pwd
Just a quick tip if you're working in Excel: if you need to refresh that first PivotTable in your sheet, you can just use `.PivotTables(1).PivotCache.Refresh`. Simple as that!
Is there any way to use .Protect C_Pwd?
Wait, does anyone else get tripped up by this? I was looking through some code earlier and realized how much the syntax matters when you're trying to close things out properly. Specifically, when you're using that `protect C_Pwd end with` sequence... it's so easy to miss a step, right? If you don't wrap everything up correctly, the whole thing just falls apart. Does that happen to you guys too? Just one of those little things that seems simple until you're staring at an error message!
end Sub

It looks so much simpler now! Seriously, thank you so much. It works like a charm—exactly what I was looking for. 🙏

Nicholas King said:So, locking the macro isn't enough protection for you?

Nope, because I have specific cells left unlocked in my protected sheet so people can actually enter daily or monthly data. The rest of the fields stay locked because they're full of formulas doing all the heavy lifting—which means the sheet *has* to be protected. Once the data is in, I need to run a macro via a Button to refresh the report without having to manually unlock everything every single time.

The code provided by Ivanov above fixed that exact issue for me. I had managed to get my macro working, but the annoying part was that my sheet would just stay unlocked after the script finished running.

Just head over to Ivanc P. S.'s pages, flip back through a few of them, and you'll find what you're looking for.

Here’s the link Ivanc P. S.

P.S. I still need to finish up those other fields... (I'll get that into my final post)

Quick little question for you guys...
Check out this screenshot
I’m pretty sure the answer is super obvious, I just can’t figure out which formula to plug in, so here we are lol

image

So, here’s the actual deal
See those highlighted cells, G1 and G2? I don't want a standard sum in G1—like, I'm not looking for the total value of everything added up. I actually want it to count how many columns have numbers in them... so for row 1 (A1, B1, C1, D1, E1), I want G1 to automatically show "5". Then obviously, for G2, it should show "3" because only A2, C2, and E2 actually have numbers in them...
If anyone knows how to do this, please help a person out.. thanks 🙂
Hope you guys get what I'm aiming for

Greetings!

I’m looking for some insight here. Does anyone have any experience or intel regarding this site where you can order software (specifically Office 2010 in this instance)? http://thesoftshops.com/?

The situation is this: I need to pick up about 8 or 9 Office packages. One of them absolutely has to be the PRO version because we have a specific piece of software at the firm that demands it. I got hung up on seeing a "70% discount" advertised. If I buy through standard channels, the total cost—including tax—is going to soar way past $2,000, which is a massive hit to the budget. However, using this particular site would represent a significant saving.

Thanks in advance!

Well, you can just head over to the Microsoft website, or honestly, just check out any of those big-box tech retailers
