Hey there. So, here's the deal: I've got this computer science assignment due tomorrow where I need to put together a quick 3-4 slide presentation in PowerPoint—specifically using the 2003 version—but the catch is it has to be animated... like, for example, maybe on the first slide there's a little guy wearing a hat, and then on the second slide, the hat just flies right off his head?? It can basically be any idea at all, as long as it looks sharp and actually makes sense... PLIZZZZZZ could someone please help me out and make this? I would honestly be the most grateful person on the planet!

Your table layout is a mess. Stop hiding columns in the middle—it’s a nightmare. Just Google 😉

John, you're a lifesaver! Thanks so much!
Regarding those spreadsheets, man, they aren't even mine. I was just asked to step in and help out. I managed to sort everything else, but I was totally stuck on how to build a top 5 list. I can get by in Excel, but obviously, I'm nowhere near your level! Seriously, huge thanks, I really appreciate it!

Look, if you need a hand, just go Google it, ask around, and learn from how other people handle things. That’s my move. And hey, if I can give back to the community, I’ll do it just like this example here whenever I’ve got some free time. 😉

Later.

I installed the American English spelling checker for Word on my Windows XP machine, but—nothing! It’s just not doing anything at all.
When I click on Spelling & Grammar, I just get this message: "The spelling and grammar check is complete. Text marked with 'do not check spelling or grammar' is skipped."

WTF? I know the software itself is fine because it works perfectly on another computer, and I definitely know my text isn't perfect either.

Does anyone have any idea what on earth is broken or why the Spelling checker keeps glitching out like this?

Which version of Word are you running?
Check those grammar settings. Take a look at the third pic on THIS link.

Hey there,
Does anyone happen to know how to change the file path for the personal macro workbook in Excel 2007?

I'm having an issue opening my Excel files—specifically imported ones. For some reason, my laptop keeps defaulting to Excel Starter instead of Excel 2010, and I can't seem to change the setting no matter what I try. It's incredibly frustrating. I can get around it by opening a blank workbook in Excel 2010 first and then importing the file manually, which works fine, but the moment I double-click the file itself, it jumps right back to the Starter version. To make matters worse, if I uninstall Excel Starter entirely, the files won't open at all! Interestingly, this doesn't happen with my Word 2010 files.
I hope that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated!

Just right-click the Excel file and check the properties... you'll see exactly which program is set to open it.

Excel isn't even an option for me—that’s the whole issue.

I could really use some help here...

I'm trying to figure out how to identify which numbers from a specific set, say:
15
20
25
30

actually add up to a target sum, like 50.

In a "real-world" scenario, though, I’m staring at a list of 154 entries formatted as currency, so this isn't exactly a simple mental math problem. 😵

I don't care if Excel just copies them into a new column, highlights them, or spits out the cell positions via a formula—honestly, I don't care about the method. I just need the software to tell me which combination of numbers from my column hits that specific total. 🤔

By the way, I'm running Excel 2010.

Thanks so much!

My apologies to the admins for misplacing this topic. I’m a bit confused about the posting rules here—last time, my software question was moved over to IT Support, but now it seems the exact opposite happened?
I realize I might be off-topic again, but I honestly wasn't sure where else to direct a question like this. 🙂

On another note, I wanted to ask if it’s possible to have separate sections for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint? When I’m searching through the forums, I feel like I’m losing my eyes just trying to filter through all the stuff about printing in Word or adding images to slides in PowerPoint, and I want to make sure I'm not accidentally double-posting an Excel question.
The individual programs are so massive, and I am certain it would make things much smoother for everyone involved—both for those of us asking questions and the people stepping up to help. 🙂

Best regards,
Dolores

Try looking for it under the "Browse" option instead, then just point it to the specific path you need. If this was a standard installation, you should be able to find it sitting right there in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14"

Just use Solver2 with a helper column or row. I dropped an example at this link.

btw: check these links too

I am looking for some assistance regarding rotation in Word. I want to rotate the entire page—the table and the text above it—all at once, as if I were simply turning the physical paper 90 degrees.
When I change the orientation in Page Layout, the table stays horizontal and won't rotate with the rest of the content. I also tried selecting the entire table to adjust the layout, but the text direction option remains greyed out when everything is selected. The only thing I can successfully rotate is text outside of the table. Can anyone help?

Here is a visual of what I am trying to rotate:

Thanks. It's fixed! Turns out Excel was sitting in the Program Files (x86) directory—who knew?

Check out this tutorial. So, you want to rotate a table in Word using Excel? Yeah, okay. Here's the deal.
Grab this file. Here's an example.

It really just boils down to a few simple steps.

Copying a table in Excel.
Transposing columns in Excel.
Sorting columns in Excel (reverse order)
Transposing tables in Excel.
5. Messing with cells and text in Excel
Copying back into Word.
