Of course it isn't working if you haven't installed the drivers—either run an update or just download them yourself! And make sure you grab the drivers specifically for Vista; if something still won't behave, just toggle on compatibility mode!

Of course I have the drivers, obviously... I don't know if you actually read my entire post, but after a restart, it WORKS. I downloaded them, installed them, and everything is fine, except every other time the keyboard and touchpad fail and the resolution gets trashed... so, in my opinion, this driver thing shouldn't even be an issue.

First everyone complains that Microsoft pushes out new Windows releases too often, and now suddenly nobody can wait for the full version of Windows 7 to drop this fall. 🙄

If I were in his shoes, dealing with people like "you," I’d probably just release a new version of Windows every single year and let you all deal with the headache of beta builds, broken drivers, compatibility issues, and all that other nonsense. 👎

It seems like you guys don't have anything better to do than obsess over Windows 7 all day long. 👎

Come on now... seriously... go out and find a girlfriend so you won't be this bitter... ☕ Or maybe it's just because your PC
is way too underpowered to even run Windows 7??? 😬

ontopic

Why on earth should Windows 7 launch with DirectX 10, only to have DirectX 11 added later once the full version is actually released??? 😕

Has anyone actually managed to fix that PunkBuster issue yet?

It’s not half bad... Honestly, it feels like a step up from Vista, especially since it doesn't seem to be such a resource hog. We'll just have to see how it actually performs once it officially hits the market.

I've been running Windows 7 for a few weeks now and honestly, I'm loving it. I actually wiped my old Athlon 64 3000+ machine, ditched Windows XP, and jumped straight to Windows 7. Now I've got two desktops running Windows 7 and a laptop stuck on Vista because my wife refuses to switch—apparently, she's already "bonded" with Vista. 😠 Everything is running smooth and fast, no complaints there, but I've hit one little snag: ZoneAlarm Internet Security isn't working. I installed AVG Free on one machine and a McAfee free beta on the other, but the latter keeps insisting no antivirus is installed. Does anyone know what's going on? If you have a fix, could you please send me a PM? (And by that, I mean send the info to me via PM, 😂 not just invite me to a chat) thanks!

I’ve been running Windows 7 for a few weeks now, and on the whole, I’d say I’m fairly satisfied with the OS. However, lately, I’ve been hitting this recurring wall where opening drives or even basic folders causes the system to just freeze up entirely. 😢 Is anyone else dealing with similar headaches, or am I just looking at some hardware failure on my end?

Which beta version are you currently running?

It’s likely the 7000 series... and I’m dealing with this same absolute garbage on that version too...

If you have the chance, grab version 7032—they actually fixed it this time. Otherwise, if you can stomach it, just deal with 🙂

So, I was wondering... why is it that every single time you open up My Computer, the system always insists on checking the floppy drive? It’s like, you can actually hear it making that noise, almost like it's desperately trying to read something that isn't even there, you know?

Is there any way to patch from 7000 to 7032 without having to redownload the entire 2-3 GB package and running through the whole installation process again? Can I just run the update alone?
